    Thumbs up Zakk!

    • @rbagel55

      Ain't that the fucking truth. Or a drug problem for that matter. Normal Society
      looks at addicts or alcoholics as "bad people" They don't relate to us-they have never been in our shoes

    • @jackbutler684
      @jackbutler684 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      rbagel55 Bad people or not they tend to ruin lives of other people around them. Before you say anything I drank for over 20 years, daily. I know about addiction. I just don't put this spin of "we aren't bad people, we have an addiction" because I was a bad person. Most addicts are. Fact.

    • @1970borntorun
      @1970borntorun 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      rbagel55 Um, no. Normal Society, DOESN'T look at addicts as "bad people". I was smart enough to not let my partying become a lifestyle, and I have compassion and empathy for those that have struggled with addiction. That's as stupid as saying all white people in Alabama are racists, or all Democrats are tree-hugging Liberals. Maybe that's YOUR experience, but that doesn't give you credence to go around making unintelligent, ridiculous statements like that.

    • @TVismyopiate
      @TVismyopiate 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah, they're *really* scared underneath it all, because we're a reflection of society. Part of society's dark underbelly and power and abuse-dynamics. "No man is an island", thus no drug problem started in isolation as a drug problem. Someone made that person want to take drugs instead of something more positive. Someone gave them pain that nothing else could take away... That's how society is, but we're not honest enough about the abuse-dynamics in society. Being honest about this scares the SHIT out of many people. So, on top of everything, they force addicts to lie, because they're not about to start giving a fuck about some addict's mental problems. Society, in a capitalist world, wants to dispose of the weak and force-conform everyone else. Which means dealing with ridiculous stress levels at work and then getting drunk or high to deal with it. Whose fault is that, in the end? Those who profit from the system the most, I would say. The collective humans, for not caring for each other in a basic manner.

    • @TVismyopiate
      @TVismyopiate 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's partially true, but you're also wrong. 1) We spend most of our waking hours at work. Being used as a unit of human resources, basically. Face it. 2) Thus capitalism which is cruel and ruthless, influences our conscious waking hours WAY more than any other influence, arguably. 3) Thus we learn to think like the system wants us to - whether we like it or not. Subconsciously it goes into our psyches. 4) We then learn to be ruthless towards others, or at least to not care enough to help those symptoms of the people-grinder that is capitalism. The symptoms are called 'addicts'. I'm not scapegoating Capitalism out of delusion - people are used and abused and thrown away the same as anything else natural and pure is abused by this system. Face it.

    Zakk probably will never remember me but I spent a lot of time in his company when he was in Pride and Glory an BLS and he was always a fucking amazing dude! Guitar tips, life tips and many beers. First time I met him was in London UK at Worlds End in Camden. Changed my life and ended up playing in a band that was on Universal and toured the world. Owe it all to this dude. Rock n roll

  • @tonyluchese72

    22 years sober. You can do it and you don't miss it. Life is better without it. Trust me you won't miss it once you change your life and people boozing it up look ridiculous and they are just annoying you wont' even want to be around them. It really is worth it. Good luck to all those struggling. It takes a lot of courage and it ain't easy. You are more of a man for following through and getting sober. Once you get some sobriety, you won't look at drinking as manly, you will look at it as immature. That's usually how I see people whose life revolves around beer. I don't envy it. And I don't believe in god so you don't have to do it through all kinds of religious conversion and such, but you gotta have a solid plan and help.

      Call them Hard Rock call them Metal (they INVENTED Metal but Black Sabbath were the first Metal Band) but Led Zeppelin were the most important (aside from the Beatles; who went from Rock N' Roll, to Pop to Psychedelic in 5 years) and HARDEST band ever to me. Check out 'Dazed an Confused' from 'The Song Remains the Same'; the heaviest most intense 23 minutes ever and the song that inspired Sabbath's slower Metal groove.

    In a post death interview Kerry stated that Jeff was an incredibly solid drinker- "I'm not the type of guy who wakes up and has a beer, but Jeff was." Jeff was a terrible alcoholic and not one to ask for help, which is what made his story more tragic. King and Dimebag drank well and hard but even they knew when to put the drinks away- Jeff would come home and drink after drinking at the show and the after show....

    I'm taking a break myself. You can tell when your body is starting to fuck up. It takes longer and longer to get over it as the years go by. Then again my dad was a hardcore drunk up till 2 years ago since he was 20 and still smokes and he has lung cancer in remission and he's 70. I'm the only one in the family that doesn't smoke but i'm the only one with weight issues which is not good either. A few weeks ago I was popping open a 20 pack at 130pm and by 530pm it was gone and then top it off with a couple shots of VO. Yeah.........time to take a break. Thank god it's winter as I usually don't drink much in the winter. Sounds ass backwards but i'm generally just a happy time summer drinker.

    • @PickingDude
      @PickingDude 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good luck to you also. Too bad about your wife. Luckily mine doesn't drink too much but unfort if she does it's always Crown and that stuff works like truth serum on her god forbid if we leave the house. My habit isn't only inherited it was instilled at an early age. My 'ENTIRE' family--both parents and every single relative---lived to drink. We'd go on long road trips they'd always stick me in back of the van since probably age 3-4 and I was the bartender. Was there ever any pop or water in the cooler? No. We'd end up on the lake in a boat for hours in the heat and after a few hours with nothing to drink by 5 or so I could pretty easily slam a beer if it was cold. Pretty fkd up lol. I probably have a different goal than you I don't really want to quit all together I just want to cut back and so far i've been able to hold it to 1x per week but I drink too much on that day i'm hoping I can tone it down to a 12 pack. I know that sounds bad lol but for me it would be a huge accomplishment. I do workout with weights some and am a fairly strong person but that doesn't save your liver, kidneys etc. Or help with memory issues.

      Yeah my uncle just passed away last week from Alcoholism. He was only 55 years old man. He just waited to long to get help and when he went in to the hospital they said his liver was shot and then went his kidneys and then they took him off the breathing machine and we watched him die. The same thing happened to my aunt 8 years prior. They were brother and sister, but she was only 46 years young. Alcoholism definitely runs in my family big time. Both mom and dad's side. I bet if Dimebag was still here he would probably have health issues cause he was a big time alcoholic. Then again when you have money you can get the best help out there. So who knows.

      I watched an epidsode of Beavis and Butthead when they were in AA hillarious. Sitting around talking about 'cold ones' to a bunch of guys trying to quit didn't work out so well. I'm just lucky i'm not as bad off as my 2 neighbor friends who are drunk nearly every night. I did that years ago but quit. Last night I drank around 15 beers but that was the first i've had in almost 2 wks and it will be another week at least before I do it again. I know.......15 sounds terrible trust me that's a pretty easy objective for me. I do things now on purpose so I can't drink as much like eat a lot before I know i'll be drinking. I admit it........I like my beer but enough is enough.

    Zakk is the man but the blood thinner thing is a cop out. My Dad took them for years and he never stopped drinking. He averaged around 18 beers a day. He did bruise extremely easy and did bleed quite profusely when he got cut but he was never in danger of dying from it.

    Man, sometimes I forget how funny Zakk is! Hilarious.
    What I wonder is will Zakk ever be able to drink again? Will the blood clots ever work out of his system? Anyone out there know any of this?

    Even though he doesn't like to not drink, honestly alcohol starts a lot of problems for music stars.

    Who needs alcohol when you can do whatever the fuck you want? I quit 20 years ago. Don’t miss that shit at all. I’m not some “born again” sobriety asshole. I don’t have a problem with people that drink. And if I want to drink alcohol I will. I just don’t miss it and have no desire to go back. When you drink hard for years, you just realize enough is enough. When you have to get drunk just to feel normal, it becomes a chore and just becomes un-fun 👊🏻

    Y'know, I kinda wish I could quit drinking. I mean I only drink beer, I never got into that hard shit, but when I drink, *I drink*. A 30 pack is nothing for me, and when Im done I'm still searching for more. And I'm not young either, I'm going on 35, and I think that it's never good to abuse ethanol like that, yet it's an addiction, stronger than coke. Yeah I did freebase back in the day, but I quit it cause I was broke and dealing with lower than the low. Never would ever touch that crap now, even if they paid me. But alcohol is a true demon...I take that back...the brain is the demon, the alcohol just fills a void...everyone has a reason to drink. If you can kick it, just keep running and don't look back. Alcoholism is a helluva way to go.

    Once I successfully equated alcohol to poison, it was easy, I quit drinking. I don't drink *bleach* either (unless I'm treating C0VID of course).

    Have you not met most of the metal fans out there? He is what the majority looks like, acts like, etc. Not every fan is like that obviously but a lot of the younger generations are like that. Doesn't mean he is a Wuss. :/ He's just got to come into his own and age/time will help I'm sure.
