Yes it's worth it...!!! 108 hp in top of the stock 252hp???? you got that right is worth it to spend the $2.000 360hp???? 10 hp more than the Ford Focus RS. And still the Ford Focus ST is $14.000 to $15.000 cheaper just add $2.000 and you got a beast and still cheaper than the RS and faster!!!!
Yeh but the RS is 4x4 so will handle much better. This ST might be faster in a straight line but not around a track. My 2006 ST 2.5 Turbo has too much power at the front wheels, so this will be stupid to handle.

I drove a mostly stock ST for the first time the other day, it had an exhaust and an intake on it, and I fell even more in love with it. I've always had a car crush on these things, and after driving one, I need to own either an ST or an RS.
Think I'll be sticking with mine with just the bluefin remap, a fraction under 300hp is ample for fwd, 1st gear is pretty much redundant and in the wet I'm still spinning the wheels in 3rd, I really don't feel the need for more
ST's make great daily drivers. Just hit 60k miles on my '14. Mines stock (filter and exhaust). Drive it year round in upstate NY(adks). Handles winter fine. Haven't had any mechanical failures of any kind. One flat tire from a nasty pothole.
“ST1, ST2, and ST3” is the model type based on the extras you have such as the sunroof, Sony sound system, navigation system, seats and so on but it is considered the “2nd gen”
That's right. In addition, 1st gens are commonly referred to as PFLs or "Pre-Facelifts" with the 2nd gen (as seen in this video) being referred to as FLs or "Facelifts" because of the changes to the front-end.
I've got 62K on my 2014. I've enjoyed every single mile. I still own a 1990 Eagle Talon with 49K on it. I haven't driven it in 12 years so I know it will need a lot of work. But it will get resurrected.
St2 is a trim level...think you mixed up the generations with trim levels. Love your channel though been a long time fan and now own a ST with the same turbo. Pretty spot on review! 💪
thats a ST1 btw. No recaros. upgraded lower motor mount helps the car hook up by stopping wheel hop. I had a 2013 ST3 and i loved it, i sold it to get the ecoboost mustang. Both cars are awesome imo. I would not hesitate to get another one down the road.
How the hell is this hooking in first when my old stock ST couldn’t even with pilot sport 3s. Maybe it’s the less aggressive torque from the larger turbo? Mine was the face lift too

This is pretty interesting. I can't get away with mashing it in 1st (stock turbo with tune.). The lower initial torque of this larger turbo must allow a better hookup. Makes me reconsider going big turbo now.. the allure of better hookups is pretty compelling
"The little different front end" yes you will have that when someone front bumper swaps to that newer one. (very noticeable due to some shit body shop not color matching)

Karl Hopkins gf doesnt know how to drive stick. :(. I went with the auto :(. I thought they fixed the trannsmision issue on the 15' models tho. Hopefully. Fingers crossed. Haha
Greg Williams nope didn't fix the issues unfortunately. I've got a 12, had clutches replaced twice. Clutches warrantied 100k miles and tcm warrantied 'til 150k
Hey man, 14 Focus Titanium owner here, there's actually a class action lawsuit going on with the transmission right now, you should have gotten some mail about it. Luckily I'm going on 50k miles with no issue, but shuddering is here and there..
You should do a video talking about a good enthusiast first car for a enthusiast like fun to drive and cheapish to insure and easy to convince my parents that's it good
Victor Giannella Focus is a great car for a starter enthusiast.. or an older Golf GTI. Currently, there are no other cars that really give a better "bang for your buck" than the ST range as they are modifiable, reliable, sensible and practical.. Not to mention easy to insure, which is ideal for first timers.
im Jonny 350Z has expesive insurance actually.. they have a high crash/death rate because people think they are Han from Tokyo Drift.. if you get a starter, at least think before owning one of those
I just bought a 2013 new to me. Wish me luck. Hopefully it's a good one. I'm not sure I want to mod it yet but I know I will. I'm 37 but I'm a kid at heart. I just gave my son my old hatchback and I figured I'd try something else and I always wanted one of these.
ST3 gets full leather Recaros. ST2 gets the same leather Recaros but with fabric accents and no heat no power. I have the ST1, and the seats that come in it are the ones in the video.
I seriously doubt that car makes 360 WHP. I have the same turbo and similar mods with a Freak tune and mine dynos at 290 WHP and 370 ft.lbs tq. I am running a Quafie diff. and Michelin Pilot Super Sports and I can roast both tires in first gear under hard acceleration. It also has an unbelievable amount to torque steer making it very difficult to redline and shift while keeping it straight.. Just watching the video I can tell it does not have that much power. Don't believe everything that you are told.
Engine tuning is an adjustment, modification of the internal combustion engine, or modification to its control unit, otherwise known as its ECU (Engine Control Unit). It is adjusted to yield optimal performance, to increase an engine's power output, economy, or durability. These goals may be mutually exclusive, and an engine may be detuned with respect to output (work) in exchange for better economy or longer engine life due to lessened stress on engine components. That was the Wikipedia definition, but as far as a turbo motor goes a tune increases the boost (psi) above stock and usually increases ignition timing as well which results in more horsepower and torque.
It sucks that ford discontinued the ST and RS model of the focus up here in Canada. Not sure why did that, but both seem to be popularly accepted by many manual transmission car enthusiasts. It gave us an American alternative to the Japanese counterparts in its class and model.
I went cobb stage 1. blew the engine, melted piston to be exact. not under warranty of course.($5,800) Ford said tune caused engine to overheat. They also noted that the gas quality in my tank, from Rehoboth beach Delaware, which is 93, was not up to par with what the tune was thirty for. Be careful everyone
I have a question though, i have a big intercooler and ended up removing the active grill shudders just like this car, does this guy have any issues with CEL on the dash? Mine will periodically throw a code (obviously trying to activate the shudders that aren’t there)
It is a 2000 dollar upgrade however, keep in mind you must be stage 3 in order to do this. So technically it is between 4-5k (total) to get to this power level depending on brand of parts you buy. I just recently got a 2867 gen 2 and of course had to buy an exhale kit and bov. I’m still in the tuning process yet but I can’t wait until it’s finally tuned.
That is interesting that that car hooks in first. My Focus St that I recently got (completely stock) spins in first and slightly in 2nd depending on surface and temperature. Probably just how hard the stock turbo hits. Car is on Michelin PS AS3+.
It’s the stock turbo, along with the stock motor mount. When my ST was stock it would spin quite a bit going into second. Now it doesn’t spin AT ALL with a rear motor mount (going into second at least). I’m getting the big turbo upgrade soon (I’m currently stage 2)
When I had one in 2014, I had to lol at people when they talked about how these broke the tires loose in first and second gear stock. Mine never did with 265 hp/300 tq stg2, 91 octane, on all season tires too. Usually the all seasons spin all day in more powerful V6/V8's.
Man i raced one of these last night on my way home from DC on I95 and i remember thinking the same thing about his BOV, it was loud AF but i liked it tbh suits the car, theyre pretty fast too we were neck and neck from a 4th gear pull at 60 to 110 before i redlined and called it, super handsome car though Not sure if it was stock as well. Ftw I have a 2007 civic Si coupe.
Some people get nice new cars as there first car, wow... my first was a old 89 ford tempo 3 speed with 70Hp on a brisk day, the second car i had was a 97 escort it had the 5 speed manual on a 100hp 2L, third car i had was a vary weak 5.0L 1992 GM sierra. Those 3 cars cost $5000 and lasted 5 years... that is $33'000.00 in savings every 5 years using old cars (compared to the Focus), and they are cheep enough that ya can push them around to really get a feel of how to drive and what causes them to fail. if you have only ever had experience driving one car the insurance company's might be weary when ya get a different one... (lack of variety with driving experience/training). I have a V8 sport coup now, and with the cars i have had in the past makes the 1994 Thunder Bird feel exponentially better. So a Focus ST is about $55'000 over 7 years, but the 3 cars i have gone threw +T-Bird i have now cost about $7500 over 7 years... 730% in savings. Just like gambling picking up old cars is a good way to save money but ya got to be smart/lucky not to buy a broken heap. with all that said i got a lot i can put into the T-bird to make it wicked. Never gone wrong buying a ford new or used they are on top.
@thatdudeinblue we have this car at our shop right now going with a Gen 2 GTX2867R .64, should make more power than the turbo when you tested it,plus peak boost over 1000rpms quicker!
Jason Miller that's why you maintain it...do oil changes and cam follower regularly without beating the absolute piss out of it and you will be ok. I'd take my mk6 golf R over an st any day. I can hit those numbers on a stock turbo easily.
Maintenance won't do anything for crappy OEM parts. Former Mk5 Gti owner and after 3 thermostats failed, 2 intake manifolds failed, and the car started getting electrical gremlins that couldn't be tracked down (all before 50k miles and all work was done by a dealer) I ditched that thing. Great car when it worked perfect, which wasn't very often. And I am most definitely not alone on that.

I bought the '15 focus titanium sedan for the gf. Wish i would've went with the st :(
Karl Hopkins gf doesnt know how to drive stick. :(. I went with the auto :(. I thought they fixed the trannsmision issue on the 15' models tho. Hopefully. Fingers crossed. Haha
Karl Hopkins and i have a 100k bumper to bumper warranty. So im trying not to stress too hard.
Barney M8 id be salty too if my name was barney 😂
Love the new filming tricks your doing wit the picture in picture. Keep it up
Love your videos
Thought I was watching 2015 baby David for a minute there. Shaving really does make a difference
You should do a video talking about a good enthusiast first car for a enthusiast like fun to drive and cheapish to insure and easy to convince my parents that's it good
Victor Giannella I can tell you that the focus and fiesta ST are both fantastic
Victor Giannella Focus is a great car for a starter enthusiast.. or an older Golf GTI. Currently, there are no other cars that really give a better "bang for your buck" than the ST range as they are modifiable, reliable, sensible and practical.. Not to mention easy to insure, which is ideal for first timers.
Victor Giannella if you have less than $10k go for an sn95 gt
im Jonny 350Z has expesive insurance actually.. they have a high crash/death rate because people think they are Han from Tokyo Drift.. if you get a starter, at least think before owning one of those
I just bought a 2013 new to me. Wish me luck. Hopefully it's a good one. I'm not sure I want to mod it yet but I know I will. I'm 37 but I'm a kid at heart. I just gave my son my old hatchback and I figured I'd try something else and I always wanted one of these.
How’s yours going? I have a 2013 as well and hit 150k, yours will as long as you treat her right probably.
So was up with your st ?
Would you like to do one with a Mazdaspeed3 !? I will offer my car.
BorderHop85 hes done genjuan and gen2 already.. no point unless its fully built and has hood dumped exhaust
I know Brian personally, the guy behind JSTuned, and I have to say. He knows his shit for sure. A bad ass tuner.
I'm getting da fo sho....
Johnny Koch fo sho!
stfu
love that it's JSTUNED. The guy that does it lives in my town and is super chill.
This is an st1. St2's have recaros standard.
Caleb Potter when he said st2. I think he meant a facelift st lol. He should've said facelift or mk3.5 lol
this.
Nah this is the st2 the st3 has recaros. I have an st3.
ST3 gets full leather Recaros. ST2 gets the same leather Recaros but with fabric accents and no heat no power. I have the ST1, and the seats that come in it are the ones in the video.
Scotland’s Finest this is an ST1... I have the same exact car.
Has the differential been upgraded to a limited slip? Also level the radar detector .
Steve Silverado what is a tune
Steve Silverado what turbo do you have
Steve Silverado you can tune more power to the top end and you won't spin as hard in the low end. Mid range torque too
GTX2876R .86AR it has a little lag till about 4000 RPM then pulls like a freight train past redline.
It sucks that ford discontinued the ST and RS model of the focus up here in Canada. Not sure why did that, but both seem to be popularly accepted by many manual transmission car enthusiasts. It gave us an American alternative to the Japanese counterparts in its class and model.
Who else is excited for the solar eclipse?
Love it! Keep up the good work, long time subscriber
Just send it to BoostedBoiz. I bet they could give it 700 hp for as much or less
Until the motor blows in 2 days 😂
deagle 44 Yeah they get crazy numbers but they use cheap internals so it blows up every other week lol
Yeah theyll make it get 700hp with a Honda swap. Lmao
Were you driving it hard?
Baby face David
I loooooove my St! She’s all ready for a big turbo right now just really want to do my homework before i jump on one.
I have a question though, i have a big intercooler and ended up removing the active grill shudders just like this car, does this guy have any issues with CEL on the dash? Mine will periodically throw a code (obviously trying to activate the shudders that aren’t there)
2017 Civic Si and/or Type R review?
It is a 2000 dollar upgrade however, keep in mind you must be stage 3 in order to do this. So technically it is between 4-5k (total) to get to this power level depending on brand of parts you buy. I just recently got a 2867 gen 2 and of course had to buy an exhale kit and bov. I’m still in the tuning process yet but I can’t wait until it’s finally tuned.
still a tiny turbo
Greatest King how big do you want?
Greatest King 100mm
Obviously he doest want a smooth linier power curve
Enjoy massive lag and massive top end
Still small as hell as he said barely bigger than the stock ko4 it comes with
That is interesting that that car hooks in first.
I’m getting the big turbo upgrade soon (I’m currently stage 2)
speaking of a srt4 review one lol
I'd love to get the fiesta st as my first car. That car is gorgeous
sevan grigoryan you’re a different breed of man
Bov sounds like a queef..
When I had one in 2014, I had to lol at people when they talked about how these broke the tires loose in first and second gear stock. Mine never did with 265 hp/300 tq stg2, 91 octane, on all season tires too. Usually the all seasons spin all day in more powerful V6/V8's.
hooks in first gear because it's all lag
Man i raced one of these last night on my way home from DC on I95 and i remember thinking the same thing about his BOV, it was loud AF but i liked it tbh suits the car, theyre pretty fast too we were neck and neck from a 4th gear pull at 60 to 110 before i redlined and called it, super handsome car though Not sure if it was stock as well.
Ftw I have a 2007 civic Si coupe.
That’s WHY he raced you LOL 😂 🤣🤣. Love racing the Vtec boys and girls. 👍👍👌👌❤️❤️
Best upgrade for my 2016 Focus ST: Trading it in.
XskiXedgeX rip
What you trade it in for? Im curious
LpZ I went back to another Acura. 2012 TSX Special Edition, manual. Basically a grown-up four door SI. No regrets.
Huge downgrade. Smh
Hell yeah the tsx is dope. Not a fan of the 09+ models tho
i really loved this video. goodjob david
RWD > AWD > FWD
The 2018 M5 was just announced and it has AWD with the capability of completely turning it RWD, EA Gamescom for NFS Payback
lsbugsbunny92 a video game ?
People that rag on FWD just don't know how to drive them properly.
One Stock AP2 it was for the EA conference but BMW did a world release for it, all the info is on BMWs site
They all have pros and cons, i don't mind as long as the car is fun.
That drone would drive me up a wall.
The ST is one of my favorite cars to drive. My buddies is so much freaking fun to drive. It's arguably more fun to drive than an 80s 911 I drive.
Where's Tommy Fuck yeah? And his r32 with r33 swap. "Mr. Clean"
@thatdudeinblue we have this car at our shop right now going with a Gen 2 GTX2867R .64, should make more power than the turbo when you tested it,plus peak boost over 1000rpms quicker!
Brian, what other mods does this car have in order to make 360 on pump gas besides the 2867(.86)?
Why did you shave!!!!!! 😔💔
read that the stock block can handle 400hp & anything over youll have to upgrade the internals, true?
Almost bought an ST. Until I test drove a new GTI....
jjdayton ahhh I'm actually trying to get rid of my GTI to get a ST or civic si. Too many problems with the VW
jjdayton me too man me too
Enjoy it while you can for the first 50k, then it's all down hill...
Thanks for the video I just bought a base ST because of employee pricing got a super deal!!! What all parts do you have on yours??? I'm getting ready to drop some loot on mine. Where did you have it done??
KUSH
I just bought my 2018 last month and I freaking LOOOOOOOOOOVE it.
Just slap a turbo on a 9th gen SI for the same price and own the streets
a Ford being reliable?!?!?!You make me Laugh HAHAH
im Jonny 2000 Honda Accord 271k miles and still no problems only a Honda can do that 💪
im Jonny your cousins not yours lmao your probably a fucking ricer
im Jonny for all I know you could be baiting me so I don't believe you until I see some proof
This thread made me lose hope for the car community.
Turn off the driver assist and put it in sport mode....It loves to break the tires loose! In each of the first 3 gear might I add.
