i helped a friend buy a focus ST, earlier model as he wanted one. some were terrible. we found one that was decent and i was worried about its reliability. 2 yrs on and its still great
Sorry mate, just a small tip, need to mix up and reduce use of the word "also" in the scripts. Also used both as sentence starter also sentence linker. Maybe I watched too much Redriven 😅 sorry mate
I've never really understood why the Golf Gti is the standard car of comparison, its down about 50hp (against the international models) and has a more 'warm hatch' 0-100 in the ~6.5sec range
There's a reason the golfs are given the best all rounder title, they are somewhat reliable(EA888.3, I wouldnt touch an auto gearbox with a stick personally), they have the best interiors in their segment (prior to golf 8 lol), they fly under the radar and in the real world they're as fast as you need a car to be.
Definitely a forgotten about little gem but the Mazda 3 and Kia Proc'eed GT are the ones I'd go for. Surprisingly fuel efficient for the size of the motor it has. It's good to see that it's the usual case of piss poor mods and driver negligence that cause the main issues mechanically. Good video as always guys and look forward to Sunday's video as per usual 👍.
Don’t use silicon to fix leaks, use butyl sealant. Easy to use, cheap, 100% effective - it’s what boat builders use to seal hulls - and it’ll probably outlast the car 🙂
At one stage, I owned a 2020 Fiesta ST, while my sister drove a 2017 Focus RS, and brother in law drove a 2021 Focus ST (in auto no less). I was spoilt for choice and got to drive the others a fair bit. Each of them fun in their own way. That Focus ST auto was surprisingly rapid.
Had a 1.6 Focus with the supposedly dreaded twin clutch transmission... Loved it, bit underpowered but it loved a bit of right boot and was sooo economical. Miss that car, handled great too.
Always love your videos mate but definitely a new found respect to know your daily is a Fiesta ST. I have a 2021 and it's an absolute super car for poor people!
I had a friend who did 180,000kms in a series 2 and said he didn't have any problems with it. It was totally stock and well serviced. Top many boy racers modify this and other hot hatches, which causes problems. I'm also hearing that a few GR Corollas are blowing motors when modified
I had the sooty oil issue in my mk6 GTI, the transmission changed up into 5th at 40kph so low rpm’s and a heavy foot (my wife drive this car every day) and I had an oil pressure warning. I had it towed to my technician (Italian car specialist, because the so called VW specialist completely missed the problem earlier and didn’t bother testing oil pressure when I had an engine rattle) Even though oil was changed every 10k the sump pickup was clogged with carbon , worst car I ever owned. Sorry thats off topic but Jim really rang some bells talking about carbon blowing past the rings down into the sump.
Question, do you collect watches? I've noticed in this video you're wearing a Casioak & in other videos you're wearing a Seiko Turtle & a Erebus from JOMW
Hi Guys. My mates 2014 focus trend toasted its electric steering column under 100 thousand ks. It cost just over 4k to get fixed (replacement has to be reprogrammed and so on) Dealers quoted 5k. If that column is shared with the ST on the earlier models then i'd be asking if its been done at minimum. No idea if the 2017 or later model fixed the issue - but i reckon there are fair odds they didnt!
One day I'd like Adam to say something along the lines of "we reached out to the owner's forums for ... car and we have to say, you guys are a real pack of cnuts!"
Yeah, that interior is super cheap and plasticky. I sat in it and couldn't wait to get out of it, cheap enough that made me decide against buying one because it does not feel special, it feels like you're sitting in an entry level city car. Gti or in my case a 2 series ANY day.
Only reason Ford is still in Australia because of Ranger otherwise no one buys any Fords cause they suck! Also Ranger is known as most unreliable ute Down Under but people still buy it!Go figure!
FINALLY... a great many of us have been waiting for this and finally it's here. The world deserves to know about this cool car.
personally I am waiting for a Volvo V40 cross country 2.5L 5cyl awd review. I want 1 but not sure if i want 1.
Have owned a 2014 St for 5 years now, 152,000 K's, and hasn't missed a beat every time l drive it, l love it even more

9:10 ..radio stations playing country music - all sorts of nightmare scenarios 😆
209,000km before mine died. Turbo imploded and sucked all the good metal bits into the block, torque steering nightmare but fun as hell!
Did you get it fixed and back on the road?😬
Scarier than a corvette in heavy rain! Had one for 6 years
That just means the turbo was a bit too good at its job.

Drive one and you’ll see why.

The EA888 must have been waaayyy more reliable than the CLDG lump in the mk6 edition 35 I had, worst car I ever owned.
The GTI reference is mostly historic reasons I think
Definitely a forgotten about little gem but the Mazda 3 and Kia Proc'eed GT are the ones I'd go for.

Finally, I've been waiting for a review
Just got mine 2 weeks ago and absolutely in love with the car.

The storage cubbies next to the rear seat aren't really for storage, they're cleverly designed to catch things that may fall out of your pocket!
Had a 1.6 Focus with the supposedly dreaded twin clutch transmission... Loved it, bit underpowered but it loved a bit of right boot and was sooo economical. Miss that car, handled great too.

The biggest problem I've heard with these cars is just how easy they are to steal. If you own one of these a steering wheel lock is an absolute must!
Great video as usual! Please do a review on the Nissan Altima / Maxima.👍

Great looking car, colour, and wheels.
2:40 pretty cool transition.
Great colour. Great car. Great review.
These seats are seriously amazing. Probably the best I've ever sat in.
13:18 I used to put the Mountune controller in here after I tuned mine.
As much as I love your car reviews, Adam I really love your obvious extensive watch collection mate!🤣🤩😎👍🏼
Question, do you collect watches? I've noticed in this video you're wearing a Casioak & in other videos you're wearing a Seiko Turtle & a Erebus from JOMW
"Power is everything" - Jeremy Clarkson
I put micro fibre cloths in that little box in the misses golf
A redriven video 13 minutes ago?! Pure gold🤑🤑
Hi Redriven or anyone else, is the Italian tune up a gimmick or a real thing as in does it work or no.
Hi Guys. My mates 2014 focus trend toasted its electric steering column under 100 thousand ks. It cost just over 4k to get fixed (replacement has to be reprogrammed and so on) Dealers quoted 5k. Next can you review an e series falcon like an ea or eb model perhaps?
I wouldn't hold your breath. Redriven mostly review cars that are no older than 15 years. They have done an AU Falcon if that interests you.
just clicked on it, because read fiest ST. then was confused why focus is in video.
Double sided tape for door seals? Isn't it glue or silicon from the factory?
Nah, most door seals are double sided "self-adhesive" tape from the factory.
The XR5 version of the ST was way better than this, with the Volvo drivetrain, T5 and Getrag 6 speed it was just a solid performer that sounded great.
Sorry undercoat grey isn’t a colour but a great car
Fuck yes, mate! Fuck yes! Greetings from Europe! Good stuff!
One day I'd like Adam to say something along the lines of "we reached out to the owner's forums for ... car and we have to say, you guys are a real pack of cnuts!"
Man that interior is as ugly as I remember
What goes wrong with them? Just about everything 😅😅
Why would you think that gloss undercoat is a great colour 🤮
PS. Love redriven ❤
Any grey is horrible....but it's trendy. Every 2nd fkn car.
And no one sees you in the rain. Boring and dangerous!
What does Focus spell backwards?
Hang on, never mind.
Yeah, that interior is super cheap and plasticky. I sat in it and couldn't wait to get out of it, cheap enough that made me decide against buying one because it does not feel special, it feels like you're sitting in an entry level city car. Gti or in my case a 2 series ANY day.
No!
I would not even buy a brand new one, let alone a "redriven" one.
of course the rubbers come loose on a ford...
Just too Meh😂
Only reason Ford is still in Australia because of Ranger otherwise no one buys any Fords cause they suck! Also Ranger is known as most unreliable ute Down Under but people still buy it!Go figure!
1st view!
hot hatches are gay as hell, that whole segment sucks just get a motorcycle if you want something small and fast
stay with the japanese cars
Thank you for your hard work! Your videos are always so entertaining and helpful.🐘🏑✌️
