Minecraft's New Gamemode Has Just Evolved - Roguecraft Infinite Garden

- Recently, I created a Minecraft data pack that aims to turn the game into a Roguelite by adding a run-based game loop as well as meta progression inbetween runs. Due to suggestions from that video, I decided to work further on this data pack to create my greatest project yet: Roguecraft - Infinite Garden. This update a new boss in the form of the Wildfire, the Infinite Garden as a permanent build area, a new hub (the cosmic dome), a new class and much more.

🔥 data pack bro you cooked 😊
ay man is this data pack multiplayer compatible?
Will you continue to develop this?
I can't stop myself to confess. You are a genius and I Love you
@@__--_--_-----I hope he does
The entire concept of the infinite garden is one of the coolest systems I've seen in a roguelite. Sure, other games have hub areas where u can build and farm, but having it be all of your minecraft items from past runs with full freedom to build whatever is a really cool concept and I hope more uses of it can come.
I also like that it’s an incentive to keep building materials on you rather than leave them for something like an Apple that will only help temporarily
Monocode is genius💡
Also the runs might change for people that want to build, they might start a run to get as much glowstone as they can
Absolute win, I am excited to play!
So basically, and hear me out, KeepInventory True...
the infinite garden is deadass such a sick idea, you never truly lose your stuff, you just lose access to it on your next run and you can show off what you did and build a spot for your achievements, never seen any roguelike ever do something like this
Pokemon emerald rogue
The infinite Garden itself brings to mind a great sense of tranquility. A place for the player, stricken with this endless cycle of dying to have a sense of permanence.
I think you should add some sort of trophy that drops when defeating bosses or other very rare/hard to get items/trophies for the infinite garden. This would allow players to build a trophy use to show off and appreciate their effort and achievements!
agreed
Or statues/other structures popping up in the garden after each boss is defeated
@@noahsmusicarkI think this is a great idea… somebody could make a statue for each boss that spawns in the garden, or even a mini version is displayed in the obelisk room
I think it would be cool if you could also get permanent armor trims as trophies, themed with the bosses? and the material upgrades each time you kill it? Just a thought.
tiered trophies for killing the bosses certain amounts of times. sort of like how terraria does it but it would be better if the variants looked different
Just when I finally beat the first version...
I think I forgot to comment, but I saw your video, it was awesome!
@@MonoCodeYT Muchas gracias senior🔥

man, this feels like a modpack with dedicated integration mods to tie everything together. You're telling me this is a datapack? I love these latest updates
It really does, it does not feel like minecraft with a singular datapack added it feels like a whole bunch of mods and stuff
Im so glad you made the minecraft dungeons mechanic of using souls as mana and killing mobs for souls, this is the best iteration of this system!
ahhh yes calamity and ultrakill music in video is a great choice
*starts playing duel* "In the flesh."
"This dome, to hold *ME?"*

The infinite garden is INSPIRED. Legit, I was asking myself "I wonder if there will be a place to have like... a permanent home" AND YOU DELIVERED!
I can't wait to see what else you come up with with this pack. This is legit so many things I wish I could have done myself. Amazing work.
OMG finally. A continuation. I loved the first version. Played through it 3 times just so I could experience different classes and builds.
Most favorite is glass cannon while only going for more damage. Gets kinda fun. Less hp but one shotting anything
"you can't kill me if i kill you first!" lol
it'd be cool to be able to buy items (like blocks or something) for the garden or next run using skill points
agreed
for as much as i agree, i like the fact you can find your own blocks in the overworld and bring them into the infinite garden
I think trophies and special rare items for the infinite garden would be a good idea, then you could build a trophy display
@@the_circuit6347 trophies would be so cool, maybe for some of the achievements
@@sonicSnap A trophy for each boss, and trophies for the harder advancements like getting 100/500 skill points in one run lol
This man has been cooking for months.
Yoooooo FlamingMoai in the wild!
Seriously, props to you. I think I will have to play through this so many times, please never stop developing this. I would also love to be a tester if that is a possibility!
i just got into roguecraft recently and i was like MAN this is good i hope there are updates or something. this was a good video to get recommended
huh, actually I'd say my favourite addition is the Infinite Garden. Let's my progression have some more impact in the home base than just points to a board. I really like it
This datapack has more features and polish than most mods I've seen! And your passion for this project has gotten me excited to try it! Great stuff dude! :]
I'm enamored, oh my looord this thing has my heart. I haven't boot up Minecraft in years and this makes me want to go through it again. As a fan of roguelikes and roguelites I can say with 100% confidence that the Infinite Garden is AWESOME, both in concept and execution. I don't even know if I'll have time to play, but I'm definitely going to keep an eye on your channel. Subscribed; Thanks for being amazing!
Man this is incredible!!!! It's grand enough to be a standalone game if you ask me! I'm super excited to see what's in store for the community as they grab this datapack and play alongside their favorite content creators and as more and more updates come out. Phenomenal work by both you and the people in your discord who have all contributed. Great stuff guys and gals!
its so insane that this much content can be in a datapack now, this is like a whole modpack
I love the concept of the Infinite Garden so much, definitely keeping this on my radar as it gets more updates (which I hope it does!)
I LOVE THIS DATAPACK. I decided to go for a glass cannon build on my play through even though I’m really bad at avoiding damage. 😅 It was super fun, though. I haven’t beaten the dragon yet but have gotten close. At one point I even encountered a bug where it spawned me in the egg room upon entering the end. This datapack was still super fun and thank you SO MUCH for making a sequel. :)
Also, a bit more about my strategy. I decided to shoot for the bow upgrades immediately so I could keep my distance and not die immediately. I also upgraded quick heal all the way for obvious reasons and got a lot of health. In fact, I started upgrading my sword incredibly late into the playthrough. I did feel like it got somewhat repetitive after a while, though, and I felt way too powerful sometimes. I think the progression was a little fast and kind of the same every time, with little difference between some of the higher level runs. This didn’t deter me, however, because the game is still incredibly fun. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I’m glad a second one got created, though, so I have more to experience. I wonder what class I should go for in my next build. 🤔
Crazy that I just downloaded and played the old version for hours, and while I was playing for the first time you released this new version
you sure are passionate about this data pack, and that's freaking contagious ! keep doing what you're doing !
The Infinite Garden is one of the coolest and most clever concepts I have ever seen in a game
It’d be awesome if in the newest MC update you added a class based around falling and mobility that uses the new mace weapon, and added some kind of boss or challenge in the Trial Dungeons! This update seems infinitely better than the previous state the gamemode was in and that was already super good!
Incredible work. Felt less like a data pack and more like an update video for a full game. Super cool!
Played an earlier version and this fixes every issue I had with it. I'm totally going to check this out!
The whole concept is actually pretty cool. I would recommend something like a phantom boss in order to make use of the most annoying mob in the game.
Make all of the mobs from the first mob vote into bosses.
Heyy I love your datapack and I played a lot with friends!
So much so that I ended up digging through your code and expanding it to suit our needs, so here is some feedback and things i experimented with:
1. often we ended the game with different amounts of points, so I ended up modifying the scores to split all points equally to prevent snowballing of sorts
2. your idea of adding skill points to chests was aweasome! I added new recipes for lots of activities, but your solution was more elegant. I would like to see more combat oriented recipes to encourage different playstyles. I made so mobs drops heads and you can craft with those, it was pretty fun.
3. I made the exact same blaster recipe lol but instead of making smelting super fast i made a new recipe for smelting whole raw ore blocks
4. my friend made me add lucky blocks every time we level up, so i added it to the script, it was really chaotic but hella fun
5. you should add some way to respec our builds
6. the difficulty starts level 1 and you don't really fight mobs since it's day, but when the night starts it goes to level 2 and it makes it much harder
7. I added recipes that use the skill pearl. Like 1 apple + 2 skill pearls = enchanted apple. It was nice because you sacrifice your points for an instant reward
8. i was crashing like crazy because of how far the player got teleported at each new game, maybe you could look into that
Thanks for the mod, it was a blast playing it :)
hey, i dont suppose you could tell me how you made the scores split evenly? I've been playing the data pack with friends but half of them are way further ahead because they spent a lot more time mining. i think this would be a really good change so there work can benefit everyone.
@@dodoking4
I think I did something along this to change the points:
/scoreboard players @a set skillpoints X
For the spliting part you have to do it manually, sum everyones points and divide by the number of people
I'm planning on playing with some friends and I had a question. What happens when a single player dies and what happens to the other players that didn't, will they continue the(ir) run? I was curious if the one who dies just waits around for the other players to also die eventually or is there something different?
@@SSPARROWW when 1 player dies he waits in spectator mode until everyone dies
would be nice to have a mode where if 1 person dies the run ends, it can get a bit boring to the person spectating
@Tiagocf2 noted, I appreciate the feedback and thank you!
You are kicking some serious ass with this datapack and i cant wait to see what other crazy ideas you get!
Can't wait to see how this project evolves! :D
11:22 did NOT expect an Ultrakill reference in a Minecraft video of all things 💀🔥
I love that you can still build a base and whatnot in the infinite garden because it allows for that returning home type feel most roguelites have when you die, and for a more traditional Minecraft feel to be mixed into it.
PLEASE keep working on this dude!!
I never thought someone could actually make Minecraft interesting again to an old player like me, but you did exactly that! I wholeheartedly approve!
i've been waiting for the infinite garden since you vaguely mentioned you wanted to make it in the first video!!! this is awesome!!!!!! going to play this with my friends 100%
Oh hell yeah, loved playing this with my friend, cant wait to try out the new content! Should definitely change weapon/shield models for other classes too, since the Reaper stands out a little much now.
A cool idea would be to add trophies similar to the Twilight Forest mod for killing bosses
It would be so cool to display them in the infinite garden
I honestly think this is such a cool idea, not just as a Minecraft mod, but as a game idea in general. Very well done. I wonder if there could be a way to incentivize building in the infinite garden more? Like a trophy system that people would want to make a museum for, unlocking new building blocks, or a small story line of repairing the destroyed ruins of a small castle?
This may very well be the most impressive datapack I've ever seen, I'm excited to follow you're development journey.
god this is genuinley so cool i would kill for a modpack centered around smthing like this
there's "Vault hunters" is similar but with a sht a ton of mods
i know vault hunters but the gameplay loop from that and this is a little different and i havent been able to get myself to even try vh3 at all casue it sorta scares me
Honestly Rougecraft is the most fun I’ve had with Minecraft for a long time. Super fun early game, just showing how fun the basics of Minecraft survival can be. I kinda hated the dragon fight, feels like it’s still just “wait for a purge, then do damage”, as the attacks aren’t insanely threatening and the boss takes ages. Loved the Wildfire though, and hoping future bosses turn out great!
dude, you're honestly amazing
Как же много сделано за кадром в процессе создания этого датапака. Если судить только по увиденному, это тянет на отдельную игру. Автору респект и уважение!
The Infinite Garden adds a lot of potential for server compatibility/multiplayer. You could totally make it to where you can have a server with your friends where everyone shares the same infinite garden but are able to go on their own runs and get resources for themselves. You could also make a party system so that you can choose whether to do a run with your friends or on your own. But then all of you share the same infinite garden. If you choose to add this multiplayer compatibility you could take two separate routes, but I recommend you do both. 1) Make it to where you can easily set it up on a LAN World, Realm, or personal server. Optimize it for personal use so that anyone can make their own infinite garden with just them and their friends. 2) You can make your own server where everyone on the server shares the same infinite garden and spread out through it using superhighways. Like a traditional survival server where you claim land and form factions, but using this new game mode. This could also be a massive money maker for you. Again though, I think you should do both.
Yes. I'll play it when it has multiplayer. I like minecraft and its mods but i'm a bit burnout from playing RLcraft and many other mods... Being able to play with friends is the only way i might play this, even if it costs money lol
@@memb. it has multiplayer and it works very well
The algo landed me here, and you fixed my core issue with minecraft which is lack of progression. I've enjoyed these 2 hours i played the mod. Thanks for making it
I'm with a huge fever right now but GOD am I gonna try this then it goes away
This is genuinely one of the coolest things ive ever seen on minecraft. The Infinite Garden lowk made my jaw drop. Outside of just being the coolest thing ever, it can have so much potential for future updates
aw the garden idea is so cute
Me and a friend of mine just recorded a playthrough of the datapack for SEVEN HOURS yesterday, and never did I get bored or tired.
I genuinely think this is one of the coolest Minecraft modifications on earth, absolutely amazing job!
Cannot wait to see what kind of new bosses and spells the game might bring in the future.
(Please make the next bosses harder than the dragon it would be so epic to be able to progress for 20+ hours)
this is awesome! probably need to start a new save i imagine. is there any way to get a compass to point to an overworld structure ?(i dont play minecraft much outside of this datapack). going to the stronghold coordinates was my least favorite part of the original, and it doesn't seem anything in this update fixes that. exited to check it out later.
The compass always points to your next goal. Basically, at first it tells you to go to the nether, then it points you to a nether fortress, after beating the Wildfire, it points you back to your portal, and importantly for you, once you're in the overworld, it points you to the stronghold
@@MonoCodeYTAwesome! This is actually perfect!👍
I hadn't been keeping up with this since the first video showing it off, but holy crap the updates to the pack are SO cool! I hope to see more updates for this, and I definitely plan to kidn-I mean, play this with friends! :D
16:20 What is a heart, and what is a soul? I don't think I have any after playing Armored Core 6.
I can not describe how much I have been waiting for a pack like this. I have always wanted an infinite garden style roguelike where the items I get in the run are used outside for a home. Its just. So unique, so great
You can do update adding 1.21 support and mace
Trial Chambers will be cool too
Maybe It can be a location for news boss
He liked the comment im hoping 🙏
If anything for bosses, you could do some common ones like the warden and (like you said) the wither. But also could do a colossal squid or Flying Fortress phantom. An iron golem that’s beefed up or an elder hogglin. Just random ones that have a chance to spawn. Or even ones that the player can spawn themselves, like maybe a volcanic sniffer. Just looking at the other games, like Minecraft dungeons or legends, and those would be good inspirations. Just thought I’d throw my ideas out in the air. Have a good day/night!
Can this have a bedrock edition counterpart please?
this actually looks nuts, and the fact that its a data pack is mindblowing to me fantastic job!
Can it be played multiplayer?
Yes, I believe a large amount of it is actually designed with multiplayer in mind
From the mod page:
"This data pack has been tested and designed with multiplayer in mind. So while it's perfectly playable and enjoyable in singleplayer, it's highly recommended to play this with friends."
The infinite garden working like a minecraft "bedroom" from gachas is absurdly fun, and i dig it so much.
Just discovered this modpack, and is already one of my favorites. Will totally be playing it.
as someone who plays way too many roguelites and has been incredibly close to minecraft, i love you. thank you.
Bro this datapack was so much fun to play with my friend! Thank you for making it!
As a massive fan of rougelikes, this data pack completely refreshed Minecraft for me and I can't wait to see more! Maybe something related to the new trial chambers, like a new boss?
This is simply awesome. I just LOVE how individual, indie creators continue to show-up the average AAA studio time and time again. It really shows to me just how far passion can take you.
WOW! You have been busy. The infinite garden is such a cool concept.
Bro that’s just INSANE! It’s hard to believe this is a data pack and not a mod pack
This was by far the best datapack I've ever played. I'm looking forward for updates
this man single handedly renewed my love for Minecraft and made Minecraft fun again (I just like roguelite/roguelike games more)
I've been having a struggle with motivation to open MC lately. Never have been a good builder and the game's getting monotone.
This gamemode caught my eye and can't wait to try it once i have free time on my hands.
the whole idea of the infinite garden is actually pretty cute, like, a completely different place from the main runs where you can do anything, it really feels like an different dimension
The infinite garden having it so you can still build and create just like in the original Minecraft WITH items you got from previous runs is GENIUS game design.
Not only does it allow for some of Minecraft’s original soul to leak back in as now you can make builds that last forever, but it also adds even more value to each run, as each one gives you more and more items to use in the garden.
this just looks more like a fully fledged mod to overhaul the game rather than just a datapack. great work man!
2:50 for those that want to know, the symbols read "Custos" on the left and "Tyrannus" on the right
Feature idea: a seperate mode, where after a run you get a difference between your current skill point amount and the previous one so you need to earn more points every run in order to progress. For example: on your first run you earn 30 points. You use this points to buy some upgrades, and on your second run you earn 70 points. 70 - 30 = 40 so instead you only get 40 points. You have a total of 70 points including the ones from the previous run. These 30 points are lost, because you already spent them, but in this mode there would be a way to un-buy items. In this mode it would be a lot harder to progress, and you can't just grind 40 point runs forever, you have to earn more each time.
this is actually insane, i love roguelite/like games and this seems so cool. please keep working on this i cant wait to play it
At this point, you already made a new game. It's a compliment.
I love the infinite garden, it makes this roguelite actually feel like minecraft, rather than just another roguelite
I just played through the datapack over the past few days and it is the most fun ive had in minecraft in years!
wow this is so amazing and creative i really hope that the music for the infinite garden is included in the datapack it fits the vibe so well
sadly i removed the system itself bc minecraft's music system is simply kind of weird to deal with, but i did upload the unused songs on my second channel th-cam.com/video/3tACaiU9UVM/w-d-xo.html
One of the coolest mods I have seen for MC. Looking forward to seeing new content.
I do think that it is the greatest data pack i’ve ever seen thank you so much !
The wildfire has hands down gotta be THE best datapack boss I have ever seen. I'd love to see it standalone for things like modpacks or people playing with other datapacks.
i really enjoy the idea of more bosses (though, mini-ones) being around key parts of the game's progression, like how the wildfire unlocks the stronghold and gives you the blaze powder instead of just killing blazes
Ahh! I love the infinite garden, it’s so pretty and a lovely idea to make the runs feel connected!
It looks amazing. So much potential, so much cool ideas. Thanks for making this amazing modpac
This is incredibly fun, I'm really loving this. Awesome experience all around!
This would be awesome in a full-on modpack. Like Vault Hunters but with mods and that Infinite Garden where you return to in order to build your main base.
Would LOVE to see the end-game of a modpack like that be something crazy like Fire & Ice dragons or Draconic Evolution.
The infinite garden is just amazing! Thank you so much for cresting this! and a huge thanks to everyone else involved too!
This datapack is amazing and as you said, this feels like it's just the start.
I beat roguecraft in 16h of playtime and it was the most fun Ive had playing minecraft in a while
WOW this is absolutely INCREDIBLE! I can’t wait to try this!
Nah this is one of the coolest ideas I’ve seen in a while, the infinite garden and meta progression is really thought out and I’m glad you’ve brought the idea to life! Cant wait to play myself soon
fantastic pack :) it’s the most fun I’ve had with solo minecraft probably since I first played it. just beat the ender dragon for the first time. thank you!!!
I see you with that Calamity interlude music
This is soo cool!!! I really liked the previous version and then I saw this video with the best ideas to it. It was perfect.
oh, nad can you update the 3 pictures on the website?
@@Bernixmaster yup, will do that tomorrow
When I heard versus/dual playing, I started to pop off. I knew the wildfire would be sick, and with a presentation like that, boy am I exited.
someone get this man a kick starter for a full fledged development team to make this 1000x more awesome then it already is.
The cosmic dome looks strangely similar to popularmmos’ challenge games arena
Leaving the video early, will try it out myself! Thanks for your hardwork
I think a great addition would be to make ancient cities more common and the warden into a proper bossfight with actual rewards
i had to come comment once i fully grasped the infinite garden. it is such a GOOD idea! it's so awesome, and it fits minecraft WAY too well!
