In this video I restore a vintage dresser for the Ugly Duckling Challenge. This dresser was found on the side of the road and had a missing drawer as well as many damaged bits of veneer and missing handles. I made a new drawer, stripped off the old paint and revealed beautiful natural wood underneath. Addition of vintage brass knobs and new custom wooden legs made it look completely different.

Jay does such beautiful work. I'm so glad for him. Now that he has his new studio things are just getting better and better for him. Just wanted to tell you, Corey, that I think your idea of having seasonal Ugly Duckling challenges was a stroke of genius. Consider that you are bringing furniture lovers and furniture flippers together literally from all over the world. Jay is in the UK, there are people from Australia, I know of one gentleman from Wales, and of course a hard core of Americans. Thanks for doing this Corey, and JAY, BEAUTIFUL WORK! You deserved this win. Great job!

If everyone picked a thing to do, not even full time, but just any thing that they found joy in that had a positive effect on the planet like this... imagine how much better the world would be. I’m always confuse with this kind of comment. Sure, second hand is better for the environnement, but what to think of the energy consumed and all the chemicals used in paint, vaneer and strippers ? I love refurnishing and I think we need to see farther than saving a piece of furniture. Why not being the first youtuber to calculate your carbon footprint when you go outside to find your future masterpieces ? Or at least tell us what to do with the chemicals: ie. How to get rid of them properly without damaging the planet? I know you probably weren’t doing this channel for that kind of content. But heh who knows ? I may have planted a seed in your mind.

Jay…awesome transformation. I love oak. And, yes, because I know so little about how you do what you do,my comments are purely the visual response I get based on my value system. I watch the transformation from beginning to end and the work you do MAKES a new product appear. The elegance that was originally intended is improved upon by your personal commitment to your aesthetic…your sense of what a piece can attain to. THAT is your super-power that just does make everything YOU do very special and individual. Every piece you do brings a new aesthetic beauty. These are words I chose to attempt to share with you how your work is the fine art of rehabilitation AND RECONSTRUCTION that adds value to a piece. Let me tell you that if I had money I would purchase almost every piece you reconditioned and re-designed. It is my singular standing ovation which I, and others, think you deserve. It is always exciting to watch your work and you film it all in a very compelling presentation…and that is another accomplishment that is too easily taken for granted….BRAVO, beautiful JAY/ARTIST/HUMAN!!!! Wow! Your work shows that things aren’t disposable and not to judge a book by its cover. It’s amazing what a bit of care can do to the tired and the weary. As always beautiful job.

I got a 109 year old oak medicine cabinet from a friend. Usually I would chalk paint it and call it done. BUT, because of you, I’ve taken it apart and sanding it and will use Howard’s feed n’ wax and so far I’ve done that back of the mirror with Howard’s and I love it. It’s oak and very dark with shellac. Will show pics b4 & after when done

Think how proud original owners were to bring these home. Worked so hard to save for it only to be unappreciated, neglected, and given away by family.

It is so wonderful to see that people are still into wood working and shop and enjoy doing things with their hands. Thank you very much.
    Amazing job.

I wish solving climate change was as simple as you suggest. However I do congratulate Jay on saving items from landfill, honouring the work of the previous makers, and bringing imaginative works of beauty anew into the world. Thanks Jay 💚
