I don’t think the original maker of this buffet ever dreamed this piece could look this beautiful. The most amazing part of restorations for me is how the beauty of the furniture is in the piece the whole time, it just takes the eye and hands of an artist to help the rest of us see it the way the artist does.😊

I know you said this piece isn’t made too well and there are no straight corners etc, but now, since your renovation, it looks like it’s worth a fortune. The wood grain is spectacular and the subtle colouring of the tree panel is a dynamic talking point. I’m so impressed with this piece Jay, you have captured all of its positive aspects and completely hidden the negative. Another job perfectly done xx

Hi Jay, I just stumbled across this video and kind of remembered how pretty it turned out, so watched it again. And am so glad I did! It turned out gorgeous! I can feel anger for the builder for forcing the elements of it together so securely, but I can also see a poor old man, who loves wood (as I do) and he’s chopping down a tree. He saws the blanks he need to make this cupboard, probably with his crude saw then he doesn’t allow any time to let the wood dry out properly. THAT was his major problem. He’s not a very good carpenter either as he can’t hammer in his nails properly! But, he had an idea and it was a good one. I’m sure he would have screamed when he’d seen the next owner painted it! Why would you!!!!? And luckily YOU came along and rescued it! Thank God it WAS YOU! Only YOU would work for so many hours on getting it as close to perfect as possibly! And what a job it was! But I’ve watched it twice and wholeheartedly loved it both times! The result is MAGNIFICENCE! Did you end up keeping it? I hope so.
I hope you have an album with the before and after of every piece you’ve done! I’d look at it for hours!❤️😊🐈🪵

Most refinishers wouldn't attempt to save that piece. For those brave souls who would, they'd likely paint it, not go to the extreme you do, to get every bit of paint and stain removed, to allow the beauty of the wood to shine! I loved what you did to bring out the beauty of the tree, as well. I love how you do everything you can, to rescue a past treasure. Maybe it's the nurse in you. You see value in every life and try to give patients the best life they can have. You do the same for furniture that's been neglected.

I’m admired your work. Love old furniture. Have a lot of respect for you to go out to find old furniture where most people will throw them away in the landfill. Looking forward to your videos. They’re blessings to all of the viewers. God bless your heart and talents!!! 😇😇😇🙏🙏🙏

Muito bonita essa peça. Eu não pintaria a Árvore da Vida, ao natural já estava perfeita, mas qualquer pessoa de bom gosto adoraria ter esse móvel, tem muita personalidade. E com certeza tem muita história...

Now that was a flippin set drawers that you restored to a beautiful piece of furniture I joined your group as I really enjoy your workmanship and great sense of fun when restoring. I’m in my seventies and used to restore antique sideboards and beside tables with a drill sander don’t use electrical rectangular sanders they where so slow, so I laugh everytime I see you using rectangular sander.

oh Wow! Leaving the cabinet unpainted was a great idea, it showed up the raw beauty of this timber. Painting the tree on the door with 'Rusty Patina' as a brilliant choice, it really made it stand out. ❤

I watch all your videos, repeatedly. It's very soothing to see you do such amazing things to mere wood! This one is my favorite of all the pieces you've done. Love all the cats, love a man who loves a cat. Thanks for sharing your unique sense of humor also. You remind me of my grandson who loves to do beautiful and perfect work.

What a beauty! It's remarquable what you've offered for a second life well deserved to this buffet.

Wow! My gracious! What a stunning, totally fabulous difference! That is wonderful, but it took so-o-o-o much work. Love the way you 'encouraged' the buffet to untwist itself. You are very diligent Mr. D. Love the work on the tree. I endorse every positive comment on this and every other video - with thanks to you. And aren't you lucky to be 11,716 miles away else I might do a spot of cat-napping.
