The chair has come to life again, I love the blonde colour, it has warmth and softness. I love that you have cat breaks although dogs and cats do like to supervise any activity😄.❤
I love that you stop work for the cat visits. And I love that you love the cats. They are my favourite pet, though I adore all animals. Would love an old rocking chair like this one. Fabulous transformation.
It looks like your Inspectors gave your work their final approval!! Amazing how you take something that looks worthless and you make it useful again! Awesome!! TFS. 🐈🐈⬛🐈😊❤
Thank you, love that you used your homemade shellac as the finish on the old rocker. It suited it perfectly. It’s a very pretty, but practical looking chair. Enjoyed seeing your kitty neighbours checking out the new scent at the end, so typical. ❤🐈⬛🐈.
Sanding is becoming your middle name, but here's another beautiful result. (It was even awarded the cat seal of approval, a comfortable chair's highest accolade. :-) )
What a sweet, old chair. A house really can't have too many rocking chairs, especially for visits from Hugo and Rufus. I love the splotchy finish because it goes with the old style of the chair. Something fancy would not be true, even with all your repairs. Thank you for another visit to your workshop, and cheers from Oklahoma!!!
When I first watched your channel I kept saying why is he picking pieces that are so fair gone. It was only the third episode I realized that you were pushing yourself increasing your skill. Good for you. It’s great for the watcher because we can see what can be done. Thank you.
The final results section really got me this time. In the garden with the blanket, it felt like it had a whole story behind it. I personally was picturing a elderly Victorian woman reading a book quietly in her garden.
I really like that the finish isn't perfect, it really tells a story. How many people have sat on that chair? rocked the baby, cuddled a cat, read a book, drank a cup of tea in it? The cats seem very impressed! ❤❤❤
Aside from thoroughly enjoying seeing your creations and refurbishing of old furniture.. i gotta say, your voice is very soothing to listen to.. Thank you for all you do. 😊
I have my Great Grandfathers chair in much the same condition yours started in. Can't find anyone wanting to take on the project so clearly I will need to do it myself. Now I have an idea how to do that. Thank you!
Really great sanding job, Jay! And very refreshing to see a piece of furniture that is'nt smeared with dark brown colour at the end, which seems to be the norm right now:)
That poor old rocking chair was in awful shape when you first got it. Your restoration was fantastic!! The final results were gorgeous!!! It's pretty clear that Hugo and Rufus approved! What more do you need? 😊
So kind of you, Jay to restore the rocking chair for Hugo and Rufus to relax in when they need a nap after a exhausting session of inspection of the latest project. Chair has many more years of work ahead being sat on, it is happy it was rescued from a rubbish pile.
You have received the best response to your chair from the cats! They love it, so it's "Cat Approved". I love it too. It turned out beautifully! Everything you do is amazing, and I would definitely watch all 6 hours of any video that you would make! 20 minutes is just too short. Your voice is so soothing, and your interactions with those beautiful cats make me smile. I am a cat slave for my two girls. Three others have passed in the last three years. I miss them dearly.
I loved your brutal honesty about all of the sanding on this rocker. Made me chuckle. The end result was so worth all of the effort. And your models did a great job. I hope they were paid in scratches and treats.
Since the cats are seemingly very happy with it, I would say it was a huge success. And as for people approval? I love it. Thanks for saving this sweet old piece.
I love the completed chair! Im glad you used a simple shellac finish, it didnt need a dark stain. You did a wonderful job with all the repairs! Thanks for sharing!
Oh I love it! It is like magic but with a whole lot of sanding lol!!! I love you attention to detail and how you give new life to old forgotten furniture. It is a wonderful thing. I will see you next time. Oh and the cats are a nice touch. 😁
OhJay, I love that rocking chair. Love every detail to it n you keeping it to its natural color I love so much. You did a beautiful job on it. Fixing that break, you can’t even see it. You take so much pride in each piece you do. It’s perfection at its best. ♥️♥️♥️😊👍👍👍🌟🌟🌟
Jay, I agree with you on the shellac (it's hard AND easy). But, you 'can' dab a bit of denatured alcohol on the drip and rub it gently with a cotton swab if you want to get it before it's totally dry. It won't (or will be LESS likely) to leave a mark. 😀
The Sanding job on this one is incredible - the beauty that came out, Gorgeous❣️ love the simplicity of the stain…enhances the beauty already there. The Before picture was a Throw Away, just ain’t no way! After is an absolute thing of beauty😊
I love rocking chairs and this one came out beautifully! Like you, I think the coloration of the seat adds to the character. I am sure my 2 cats would like it as much as your feline friends. One of my cats has claimed my rocker as hers and there is no added cushion, she just likes it.
Absolutely love your restoration videos and your voice is always very calming to me. Not that I would want you to change anything, but if you would happen to put up more footage of the beautiful cats, i would not complain in the least!😂
Every time I see the cats on the videos I want to comment on how beautiful they are... And today I just had to! They're so majestic, they're like "model" cats lol. And so nice to see that Hugo lets you rub his belly, that's not common on cats! He must really like/trust you. Loved the chair as well! Hugs!
when watching your vids, i can kinda tell which are older based on your tools and methods. It's really nice to see how you've "grown" in your passion. I hope one day to be able to grow that way too, and with your vids, one day i'm sure i will. so thank you!
This was a nice job on this old rocker. You're very talented at fixing furniture boo boos. 😅 Please don't think the kitties are using you as an excuse to get treats. Sometimes it is difficult to let someone scratch your belly until you can trust them! 😂 Super job made to look easy. Great work! ❤
I must admit that going back through previous video's that this one would have to be my favourite. I love rocky chairs, they're such an underrated piece of furniture and super sleek and it certainly warmed my heart to see this one restored to its former glory. And even the neighbourhood felines agree that it's good. 😍❤👍
Many years ago, my wife bought me 2 spindle backed, cane seat, antique chairs in very bad condition. I pulled the worn out cane seating out of them. Then I just sat in a chair in the driveway when I had nothing else to do and hand sanded the entire 2 chairs, spindles and all. Then I found a guy locally in Long Beach, California who sold pre-woven caning material. I bought the caning and splining from him and had him give me a training on how to install it. After I had soaked the caning material overnight, I carefully installed it the chairs and let it dry. When dry I tested the seats and they seemed very tight. I did a light stain on the oak frame of the chairs, but left the caning natural. I went back to the shop that sold me the materials and tested his seats for tension. I was very proud that my seats were tighter than his. Now about 50 years later one of the chairs’ caning has broken through. I’ll have to contact my antique dealer friends to see if they know anywhere I can find the caning material again. I heard 10+ years ago from an experienced antique dealer that to have caning custom woven, they charge for every hole in the material-yikes!
Even sick with a serious case of bronchitis & can’t help but laugh (and cough) at the “2000 years later”. 🤣🤧 I found the info you shared on shellac. Thank you for saving this beautiful rocker.
Love the tools. They didn't have these when I was refinishing furniture 20 years ago. Also, love that the cats come to visit and you always give them some of your time!❤
The chair turned out incredibly beautiful. I always learn something from watching your videos- like where Shellac comes from! Haha. 😂 My favorite part of every video is to watch you with the kitties. Literally, I think you are their owners! I lost a cat this July. He loved everyone! He played with the neighbor kids, visited my older neighbors and was just simply liked by all. I was touched to see how many of our neighbors actually helped us search as he was missing. They all felt like he was also their cat. We eventually did find his body, and the neighbors have all mourned with us. It’s amazing to have had a cat as special as him. These cats seem so similar. And you are so kind and patient with them. I wish the entire world could be like you when dealing with other peoples pets. Thanks so much for sharing so much with us. I look Forward to your videos every week!
I love that you used the technical term "puncture thingy", it made my day. You do excellent work and I am sure you couldn't do it without the supervision of the cats!
Cat tested and approved. That is all you need to know. They chose you as one of their people, and appreciate your work as much as we do.❤
Somehow I missed this comment 🤔 thank you 🤩
You may not own Hugo, Mia, or Rufus, but they own you. 😺
😻😂 100%
@@Flippingdrawers When you made the snacks comment I said: "We teach cats how to train us." 😆
Great use of domestic appliances Jay with fantastic results 😊 Those kitties have you wrapped around their little furry paws. ❤
All the fun but none of the litter cleanup!
100% true, and they are deserving of everyone who loves them
The furbabies approve, most definitely. I too think you've done an amazing job. Love it 😍🖤🤎
Hugo and Rufus love the chair! I love the selac color! This old chair deserves some TLC , it will be happy in your home with your kitty visitors!
I see that your dining clientele approve of your restoration work. 🎉
The chair has come to life again, I love the blonde colour, it has warmth and softness.
I love that you have cat breaks although dogs and cats do like to supervise any activity😄.❤
Beautiful restoration, and Rufus looks marvelous sitting in it.
Awww, Hugo! Looks like somebody wants to be the channel mascot!
I love how you are very caring about the people when you say Hello beautiful people you are a kind person
I can't believe you saved it!! I didn't think it could be saved, but you made it beautiful again. You are amazing! It's a masterpiece.
Thank you! Cheers!
I love that you stop work for the cat visits. And I love that you love the cats. They are my favourite pet, though I adore all animals. Would love an old rocking chair like this one. Fabulous transformation.

A real character piece- and I’m not talking about the feline appearances! Also it’s interesting to learn about shellac. Beautiful results, as always.
Sweet like honey! Beautiful and really appreciated by the neighbor's cats! Thanks so much for sharing
Sanding is becoming your middle name, but here's another beautiful result. (It was even awarded the cat seal of approval, a comfortable chair's highest accolade. :-) )
I like the weathered look of the finished product. It shows that the chair is old, but it also reveals its character.
Glad you like it 😊
Beautiful job! I think the kitties all approve, too! 😊
I love that you didn't stain it but kept the wonderful grain.
Cats are a excellent judge of character. They know you a a good person. The chair turned out beautiful.
Thank you 😊
yw@@Flippingdrawers
We all know sanding is your FAVORITE thing to do!😂😂😂 beautiful job!😍🤩
What is a project without 2000 years of sanding?
Rufus and Hugo approved! Lots of tedious work but a beautiful transformation…
Another beautiful result. Never saw that trick of using compressed air to push glue into a joint. Always learning new ideas from your videos.
And the kitties have claimed it. Beautiful restoration, Jay. Now on to the next. I'm excited
Thank you 😊

Simply beautiful. Always a great pleasure watching how take a piece that’s headed for the landfill and give it new life. Great job!
Beautiful little rocking chair, back to its former glory or possibly even better.
Loved the rebuild and you did a great job. The cats liked the new chair also.
Beautiful chair, thank you for saving it and giving it new life!!
Chair turned out absolutely lovely, I like the lighter color. And the fur bosses approved as well! Such beautiful cats!
Thank you!
Wow, the lighter color makes it look more modern. Very nice, and cat-approved as well.
The highest form of approval is cat approval, so since they both seemed to want to sit in it, you have done an excellent job! 😻
Thank you! 😊😻
Very nice. Repaired without losing the age.
Lovely restoration approved by the fur babies and humans alike!
*ABSOLUTELY beautiful restoration, Jay❣️💛🙂*
So glad you restored this old beauty.
Thanks.
I’d totally watch a 3 hour video of yours.
I’m so glad the kitties approved! ❤
Turned out beautifully. Glad the kitties liked it. Definitely kitty approved.
Thank you! 😊
All the sanding & repairs were worth it! Turned out great! 😺

That has got to be the cleanest workshop I've ever seen.
I went to the store and asked for a 'thingy' and they didn't know what I was talking about. 😃
not a good store 🤷🏼♂️
@@Flippingdrawers 😄😄😄
Very nice! I love that the cats always come over for an inspection 😂
Thanks. It’s actually a pretty funny coincidence that they came when I was taking photos 😻
@@Flippingdrawers You know there's no such thing as 'coincidence', right?
I think they visit when the storm of drills, sawdust and spray paint have settled.
I’m glad you left the seat the way it is now. It gives it character. Great piece 😃
Glad you like it!
I really like this piece because it shows it’s age after being restored. Gorgeous!
It is good to see that the cats approve.😉 Great job on the chair. It looks beautiful!

Lovely! The chair looks inviting... so nice to see that your kitty friends think so too. Nice company to keep. ♥
