  • Rebuilding a NP231J for use behind a 4L60e. packed full of tech and how-to. This transfer case is going to be mated to a 4L60e that will be mated to a Ford 5.0 with a Procharger in a 92 YJ

    At 26 minutes into the video you use a black gasket sealer. What is it and who makes it? The container seems to have a squeeze handle to dispense the sealer. Are you happy with that brand of sealer? If so, I will go get some. Thanks for this video. Well done.

      its considered the ultra by permatex.Everyone has so many videos about which is best and the black is very good in this type.You can get at o-rilleys or anywhere auto store.But check out the green that is same ,sensor safe ,high temp,very resistent to gear oil,trans fluids and atf fluids.So your choice but im going with the gear oil green this time just cause all the black if you use too much,as with all ends up in bottom of covers and filters,etc.The green was recomended by a pro to me.So thats another story.I did look at the data sheets and so much is the same until you come to anerobic,style sealeants.

    noticed on the synchro gear on your is not in my 99 231-j.So im assuming this is why i shoiuld not or cannot do the shift on the fly or is this wrong?Going from 2 high to 4 high

      correct, you can get a synchro and toss it in.
