    I bought a Blind Hole bearing puller kit for less than $50 off of eBay. It made this task very doable w/o cutting the race, etc.

    Lock rings. And I saw you strip that bolt lol I have an np242 in my ZJ. Awesome T-case. Way better than the other 2 options and I rebuilt it 8 years ago.

    My 2002 WJ has this loud roaring kind of grinding noise. I have changed from wheel bearing and all u joints. I drove it without the front axle and it was quieter but still seem loud. I just know it has to be this. Thanks for the video. This is going to be a future project.

    So the 242 select trac doesn't have a hydraulic coupler? It splits the torque in full time mechanically?

    Great videos, I’m getting ready to rebuild one for first time myself, in my opinion the only thing I seen in your video that I would have done different is I would’ve went with a U T shirt instead of A&M! Thanks bro

    Greetings, great detailed video. I have a question/explanation at 18:11. A new sealed bearing was installed opposed to an open one.

    Nice job.I probably would have replaced the chain for safe measures.Especially for the fact you have high mileage on the jeep...

    I wouldn't put sealed bearing, they are not designed for this application, bearing won't get lub

    Hi nice job!
    Just finally, never assy back yoke with hammer wrench, just with manual to avoid the bearing or housing crack..

    Did the rebuild fix the noise you were hearing? Also, where was your magnet? I was taking mine apart to do the Tom Wood's SYE. I found ground black pepper size pieces of metal in mine so I'll rebuild it as well

    Man you did a great job in this video. I have a 2000 xj that need to be rebuilt and after watching your videos on it looks simple. Going to do mine now thanks for the video. What lift do you have in yours. Badass man

    At 18:55, you installed the input seal backwards.

    • @tkbouffard5725
      @tkbouffard5725 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Noticed it as well.
      It can be so easy to screw up. I take picture of everything just in case. It can come in handy a later time. I rebuilt a NP 242 once and forgot the rear output shaft washer that protect the seal from the snap ring...6 month later...surprise. I don't think that seal orientation will matter much but for sure , there will be some minor leakage down the road

    • @tkbouffard5725
      @tkbouffard5725 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually...he did install it right. The input seal has the spring visible on both sides. I even fooled me. Well done Donny. Super helpful build.

    Did you have some seals left over when you finished the rebuild? I am doing this job and have the same kit. I am thinking the kit came with too many seals. I can't find 8 seals in the case.

    When replacing the needle bearings on the output shaft, do they all come with a plastic cage? Mine did not and all the bearings just fell out.
