Continuing our Instagram Story where viewers shared what flies they might want to see tied. We received a lot of requests for flies for Largemouth Bass. This is one of our favorites. We don't fish different flies for largemouth vs smallmouth, we use different flies for fishing still water vs moving water.

here in the foothills of the blue ridge mountains in NC wooly buggers are my number 1 for bass fishing. being disabled now I don't get to fish as much but I still make flys and lures that work great. as far as deer hair I had over 500 colors but down probably 375_400 colors. from years of deer hunting I take 7 different parts of the hide and tail giving me 7 tones of a color. I developed around 100 color recipes with RIT clothing die . some bright some earthtone . I noticed this week some blue deer hair with some fading after probably 10 to 15 years kept in craft bags. I would gladly share my dye recipes with outher fly tiers/ fisherman. papa wishing you well 😊

I love the maribou addition to a Clouser. Has more action than straight bucktail.

I like to use the half n half closer. Pretty close to your Maribou. I’ll have to try these.

Hey y'all need to do more fly tying videos! I'm in Chattanooga and watched y'all with WILD FLY fishing for bass in Alabama. Nice to see some warmwater stuff going on! I'm a panfish man myself! Anyways keep at it. Love your work!

Might use chartreuse or a darker bucktail on the upper side of the tie… and a little less.

I'm new to fly tying, & all the clousers i've seen tied ,they used about 1/2 the amount of buck tail. Is the any reason you used large clumps of buck tail & what is a good looking piece of buck tail hanging in the store, sorr for such dumb question, but that is the only way i know to learn great looking fly

Why didn’t you tie the dumbbell side buck tail all the way back on the hook. Bigger profile?

Does not resemble a Clouser in any way. Think you need to rename it.
