  • **ETA: I will (try to) add a photo of the completed mini flip-fold later today.
    This video is the epitome of “squirrel “. In it I answer viewer questions from my previous video, I share the fabulous idea Tracie had of promoting new TH-cam channels (,or, in my case, Tracie Fox DT member channels) and I show how I make a mini flip journal using nothing but scraps.
    *I will come back and add the channel names/links. (Truth) I find it a whole lot easier to add and edit after the video has uploaded.
    Thank you for watching and happy creating.

    Oh Cori, you make me chuckle with your "squirrel." Actually I love it when you go down the rabbit holes, and I would still be watching and listening if your videos ran 2 hours & would love every minute of it. I have been paper crafting for many years, and you still give me so many ideas and a lot of enlightenment with your "squirrels." I hope you will continue with this type videos. I love them!

    I love your videos Cori. Don't ever apologise for squirreling. We learn so much from it. And, using the Laminater to dry items and get bubbles out of glue, well that is fantastic. I am going to have to try and find mine and dust it off. Thanks for being you. xx

    Oh, Miss Cori, you worry way too much! I wish you didn't feel that you have to apologize so much. These videos are a treasure to us. You, in your process, share so much information that is valuable, and I, for one, am always inspired. I love the laminating trick, as I had been turned off of using a glue stick because my projects would come apart, and I was always trying to repair with other glues. Thanks for "being yourself".

      Thank you Susan. It's always my goal to keep a variety of creative people in mind, and I know that many only have small patches of time to watch videos, which others have a bit more open schedule and prefer longer videos. Balance. I just need to remind myself to find a balance. Happy Thanksgiving!

    I'm going back and watching your old videos. So many wonderful tips and that mini is adorable! Your squirrels find a delightful path to go down; always interesting and usually educational. I feel like I'm sitting across from you at the table, when you are talking and walking the squirrel. Maybe I enjoy it so much because I have my own herd of squirrels! Lol. You are so delightful! Thank you very much!

    Cory, I love your channel and even wish sometimes that your videos were longer. You always say you are taking to long in a video. I just love listening to you. I love your teaching skills. This last week, well on the 19th actually, I lost my son as he died in his sleep and to occupy my mind I turned on your videos. I went thru all the flips, flaps and folds. I’m now starting on the scrap busters. You have really been there for me this last week and thought you should know. So don’t ever think that you are not interesting and people don’t really listen or enjoy your teaching. We are out here!!! And I really appreciate you!

    Good Morning Cori, I just finished watching the Tracie video that you mentioned . I love love watching everything that you do, your such a good teacher. I’m glad to know that I’m not the only person that purchases items to try new methods and just haven’t had the time to do it. I’m afraid that in my case it’s a bit of impulse buying until I actually use it, then at least I can justify the purchase. Have a great Holiday.

    I love that teeny tiny trifold! By paying it forward I subscribed to Moira and Kitts corner and commented on their videos. Moira gave me a heart as an acknowledgment! And checked out their videos some of which I saved. They are wonderful! I never knew that folding could result in so many fun and different ideas. I’m gonna try to make the tiny one. I saved all your other “folds” videos. You are correct in saying to be yourself when you’re collaging or making these fun things. I tried to do a few like Patty pockets or like Rachel of Roxy Creations and once I figured out how to do a collage I just used my own stuff and expressed myself in how I collaged it. And you know what? Most of them turned out pretty good! Who’d a thunk it? I sure don’t know how you manage to teach full-time and do these collage videos. Thanks for your insights and creativity.

    Thanks for talking about the squirrels. I started following the junk journal/art/journal community during the pandemic and it was a constant bombardment of things I absolutely had to do. So I have lots of supplies that it seems I never have time to get around to using. I think I have found my comfort zone and I have learned which channels are just infomercials. This little folio is a great adaptation of the concept and sometimes the best videos are not the concise instructional, although I generally prefer them.

    • @CoriDahmen
      @CoriDahmen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear you Victoria! I understand the need and purpose for infomericals, but that's not my thing. I'm happiest in my teach-the-things comfort zone, but I remind myself that it's (occasionally...) good to spread my wings.

      Squirrel is simply that. You start walking in one direction, you see something or think of something, you get sidetracked and whammo. You’re off on a tangent and doing something other than what you intended. Squirrels do that all the time… darting to and fro…. Hence, squirrel 🐿

    I’m addicted to your videos. Checked out your pay it forward recommendations and added them to my subscriptions. I’m looking for someone to show me how to do the beeswax on paper. I know you’ve mentioned it in one of your tutorials, which I need to find so I know what/where to purchase. I have waxed the fronts abs backs of some of my mini journals with layers of paraffin wax, then heat with blow dryer. It’s a nice effect and strengthens the paper. But I’d like to try the beeswax.

    I had to pause the video to comment on the use of your Etsy shop to purchase books for your students. As a 20+ year teacher, I understand the struggle to provide your students with materials they need for learning. I commend you on your willingness to put so much love and labor into giving your students books. At the same time, it is a sad reflection on our society that you have to do this when the school and lager community should be providing for our children’s education. They are the future and well worth the investment by our communities; the burden should not be place on teachers to work a second job in order to adequately supply our schools. That said, I’ll be looking for your Etsy shop to open so I can help out as well as treat myself to some of your beautiful work.

    • @CoriDahmen
      @CoriDahmen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank yu Diana, both for the kind comments and for your service as a teacher. I *know* kids don't need to have a physical book in their hands to listen and learn and experience them, but I sure think it helps many and I want them to have that option. I just wish this year wasn't so rough and that I had more time available to stock and sell items to buy the kids books for our novel studies. I will keep you all posted and thank you very much for your interest.

    I just started trying to use glue sticks, I’m using the scotch brand. I have noticed that after a day or so maybe not even that long, the paper lifts. It does not stay stuck down. What am I doing wrong?

    • @CoriDahmen
      @CoriDahmen  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Even though I do use them, I stick by my belief that glue sticks are for kindergartners. Honestly, I only use them to hold something in place while I make a permanent adhesion another way (usually through sewing). I like Uhu, since I can no longer get the Gorilla glue sticks, but even that doesn't hold as well as I'd like.

    I was hoping you would reconsider telling the name of the channel that reminded you of scrapbooking stuff? I know you don't want to be negative and I would just say this. Inspiration can come from anywhere - whether you like something and want to do it or you don't like it and want to change it. I would still like to know because I'm new to this art form and I don't know what you're talking about so I'd like to go see it. Maybe you can help build a new channel - maybe that person will get better - etc...
