  • This video shows how I attached the 6” x 6” base pages to the spine we created in the cover episodes. I showed both machine sewn and 5-hole pamphlet stitch ways to attach the pages to the spine. This was attempt number 5 at this video, so please comment below with any questions and I’ll answer them. Thank you for watching and happy creating.

    Lots of great information! Thank you for sticking with it and filming it 5 times. I don’t think people who don’t record videos understand how much extra is required to make a video. I appreciate it more than I can express. You are such a great teacher and I thank you for sharing this stuff. Never thought of making a book like this but I like it. I recently bought a journal on Amazon (for the paper) and it’s bound really different. Maybe I’ll try to share it on your Etsy because I’ve never seen a book bound like this but it’s really kinda cool.

    No apologies necessary! Your instructions are answering questions I have had…and I think most of us here are familiar with our own “stuff happening” in private as opposed to your stuff happening on a tape with an actual audience, so just don’t even worry about it! I also think that we are pretty familiar with fast forwarding or just exercising a wee bit of patience. I have certainly had to down tools and take a few calming breaths before the project I am working on is launched (not gently) across the room! You carry on and don’t worry about us. We’re fine.

    At first when getting my pages together I didn't realize you put two pages in each signature, so I made more but find when I try to add one page to each one, the thickness of the muslin makes the inside page wider, so I will have to cut the excess off?? You did not mention it so did yours not do that?

    • @CoriDahmen
      @CoriDahmen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure what you mean? My inside pages did not need to be adjusted, beyond what is shown. Maybe we had different fabric thicknesses?

    @angelahoynes5649 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sorry this video was frustrating for you. I have not seen this method of cutting the 12 x 12 in to 6 x 6 and then joining them together before. I wonder why you didn’t leave them as 12 x 6 ? Does it make for a more flexible page doing it your way, for instance? Also does it make the pages stronger at the join? As you can tell, still learning!

    • @CoriDahmen
      @CoriDahmen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Angela! I used this hinge system fir a few reasons. Yes, absolutely you could cut at 12” x 6”, then fold and sew. My goal was for frayed, sturdy bases as I knew I’d be adding considerable bulk to each page. I found that the join is notably more substantial and durable when I use fabric versus paper. It’s a bit different look and feel, and I knew I’d be opening the pages frequently.

    I'm confused about the spine cover, why is it so short?

      Because the journal itself is not full sized.
