I started my strongman hobby at 49 y.o. Local show with USS. This year at 52 y.o. I competed at USS Nationals. You can jump in anywhere in strongman...
@sunbeamcostrength dude that's awesome to hear. I'm gonna look into it!! For me it's too late to "enhance" myself but I can compete natural and see how it goes for fun
@@DadGetsFit We can always be better than yesterday, buddy. I am 100% natural (and always have been). The strongest thing I take is creatine in my coffee. And yes, it is absolutely fun!
@sunbeamcostrength that's all I take (and way too much caffeine lol). That's good to hear tho. Thanks for the insight. I'm from NY, and to my surprise there is zero strongman/strength community here. Other than gym bros. So it's been a steep learning curve. But being almost 40 and slapping 500lbs on my back for the first time felt great. I'll continue to push 💪
@@DadGetsFit Look up Scott Fike in Lockport, NY. I competed with him at Nats this year and he puts on a USS event every year, and competes regularly. Great guy.
Lucas didn't get that last rep, and Tim Buck didn't cross the line in the yoke either. Crazy people being paid to stand and stare at this one thing can't seem to see what's happening right in front of them. Changes the outcome of a competition. Very strange.
I agree. I had a very shaky final rep on log. I would not have given it to me, but in the rules it stated that there would be no protests on rep quality if a down command was given. The judge gave me a down command. I would have kept fighting if he didn’t
Nawww definitely not. And Tim Buck didn't cross the line in the yoke either. Crazy people being paid to stand and stare at this one thing can't seem to see what's happening right in front of them. Very strange.
@@oldgrannywheelsI received a down command, so I put it down. If they hadn’t I would have kept fighting. I admit it was far from a good rep, but I was following judge commands
Good day Lucas good day!!!!! Do it again tomorrow!!!!
Love your content man it's the best from a strength competitor point of view and not just strongman enjoyer 🙏 we can learn a lot
the recovery on that second yoke pick was ridiculous, that boy stayed straight as an oak tree
Looking good thru Day 1 Lucas! Keep it up!
The man with arms like legs, and legs like people
LETS GO! Day 1 in books!
Seeing you guys tear this up makes me wish i wasnt 39yrs old and 40lbs overweight. Wish i found strongman 10 years ago

Nice work, good luck in day 2!
Is it really America’s strongest without Brain Shaw? I miss that man already
We all do!
Let’s go!!!
Very competitive comp
Congrats on the win pal, such a small crowd for america's strongest man though?
Boom
Hydrate big dawg!! 💪🏼. Eat some bananas
This is clearly an opportunity to get sponsored by LMNT.
That shield is bad ass. How heavy was it?
Hopefully, your hamstring doesn't bother you in the future.
Great job! Keep it going!
@@xiejun5680 425. It was a brutal custom build
@@HattonStrength Huge carry! I'm cheering for you to win!
How come when you clean the log you get it to your chest and then step out? Is that better than just having your feet already set in that position?
It’s admittedly inefficient. I prefer to clean thinner than I like to press. Down the road I need to pick one and stick with it
@@HattonStrength fair enough 👍 good luck with the rest of the show sir.
1:30 Dude has already won the comp

@@HattonStrength You did exactly what you should. Just confused by the officials.
