This channel is my GO TO for all things Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep Pentastar. I've learned so much over the years from David as he is one of the most knowledgable in regards to all things Chrysler products.
The key phrase in this video: Take your time. The P-Star is an engine that requires much patience and long-suffering to achieve effective service results; at least in my case. 😄 As always, thanks for the great advice David!
I did this on my 17 charger with the p-star in it I lost my patience with it after I got done I gave up and put it back together but I have to go back in to it anyways cause I don't think I got the cam shaft sensor seal in all the way and I think the spark plug tube seals slide as well
Thanks, David. I enjoy your Pentastar videos. I own two of them, and they're getting older (10 and 6 years), even though they've been 100% trouble free. One is lifetime maxcare, so that one's not my problem, but the other isn't. Well done, sir!
Thanks David for continuing to make content on the 3.6 Pentastar engine. I have to do valve train and several other repairs on my 2014 T&C. You have been a HUGE help with these well made videos! Thank you, Tony!
Half way through the video I found myself wondering about those seals and if they come in a separate kit....you being so complete with your vids include the info at the end....thanks for that!
It's like you know what I'm working on. Your last couple of videos were perfect timing. You saved me some 💰. I was going to replace all my coils, but it looks like I'm just replacing the boot of one. I'll also be replacing the pcv valve and valve cover seals.Thank you for the videos.
Luv my 3.6 zero oil leaks even the oil cooler is original on a 2013 GC. Even my previous ride 3.2 LH motor zero leaks kudos to mopar for no oil on my driveway.
Dorman has me covered when it finally lets go, it only lasted this long because it never sees the inside of a quick lube place and the spline gun stays put in the garage…
I changed that spark plugs, coils and coil boots last night. My coil boots were nice n dry so I didn't have to change the seals. I never knew the oil filler neck came off like that.
I never have to take the filler tube off but if you ever have to you can as you saw. Now you shouldn’t have to do much for another 100,000 miles…..fingers crossed
@@MotorCityMechanicHi there. I'm going to replace the spark plugs & coils on my 2013 Chrysler 300 V6. A sales tech at a local shop told me I'll also have to replace the intake manifold gasket and O-rings since they're 1 time use. I can't figure out where the O-rings go, I've never done this work on this car. They sell a the gasket kit and it comes with six O-rings. Any help/tip/advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you
David can you please do a video on the 3.6 knock sensors? When that oil cooler/filter housing goes the knock sensors are in a coolant oil bath and the connections get fouled. There appears to be a pigtail harness that is replaceable along with the sensors. I’ve read the sensors are very sensitive to proper torque.
Cool your videos I have a Dodge Journey 3.6 I wanted to know how many pounds the oil cooler bolt is, and how many pounds the valve cover bolt is thanks
Bought it “complete” with converters and even the 62RE transmission. Think I paid less then $1000 and have made a ton of videos on both the engine and trans. Was well worth it.
2015 jeep grand cherokee with an oil leak on the passenger side front most spark plug. Most likely this seal? Thanks again with the help on the oil in coolant issue i had and your recommendation to go after the oil cooler assembly first. I replaced it this weekend and flushed the system and am confident that was the issue.
@erikguerrero7548 I swapped the oil cooler/filter housing assembly and it resolved the oil in the coolant issue I had. I have the parts but have not replaced the spark plug tube seals yet
Good video I like it like always is good to have someone who takes his time to explain it in the best way possible thanks a lot Would you make a video about the TPMS module location and replacement for a 2013 Chrysler Town and Country, since I can’t find it in my, I also went to a junkyard, looked for its location on years 11-13 and didn’t find any. Would you help me or if possible reply to this comment, thank you again and have a good one
I did this on my 17 charger with the 3.6 in it I think ones of the spark plug tude seals slide because its leaking oil again. I also dont think I got the cam shaft sensor seal in all the way as well
How about problems with carbon build-up in #2 cylinder of a 3.6 VVT engine in 2014 Chrysler Town and Country causing misfires, do you have any info or insight on that issue?
On my 2011 jeep grand cherokee lardeo. 3.6. As I am removing the valve cover, it hits the transmission dipstick. Preventing me from removing the cover. I'm stumped. What tips do you recommend?

Thanks for the tip of adding grease to the seal! Seeing you again is better than the Super Bowl this weekend!!!
Wow many thanks. With me not being a big football fan I almost forgot about it happening 😂.

Thanks for following the channel and for watching these videos!
Thanks David. Your videos are so helpful. I appreciate the time you take to do them.
Never forget about the seals especially on a promaster. Thanks once again .
Very true. Don’t want to have to do it twice
Great tip about lightly lubing your new parts as a diyer myself I always do this especially with new seals
It certainly helps when reinstalling the valve cover.

One day it will leak…..just mainly from one place but you might beat the odds…..fingers crossed

Appreciate the support!
Helped me with this job tremendously...Thanks

Of all the 3.6L engine I have ever worked on (hundreds)….i have never had to replace a knock sensor.
@@MotorCityMechanic Oh thank you! Great to know. Was worried about having to replace them after seeing them sitting in coolant.
Awesome Dave. As always you rock.
The older slant six had rubber oil seals on the spark plug tubes, as well as hemi engines.
Thanks again for another very clear description and video
Your very much welcome
Another great video and info
Next week I repaint a used car in a dealership parking lot….make sure to watch 😂
Cool your videos I have a Dodge Journey 3.6 I wanted to know how many pounds the oil cooler bolt is, and how many pounds the valve cover bolt is thanks
Thanks 2012 Chrysler Town & Country
V6-3.6.
So qhere did rhat engine come from? Was it a core? It sure has been beneficial to your channel.

@@MotorCityMechanic 👍great ROI!
@@MotorCityMechanicTy for buying that engine and trans David! My 2014 T&C has 80,000 miles and these videos, tips and clues are priceless! Ty, Tony!
You are great. Keep it up. God bless you.
always very informative
Many thanks
Do you know why Chrysler has the pcv valve interlock with the exhaust cam ??
Another good tip. Thank you David
What's the name of the grease you're using for the tube seals?
2015 jeep grand cherokee with an oil leak on the passenger side front most spark plug. Most likely this seal?
Thanks again with the help on the oil in coolant issue i had and your recommendation to go after the oil cooler assembly first. I replaced it this weekend and flushed the system and am confident that was the issue.
Did u do the swap? Did it fix the issue ?
@erikguerrero7548 I swapped the oil cooler/filter housing assembly and it resolved the oil in the coolant issue I had. I have the parts but have not replaced the spark plug tube seals yet
@@chadhubenerahh yes the oil filter housing, ive had to change that quite a bit caue the gaskets kept getting worn on em
Would the spark plug tubes also work has a lineman devils say that they're both broken off
The spark plug tubes would work as a guide
Good video I like it like always is good to have someone who takes his time to explain it in the best way possible thanks a lot

Is this why one of my spark plug is oily ? Or is it a deeper problem in the cylinder for the plug
Excellent video, thank you.
What is your honest assessment of these v6 motors? I have heard a lot of disparaging comments about them.
What is the best way to replace the serpentine belt tensioner / pulley. I don't have a lift and mine is getting a bit noisy on my 2015 200c 3.6
How about problems with carbon build-up in #2 cylinder of a 3.6 VVT engine in 2014 Chrysler Town and Country causing misfires, do you have any info or insight on that issue?
Never seen any carbon issues what so ever. The older heads had issues with burnt valve seats on the left head that were fixed over the years z
On my 2011 jeep grand cherokee lardeo. 3.6. As I am removing the valve cover, it hits the transmission dipstick. Preventing me from removing the cover. I'm stumped. What tips do you recommend?
I changed just one seal as it was leaking into the spark tube, 37 $ for one from the dealer. In Canada 🇨🇦
I have a plug in cylinder 6 i cant get out my guess is stripped i also see oil around the plug. 2015 dodge charger se.
To be honest im surprised those tubes arent already molded in with the valve cover when its produced with a oring seal at the sparkplug hole land.
Thank you David!
You’re welcome!
Another great video
Many thanks
Great tip !
Thanks for the watching latest video
