Arrowhead hunting TN - Stunning big sandy hiding in plain sight and a stinger of a pine tree!

  • After a slow start to the year I finally found enough artifacts to piece together a decent video. I'm not sure of what the second artifact in the video is? Possible effigy of some type? The button found in the video is of an unknown date and looks to be military style. The pine tree laying in the rocks amazes me that the tip and serrations were somehow still intact. The big adena buried in the mud was quite the shocker! As I went to flip it out I was for some reason not expecting much more than a blade of some sort. To my surprise it was a solid 3" adena. The big sandy (possible cache river?) at the end was another surprise find! It was perfectly placed under that clump of dirt and luckily I caught a glimpse of the tip of that beautiful blue material sticking out. It could have easily been walked past. Im always glad to add another beautifully made big sandy to the collection! Thanks for watching the video! Please subscribe to keep up with my upcoming videos.

      Thanks again! But I know.. I often think about what lies just beneath my feet, waiting to be uncovered by the next wave, or rain event. It’s what keeps me coming back time after time! It’s an awesome feeling handling a piece that hasn’t been handled in 1000’s of years. It’s humbling for sure. Thanks for coming back to check out the new finds!

    Let me begin by saying I really enjoy your videos and the incredible finds therein. Would you consider carrying them one additional step and identifying some of the types of the points ? I’m sure I’m not the only one that would like that additional information. I’ve collected points since I was 19 (now77) but have only very rudimentary knowledge of the different shapes. Some of the shapes are so similar to others that they’re difficult to identify. My personal collection, over the years, became more about quantity rather than identity. In fact I was older before I realized that there were so many different distinct types and that some of them are universal and most types are named. The internet really opened my eyes when I started viewing all these videos of collectors on TH-cam and elsewhere. Thanks for your consideration .

    • @Points365
      @Points365  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really wish I had the knowledge to be able to identify my artifacts… especially right there on the spot. I’ve learned over the years a little as far as identification. Like you, I’ve focused mainly on hunting and collecting. It gets a little overwhelming when I start trying to decipher flaking patterns and whatnot trying to put a name on an artifact. To be honest I’m just not that good at it. It’s always impressed me the guys that can identify 100’s of different types. So in lieu of my lack of information given in my videos, I try and give a clear, up close look at each and every side of the artifacts. That way people can see what they need in order to make their own call as far as identification. I really do appreciate your input and your dedication to the hobby. I bet you’ve got quite the collection after all those years! What state did you reside in with all those of hunting under your belt?

      @@Points365 I’m in SC and have walked a million miles, mostly in plowed fields, to achieve the modest collection I have. Mostly in Sumter county which is mid state SC. There was a rather small community of collectors and plowed field walking was the norm for just about all. It wasn’t until the advent of the internet with TH-cam and such that I realized what I was missing by not digging or creek and river walking. By that time I had moved to the coast and lost all my contacts and sort of got out of the habit. Other activities supplanted hunting, artifacts and game. I lived at Folly Beach, SC for a number of years and ocean activities took me away from hunting almost completely…you know, surfing, fishing, girl chasing…the usual things you move next to the ocean for. I never had the kinds of sweet spots that you are privileged with. I’ve begun breaking up my collection giving frames of points to nephews and friends. Trying to encourage my nephews(grand) toward building their own collections. They have an interest but can’t travel on their own, yet. There’s hope for them still…they’re young.

      Haha thanks man! I hear ya though… I actually did ponder leaving it encased in that clump. But I just had to see the other side of it! In hindsight I should’ve saved that clump though. I could’ve displayed it next to that point.. or a custom molded place to lay the artifact! Haha

    you make me want to move to Tennessee woods 🤤What's the name of the song? Like to learn the whole piece on the fiddle 🤓

    • @Points365
      @Points365  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha this state is for sure a hot bed for artifacts if you know where to look! But no, none of them were translucent or see through. An obsidian piece would be a rare find for these parts! The song played in this vid is called “Terrier Waltz”. If I had the skill to play the fiddle, I would be all over learning to play it! I’d probably sit around playing it on my porch for my own entertainment! Haha thanks for the comment and for taking the time to check it out!

    Very nice finds. BTW, what was the blue circle on one of the arrowheads? It looks like a crystal or other type gem imbedded in the flint. Very cool. Nice G10 big sandy. Love the adena, too.

      @@Points365 I was surprised that you didn't turn that blue dot outward for your finish still shot. I also wondered about what seemed like a rock that cradled that other point. Was thinking if it was solid, and not just sand or mud, it would have been interesting to hold onto as well. Would have made a great conversation piece because who else has ever seen that?
