Of course if got me some coinage and various tools mixed in for variety. Hope you enjoy and thanks for watching! Please like, comment, and subscribe to keep up with all of my upcoming finds. I know I say it every time, but it still blows my mind that hundreds or even thousands of people in the same tribe could make the same exact point for hundreds of years without changing it up. like it was against the law to deviate from the design by even a little bit. If you held my Dovetail and your Dovetail in your hand, the only way to tell them apart is the material. Like the same guy, or even a machine made them both. Mind boggling. Killer finds, bro

    • @Points365
      @Points365  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You know they were just stamping them out in the factory! Just placed their order of how many, and what material, and they arrived at their wigwam door in 2-3 hunting days. 🤣 But it is odd though man. Maybe there was some sort of religious or superstitious aspect that kept them being made so similarly?

    • @moemuggy4971
      @moemuggy4971 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Points365 I often wonder if these weren't all made by the same guy? Maybe one dude just sat around all day making Dovetails to sell to all the other Indians... dunno? but you have to admit it seems really odd there are so many exactly the same. If I taught you how to make a Dovetail, and you taught your son, do you think his great, great grandson would make the same exact Dovetail? not likely.

    • @T.J-and-Soul
      @T.J-and-Soul ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think you are correct, against the law to change the design. They also used certain colours on darts or arrow shafts. The shape of a point is a signature of who we are. A different style point being found would show that another tribe is hunting our land. Probably not unlike fashion. Things change over years, but most youth adopt the new fashion as they mature or as elders pass. As technology got better new points and weapons developed. Probably comes under the title "Culture"

      @benallen7793 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hate to jump in on this conversation but the style of dovetail 365 finds is much different than the ones I’ve found and both styles are coming from middle Tennessee. There are tons of variations throughout time especially when a point type spans many hundreds if not a thousand years. There’s classic doves, button doves, clipped wing doves, split base doves and that’s just to name a few. Also there’s plenty of crossover’s like the hardove/southern hardin. Yes when you hunt the same sites over and over you’ll obviously find one “style” more than the other but don’t think there’s anything to it other than the maker/time/and location. They spanned so much time because their extremely utilitarian and of course there’s plenty of variations/evolution going on. Just my two cents and not trying to be a know it all or contradict anyone. All great observations and honestly it is mind blowing to see. Great video 365 as always! I’d wish you luck but God blesses you more than he should haha. Take care boys and again thanks for sharing these amazing pieces of history with us brother.

      @@T.J-and-Soul You realize these Dovetail points span 300 to 500 years, right? Across 11 states or more. That's roughly 1/3 the size of Australia. Made of hundreds of different types of flint with every *color of the rainbow. Some or most are so similar, they have the same number of flakes. Just to give you some scope and perspective.

    You have some great places to hunt and man you kill it! I live in western NY you would think this place would be loaded. There are two reservations still here and a couple that have long since disappeared. I have not found a single artifact in the couple years I have been looking.

      Thanks man! We definitely have it good down here as far as artifacts go. You’re right though, I would think it would be loaded up there as well. All the history books and autobiographies I’ve read about the exploration of that area during the time of first European contact, it seems like they couldn’t traverse that area without having native contact at every turn. There’s artifacts of all kinds there, you just have to be at the right place at the right time! Anywhere there is dirt being moved is a great place to start… be it at a construction site, plowed field, or the natural erosion that happens in lakes, streams, and rivers. They are bound to reveal themselves to you! But it does require miles and miles…. And miles of walking! Haha good luck man and thanks for checking out the finds!

    Stellar finds. What that an axe? Im new to the hobby so lots of questions. What time period would it be? Incredible photography and videography. 🙂

      Sorry for the belated response, been busy hunting on my vacation! Haha But yes, I would guess an axe. A hoe would be a close second guess though. Usually hoes would have a sort of polish on the business end from being repeatedly used in the dirt, which is why I’m guessing axe. But you really never stop learning with artifacts! In fact you realize due to the lack of recorded history we have on them, a lot of what people know, is really just guesses. That’s why you get so many different answers to one question. As far as time period, those type of artifacts like axes and whatnot changed very little over the different periods as opposed to projectiles and whatnot. So putting a time on those are harder to do. All you have to go on is what you find near or around where you find it. In this case I would have to guess middle archaic period based on artifacts found near it. So roughly 6,000 years old. Incredible to think about isn’t it?! Thanks for taking the time to check out the finds!
