Read his book Friends, Lover and the Big Thing. I was skeptical, not a huge Friends or Perry fan, and I'm also a recovering drug&alcohol addict myself, so celebs telling their sob stories didn't appeal, but it was recommended by my trusted sister. It's great. Humour, humility, honesty and some really great narrative about his life.

@@Sokrabiades Oh, I'm guessing I kinda assumed that alcoholism is mostly a problem for men which is kinda sexist I guess, I did it unconsciously.
Drinking stories are funny when they aren't common, You're basically getting to know a person in a way you've never known him before, so It's pretty funny to see them or hear them acting foolish.
But when they become too common it isn't funny anymore, It's worrying, everything in moderation.

@@artyomalekseyevich5927 well, actually alcoholism is more common in men. Go to any AA meeting and you will realize. I have drink problems, although I'm a woman.
      It's not sexist, it's a fact

I worked in a maintenance dept of a large factory for 38 years so i grewup with a lot my coworkers and . These guys where great people but the ones that drank and the ones that did hard drugs were all dead by age of 6o. These guys started dieing off in there 30's. My first girlfriend out of highschool OD on meth in her upper 20's, and her brother died a few years after she did from drugs n alcohol. I'm retired now and I'm so thankful I made it but it's kinda lonely ,so many people just let alcohol n drugs rule thier lives.

Talking about his alcoholism was his purpose. His foundation helps those that struggle with alcoholism. Its heartbreaking he didn't live to stay in sobriety and help others. To live his life and fulfill his future hopes and dreams ❤️‍🩹 He was quick witted a naturally funny man who wrote a wonderful play and was a son, brother, friend. He had a life to live it's a staggering loss to many people who loved him❤️‍🩹🦇

Pretty sure being a celebrity/former celebrity with decent looks he has a much better chance of finding somebody than some random person his age. Also, it's always strange when people wish celebrities well - yes, they're also human, but they have access to so many resources/know so many people that ordinary people never will (for better or worse), that I'd have more sympathy for some average person going through that than a celebrity (with the exception being celebrities with serious conditions like MJF and Bruce Willis etc.)

The thing about him I didn’t know him as Chandler on FRIENDS… I don’t think I watched one episode of that show. I loved his character in the movie Fools Rush In with Salma Hayek. There’s just something so…you just have a feeling of wanting to take care of him, something so vulnerable about him and this was really before I knew he had any addictions, so I’m really sad that Matthew Perry is gone. I really am.
