Someone once explained that they actually had to cut the sound and record over because she Screamed "OMG David!!!" since she really thought he had fallen down the stairs.
I read somewhere that they actually had to tear down the Central Perk set so they can build the airport set. So, Chandler asking “where?” had double meaning. (1) Reel: irony because the friends only ever go to Central Perk. (2) Real: there’s no Central Perk set

Matthew and Matt had some of the best improved scenes. I'm especially glad they kept the "blue blazer black" screw up in the show, since people do mess up sometimes when talking irl.
I honestly never knew that, Chandler messing up his 'Blue Blazer Black' line and instead of doing a re-take the cast just kept improvising on the fly and pulled it off brilliantly. :-) It shows just how much chemistry they had on set, where even a slight flub didn't de-rail the scene, they just went along with it like it was just part of the script. Wicked stuff. :-)
I think so too to an extent. I definitely think the filing cabinet could absolutely be unscripted. Maybe even the part with Ross going down the stairs, but the rest... 🤷♀️ Though I definitely think that Chandler messing up his line about Trump could be totally plausible.
I love when chandler said "blue blazer bLack" everyone decided to go with it. The scene seems like everyone is playing like an improvizing game, that was rly nice to watch cause it was clearly a mistake. Which makes the whole scene more "realistic" in a way, and funnier too. And the fact that they're improvizing their lines gets funnier considering this line 6:23
And retrospectively, it was in response to a joke about Donald Trump. Which got completely ignored, because of the flub and the improv, which are way funnier than Trump will ever be.
This is a show that I would have loved to see go on for another several decades. Hands down the best sitcom ever, it was like sitting down with your own friends every week to catch up.😍
Would love if shows like this even just did a small 5 episode season every 5 years or so just to catch up with the lives of the characters. Plenty of time for writers to find the best stories, and keep it really flexible to get all the cast together

That last scene brings up memories of all the friends who I don't, or rarely, see anymore. Strong emotions, love and sadness, that become mixed with my feelings about the show. It's no wonder Friends was so important to so many people. It's about one of the defining issues of the human condition... who we choose to share our lives with... and so well done. So very well done.
Also there was the unscripted part in the episode where Chandler fooled around with Joey's sister after the party, he apologizes for being so drunk that he "definitely stuck his tongue down her throat" but it turned out to be Monica and so when he was explaining and apologizing she goes "It's ok." then so does Rachel...and to everyone's surprise so does Ross, and you can see Monica almost break character holding back laughter.
I still get that nostalgic feeling when the camera pans around the empty apartment, at the end. I don't know if any other sitcom ever made me feel that way. Maybe Golden Girls is a close second and I do still remember being angry from the Seinfeld finale, but that is a whole different thing. Friends was just iconic and it was like the tv sitcom stars all aligned, with the writing, the cast and the era it was in.
@@mehar1209 I never could get into "How I met your Mother. Also, "angry" might have been too strong a word for Seinfeld. Annoyed would probably be a better word. I always loved this show... In a weird personal story, back in 2005, I remember being under terrible pressure as I had just gone in the army, going through basic training and sleeping in bunks with 64 other guys in the room. What got me through was a weird spontaneous reaction I had. Every night, when I closed my eyes, my brain would spontaneously imagine I was in Central Perk, shooting the breeze with these people, saying nothing in particular. After a couple of minutes of this pre dream state, I would just drift off to a deep dreamless sleep. This happened almost every night for a whole month, until basic training was over and I was off to a normal unit. It never happened again after that and I really don't know how it happened at all. Probably some weird defence mechanism. I know it sounds kind of ridiculous, but it was very important for me at the time, almost mind saving, and I will probably never consider these people just as some actors. It's just too bad I don't know any of them and will never be able to thank them for that helping hand. But still..... Thank you!
I’ve had a similar calming method to find sleep. Nothing as upending as basic training, but I went to what I called my “happy place”. Imagined myself and significant other on a balcony somewhere tropical. Music playing, and I would go through the breeze, the way the night sounds, imagining people eating and laughing below, and every detail of the “fancy night out” outfit I’d wear complete with jewelry. 😅 Somehow this calm concentration would help me to relax enough and fall asleep.
Just finished the show for the first time, didn t have a TV in the 90s...what an amazing creation...I am sure it helped many people in dark times...just now I am in tears as I never wanted it to end...
The scene where Billy Crystal and Robin Williams were on and totally improv-ed their bit, making everyone else forget their lines is at the top of this list, shocked you didn't even include it!
They were there on purpose and they were there precisely on the premise that they would adlib their lines. It was an improvised scene and the cast knew about it, only maybe the leading conversation existed in the script as a crutch.
@@khymaaren I think they were making a movie at a nearby set and they just poped over on the Friends set for a visit. When they left Pheobe asks Monica "what were you saying?" and Monica says "I don't remember."

Life is just too busy and hectic afterward to actually hang out with friends without having any responsibilities or worries.

@mixedwildchild nah David schwimmer wrote that episode so it was suppose to end w Ross chasing Ben. Jen didn’t know he would fake it
I think so too to an extent.

Thank you!
You should try lucid dreaming. Could help you get back there. It's probably also what was happening to you then, but without you controlling it
I’ve had a similar calming method to find sleep.
I love this! Your mind found something healthy that helped you👏👏👏
