    Well done..thanks! Lived for a time in Rota, Spain and later Comillas, Spain (Cantabria)..spent many weekends and weeks Costa del Luz and into Algarve...Yes, perhaps one of the best places in Europe for outdoor fun to include surfing. One of the differences between south of Cadiz..Costa del Luz (el Palmar Beach) is the water on the west coast of Portugal.Sagres, etc is "cold"..hence why one sees wet suits even in summer. Have not been back since 2019 (Crete three months); 2018 (walked the Camino)..other years after 2010...lots of Croatia and Slovenia. I do miss it and hope to get back..but now with Aussie Shepherd..hard to get away. To all travellers..stay on the roads..RH/Florida-USA

    Another great video. Brought back great memories of a coastal drive I took in the Carrapateira area 3 years ago. Felt like I had the entire place to myself. One majestic view after another. It was well captured in your video. Well done.

    Thank you. I was wondering about the west coast of the Algarve, and why it seems to be so sparsely populated. Looks like the wind is pretty strong there. Still, another place to explore. For sure am interested in why living there is different.

    • @AlgarveAddicts
      @AlgarveAddicts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely, I think the weather is a component, but also because it's so far from the rest of the Algarve with no MAJOR transport connections. The highway stops near Lagos as does the train.

      @@AlgarveAddicts No, couldn’t take enough leave from work so we only walked from Aljezur down to Sagres. I wonder what Aljezur and surrounding area would have to offer as a place to live?

      @@AlgarveAddicts good luck brother!! I’ve been wondering for a long time if Aljezur is a great place to live or is it too remote? One cool tip that you can tell us is that if Amazon can deliver there? I think this is a great reference on how remote is the place. Thanks again

    • @AlgarveAddicts
      @AlgarveAddicts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sure if you have an address you'll get deliveries. If not you can get a post box and they can deliver to the local post office for you (Caixa Postal).

    Nice job Nick, Holly and Tom. Does everyone wear wet suits because the water is cold? Or that's a surf thing?
    How's the scuba diving in the Algarve?

    • @AlgarveAddicts
      @AlgarveAddicts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Larry, the suits are because the water is cold. You can swim without one, bit if you're sitting in the water for two hours or so, you need a suit. Scuba diving is ok, there area couple of wrecks around and lots of reefs. People also snorkel for octopus and things.

    3:26 Province (província) is a term that isn't currently used as a subdivision of Portugal. The Algarve region has only one district: Faro. The Alentejo region has several districts: Beja, Évora, Portalegre. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_regions_and_sub-regions_of_Portugal en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Administrative_divisions_of_Portugal

    • @miguelcoelho3877
      @miguelcoelho3877 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm old enough to remember when the country was subdivided into provinces, which were then in turn subdivided into districts, municipalities, parishes, and "freguesias".
      Quaint times...

    • @AlgarveAddicts
      @AlgarveAddicts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing guys. We used to call them provinces in South Africa, however in Portugal it's tough to keep up as there appear to have been so many changes to the geographical denominations in the last 50 years.

    • @AlgarveAddicts

      Not at all, it's cooler and the ocean is wilder. It's less touristy though. One day I'll get up there to make a video comparison.

    Hi I saw you said it would be o.k if viewers asked questions on living in Portugal, I plan on moving there in Dec 2022 is there any areas in Portugal considered undesirable & are older homes a bad investment or should i go with a new apt ?

    • @AlgarveAddicts
      @AlgarveAddicts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mi, it depends on if you want or have the ability to fix something up. Generally if you fix an old property up yourself you can create a better investment but you'll need to have local knowledge and building skills.
