    Love your videos, especially the ones about purchasing homes. The only issue is one of sound volume. It fluctuates from barely audible to way too loud. The video and narrative are very much appreciated however.

    A couple of things not mentioned. Next to Portimao city, but in the district, is the town of Alvor. 10 minutes by car. A good place to stay and also has one of the two private hospitals in the Algarve. The district also contains the autodromo which hosts the F1 and moto GP races. Portimao city hosts international power boat races. Aqua has a food hall but its standard mall food. The retail shopping area is not really an outlet place, but does have the british overseas supermarket (basically waitrose and iceland) if you need it :-)

      @@AlgarveAddicts Also in Portimão you have the "Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve - Hospital de Portimão". It's the main Hospital in Portimão. Not private. So if you end breaking a bone, you got to this hospital, not São Camilo. São Camilo used to be the main hospital, not anymore.

      Most shopping centres look hideous, to be fair. They look awesome in the architectural conceptual drawings but then...

      @@AlgarveAddicts True. I have seen in the US that some cities have adapted to the historic European design with newer shopping. They build shopping areas " malls" with big chain and small retail, but not in one building. They are outside and connected with cobblestone streets, sidewalks and restaurants. They added supermarkets, fountains and condos/rentals. Very popular. Seems US is copying European cities and Europe is copying US malls. I was surprised to find big malls around Lisbon. It's convenient but I personally don't care for the experience and the trend...

    I’ve been looking at Portimao to settle in. I wasn’t planning on getting a car very soon. After watching this video, which is good BTW, I get the feeling a car is a necessity in Portimao. Is this correct?

    • @AlgarveAddicts
      @AlgarveAddicts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sharon, having a car is totally up to you. Portimao is fairly well connected by bus and train to the rest of the Algarve (and therefore Portugal) plus there are taxis and Ubers about, so if you're used to public transport it is possible. Personally, I love the freedom and efficiency a car gives you.

    Thanks for the video. Reminded me of a wonderful time spent there in 2018. I might end up spending winters in Portimao when I retire. Great info!!
    Can you go into more detail on Ferragudo? It’s close enough to have access to the larger city of Portimao but it looks so intimate and cute rather than all the big high-rises.

      How do you get out of it? Do you have to go over the bridge to Portimao? Is it an issue getting out from Ferragudo out to the road or to the regular beaches. I guess that’s what I was asking. I was wondering what the negatives were about being in that area because it’s so cute
