    • @scottenlow5249
      @scottenlow5249 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try removing the cheek pads to find one that matches the shape of your head. Arai makes multiple shapes of helmets for different shaped heads. Most Arai's have adjustable pull tabs for tensioning, peel away layers, and optional thicknes liners so you can tailor it to your crown fit. Then find the right size cheek pads for your face. Most Arai cheek pads have a 5mm peel away layer and come in 6 different sizes.

In Asian cites, riding is the most affordable and quickest form of daily transportation be it to work or sending their children to school. And most fatal accidents are due to not having good gear on due to their incomes. I know the cost of these tests are expensive but i do hope that the costs will reduce in the near future so everyone can afford to wear safe gear.

      Not to sound a jerk. But it is a fair point.
      Look at most crashes in MotoGP - there's always at least 1 in a race, let alone quali and practice - the riders hit their heads most of the time (coming off the bike at speed) and most of the time they got up and walked away.
      You're not getting away with it as easy on the IOM - apart from Ramsey and Gooseneck maybe.
      At that said. The standard should be better for everyone.
      Not (essentially) brain injuries are ok for poor people.

      The non-2206 helmet models are most likely the same helmet as the ones tested. The difference is in the paperwork that links the make/model/size to new testing criteria.
      I feel good with my SHOEI. They were great helmets back in the 1980’s when I first started racing, and still great 30 yrs later. Those who need the certification will have the extra confidence.
      Counterfeit helmets of top brands may be an issue to the insurance companies backing these events also. So change and electronic ID tags welcome advancement.

      There’s a good chance your not wearing the right size Arai, also Arai has thicker/ thinner cheek pads, headliners and neck rolls/ collar you can switch out so you can get a perfect fit, also I’m assuming the “old shape” your talking about is referring to the round smooth shell of the helmet, there’s a reason they do that, it’s for glance off also known as R75 by Arai, having a round smooth shell helps the helmet distribute Energy and also stops the helmet from rotating or catching on objects during a crash, and the vents are designed to come off during a crash, in a lot of cases you can see when a rider crashes in a helmet that has Sharp edges or built-in vents that don’t come off the helmet will actually catch on the ground and put a lot of energy into the riders neck bc of the sharp edges and or built-in vents, also forgot to mention Arai’s multiple density eps headliner that helps distribute even more of that energy during a crash. I think theres a lot about Arai people don’t see, and if you do some basic research you’ll understand why Arai makes the safest helmets

    An FIM rated helmet might not be the safest helmet for your use though? Aren’t there helmets designed for the lower speeds of street riding? The foam for high speed impacts will be different for a low/er speed impact. So relevant for racing but not necessarily for the street.plus motogp helmets don’t work on upright style bikes.

    It's sad to see that safety is compromised for someone who can't afford the top of the line helmet.
