@@illumina1615 SHARP is a relative rating, not an absolute one like the others. If a helmet in the US is SHARP rated but doesn't have an ECE or FIM sticker on it, it's very possible that it's built differently than the the European model that SHARP tested, even if it looks the same.
ECE or FIM, although my Arai street helmet is only Snell. Which makes me sad. I wish more companies would do what Klim is doing where you can choose between the ECE or the Snell standard, so the buyer has the choice.
Arai labels as Snell, but their helmets also meet ECE in order to be sold in Europe (and some other markets). Plus the Corsair X, the helmet I own, has also been tested for FIM homologation to be used in international racing.
I was going to do a video like this, then found this. You did an excellent job and I don't know why you don't have more views. Great job and thank you for the education. Well presented.
We all knew DOT was b/s, but wow, it's worse than I thought! I don't wear Snell helmets anymore. Snell is better, but going forward I'm only buying the latest ECE standard currently (2024) ECE 22.06 Thank you for linking the FIM helmet set link.
Another thing to consider is if a model of helmet is sold in the US and does not have an ECE or FIM label, it may be a different construction than the same model sold in Europe. Sometimes it's built different to get the SNELL sticker on there which can conflict with ECE testing, sometimes it's just a cheaper helmet that has the standard DOT "non-certification". Bunch of marketing games. Sometimes a helmet is perfectly good but the manufacturer didn't want to pay the testing fees outside of DOT. If in doubt, buy from one of the big brands; They can't afford the liability of producing a subpar helmet even if it's only DOT rated, and they have more advanced in-house testing and engineering. Best bet in general is ECE & FIM with a good SHARP rating to boot.
Very well researched video and amazing video I was shocked when i saw you had only 358 subscribers and 1525 views hope more people discover your channel Keep up the good work!
Here’s a question I have been wondering with the new ECE 22.06 and FIM standard is there any significant benefit of having a MIPS or similar system in a helmet with these ratings because it seems really hard to find one with a slip plane and the new ratings
my helmet says FIM, is that good? i think its made by pine stars or something like that. my uncle gifted it to me after i did him a few favors im not proud of
@@RideTucked new aAstars is amazing, just got mine and breaking the cushions in by loafing around in my room with it. Patiently waiting to ride again 😂
I appreciate that! I’ve been posting on TikTok for a few years but trying to transition into longer form content and putting out more detailed and informative videos. The research and editing that goes into some of the topic I’m working on is so time consuming compared to short form content.
@@RideTucked love to see it, I hope you keep it up. Your channel is super informative and highkey compares to revzilla with how informative and easily digestible your content is!
Very thorough and detailed video Jay, well done! 🤙✌
Thanks! I truly appreciate it!
22,06..
Snell and Dot means nothing, look out for FIM, ECE and Sharp ratings.
Would sharp 4 star be better than ece .06?

If only anyone cared about people with larger craniums. Try finding a 5x helmet with anything but DOT ratings.

Excellent video
By far the best video that I've seen on motorcycle helmets. Keep it up!
