Your description & assessment of sound qualities are one of your strengths, generally. Very helpful, in my opinion, for those are trying to compare & contrast, from whatever distances they have to sort through the process of vetting products. Discussions about the relationships products have with eachother within a system, and then to the slant of your own preferences as a listener - potentially a customer, is a service to serve and benefit to viewers.

Great review. Convinced me to exchange my elacs debut 6.2 with these. What a difference in sound stage and bass. My jazz recording of Bill Evans sounded so dull on the Elacs and now became alive! I was a bit scared for the whathifi comment they can't be placed near wall, but doesn't seem to matter. Though maybe the sound is going to be even better when places in the room. Don't have the space for that though...

These are simply amazing. I've had mine paired with a bunch of high-medium grade amps (both tube and solid state and combos) , but I was really surprised when I paired it with the new little Rega Brio amp. The textures on vocals and other types of music is just incredible. You can hear every little nuance and grate on voices and instruments. I don't like music to be "smoothed" over too much and I also don't like to top end to be too bright. The Brio does a very good job on taming the highs. This pairing is just sublime. I'm using an SMSL DAC an I also think it compliments it very well. Thanks for confirming what I've thought. I almost felt guilty for getting so much pleasure out of such an "affordable" speaker!! 😁(LOL! I wrote this before you whipped the Brio out- snap!). BTW this pairing is also incredible for just watching TV etc. because of the great clarity in vocals and tone.

Excellent review.I'm not into forward (in your face)sounding speakers. So i bought a month ago Q 3030i with Yamaha a-s 501.I was very worry maybe the sound turn out to be too bright for me.Ηappily the sound is laid back. The highs are crystal but not offencive, the mids are warm and revealingly and the bass deep and strong (in my room). In some movies bass gets very low frequencies like a subwoofer! The whole room is shaking!!So i don't have to spend more money for a subwoofer. Like i said i was worry about the synergy between them but Yamaha A-S 501 proved to be a true gem.

Great value loudspeaker, the bro3 was my first Triangle speaker, was so impressed I decided to go further up stream, bought the Genese Trio but found them opposite to the bro3, warm laid back, lacked exitment that the bro3 offered. Would totally recommend the bro3 withe right amp eg: tube amp like the Willsenton R8.

Now I have Triangle Comete Ez and like them very much with Unison Research Unico Nuovo amplifier (with better tubes). I have the Triangle Plaisir Zeta (stripped down but essentially the same as Color series) which I really like. For a small speaker, it sounds larger but well balanced across the spectrum, with good resolution and detail, dynamic enough and just the right kind of bass that anymore and any lower would start to sound boomy. Pairing it with a sub would be sufficient. Too bad they were overlooked and now discontinued.
I liked it better than the Borea 2 but the Borea series is well received by alot of people. Perhaps it is the titanium tweeter which I prefer. Not as refined as more expensive speakers as it will expose sibilance and glare in recordings but it is highly listenable as well as engaging. Plays well with class D or AB.

I bought my new Green/Oak finish BRO 3's a few months ago @ $349.00. A decisive factor for me was the good reviews and their high sensitivity and high impedance.
I'm running Roon out to a Zen Stream (mint used) w/USB out to a S.M.S.L. DO300EX DAC ($398. on sale) which then outputs to an Eastern Electric Minimax Tube Integrated @ 8 watts. (dealer demo $650.) note: I'd read that the BRO 3's treble can get a bit bright on some tracks, my suspicion was that the tube's sweet treble would prevent any harshness in the treble. Happily it does. BTW, the BRO 3's with the volume control @ 11:00 o'clock get very loud. >85db measured in a medium size room.
80Hz and below is routed to a Totem Acoustics Kin Sub (sealed 8" driver - 3db down @ 29Hz)
I'm very happy with this system. The BRO 3's compare favorably with my 3 times more expensive ELAC Carina BS 243.4 bookshelves.
Ancillary equipment; iFi LAN iSilencer, iFi AC iPower X, Upgraded ECL82-MULLARD OLD LOGO NOS tubes. upgraded cables, Herbie's Audio Labs Isolation feet. EVS Music Purifiers & Ground Enhancers (BIG Improvement)
Planned upgrades; ACME Fuses, H.A.L.'s Tube Dampers, Bybee QSE Clarifiers,
SignalCable MagicPower cord for the amp and MagicPower Digital Reference Power cord for the DAC.
Here's my two cents based on being into this hobby/obsession since 1971... Buy at discount whenever possible, save your money so you're positioned to take advantage of sales/used opportunities. Buy equipment that fits your preferences. Think synergy, synergy, synergy... Regardless of how good the equipment is, it can be improved with accessories. Manufacturers build to a price point, they have to cut corners somewhere, that's where accessories that address those weaknesses come into play. Rather than playing on the equipment "merry go round", buy solid equipment, then upgrade to compensate for any minor weaknesses. Here's the thing about accessories and 'tweaks'... they're cumulative and often you don't recognize what they do... until you've had them in the system for a while and then take them out of the system. When you do it can come as a shock. Well FWIW, that's my experience, and as always YMMV.

I run these in nearfield with a denon PMA 600ne on my desk, they sound amazing. PC as a source allows some easy equalizing as well. Previously in the living room with a class D Hypex NCore module, sounded even better. Agree that they are 'sensitive' to neutral DACs. I tried them with a a number of DACS, from topping E30 to a topping D70s. The latter was somewhat too detailed for these slightly treble heavy speakers.

I agree with your assessment. Shawn at ZF pointed me towards the Bro3, so today I spent 3hr in listening room at my local retailer. The sample room was much closer to a regular room in a home w/ minimal acoustic treatments - which I find preferable, since that will minimize any surprises when you bring it home. Three meters wide and 5m long with perhaps 3m ceiling. Majority of drywall w/ 6 scatter panels on walls and 2 large bass absorbers behind the speakers. Since I already planned to hear the Bro3 along with Klipsch 600M, we started w/ Klipsch + Cambridge AXR100. Quite quickly that sound was not for me so we switched to Bro3, and what a difference - this was music, while Klipsch was noise and tiring at that. The whole 3h session consisted w/ playing same songs from several albums of Supertramp, The Doors, early Led Zeppelin (that is not great sound wise), old Genesis, old Yes and few others. But especially we played the initial 30s of Grover Washington song "Winelight". We ditched the Klipsch altogether and hooked up the Bro3's to the higher grade Cambridge amp the CX81, which is quite highly regarded in terms of the large "stage" it is touted to create. Well, it did all that and was easily, recognizably better sounding - Bro3 combined w/ CA CX81 - a real winner to my ears at that point. Since I wanted to sample the Emotiva gear we hooked up the Emotiva PT1 amp. In direct comparison w/ CX81, it was no match for the "stage" and precision, bassiness and delicacy of sound. Since this retailer, did not have the Emotive B1+ speakers on hand, while advising me that the B1+ is not a great sounding speaker, I asked still if we could try the floor standing model T1+ just one step up larger form than the B1+. We ran that w/ both Emotive Pt1 as well as CA CX81 amps. Indeed the sound impression on my ears was disappointing. It was especially surprising that the Emotiva speakers did not sound better w/ Emotiva amp, as opposed to CX81, while w/ CX81 they lost the "stage" they had with Bro3. While Bro3 offers a well organized sound experience , that Emotiva column more akin to the noise that Klipsch 600M presented w/ even worse mess of a sound. Towards the end we mated the KEF Q350 speakers w/ CA CX81 and did several back-to-back switchovers with Bro3's. To my ears KEF's were NO MATCH to Bro3. Unfortunately, that retailer does not carry the ELAC brand so I will have to visit other stores to finalize my search/research.

I've owned my BR03's for three years paired to a Cambridge AXR-100 as you auditioned. I have no complaints at all. This combo has handled all my sound sources (TV with streaming device, turntable, and CD player) without any issues. To my ears everything has sounded great without any harshness and fatigue. I'm sometimes still surprised at the detail and background low-end that I get from this setup. It's like I know I shouldn't be surprised since it has proven itself many times, but I guess it's more of a "I never noticed that before" moment. I highly recommend this combination.
PS: If paring them with the CXA81 makes them sound even better, and you have the budget, then it's worth it.

@@asheshchand3616 yes and no. I have a def tech cube 2 which supliments the low end very well but if you are getting a sub i highly recommend a sub with speaker level inputs and known to have quick decay as well.
This is mainly due to how fast the br03 woofer decays and the sub needs to keep up otherwise the pairing will sound off.
Besides def tech, speedwoofer makes pretty good subs that pair well. Not sure about triangles own subs as i havent tried them.

They dip down under 4 ohm in the bass and if you want to play laud and still have a tight bass you need a amplifier with good damping factor! I tried a Rega Brio-r amp but that amp didn't have enough damping factor. BR03 has a bump in the upper bass and a warm sounding amp like Rega Brio can make the bass a bit to much (as if they add a 15 kg to the singer)
Other then that they are AMAZING, if you place them on the right stand and into the room. If you have a big room I think you better go for the BR08 floor standing.
With the right set and setting the Triangle Borea BR03 are a gate way drug to audiophilism.

@@DougMen1 It's quite a lot cheaper in the UK (£700 or around $810). But never heard it myself, so don't know how it sounds. For the British magazine, What Hi Fi, Rega can do little wrong and gets lauded to the skies for a lot of their gear. I'm a bit suspicious that there's too cosy a relationship between the mag and Rega. It will be very interesting to hear what Srboljub has to say about it.
For my money, the slightly cheaper Audiolab 6000A (£649) is a far better deal, having an internal DAC and remote control plus separable pre- and power amp sections. I use one in my secondary, near-field system, where to my ears it sounds glorious.

    Thanks for the review.
Imo its a good thing that the BR03 are so picky. That means I can pair my headphone DAC with it and still get majority of the details I can get with my headphones. Quite honestly the LS50meta doesnt really compare which is kind of sad. The next upgrade for me would be the B&W 705 but its questionable weather I will ever go get it when the BR03 satisfies my light music and movie needs. For everything else headphones do it better.
The only issue I have with the BR03 is that its simply not capable of sounding shrill when needed. I understand this is a plus point in the musicality department but damn it I want my steel accoustic guitar to sound realistic.

A terrific review, Srboljub. Your prowess at description is unrivalled, imho. I'm wondering how they might pair with your original Acoustic Invader preamp with a decent class D power amp like the XTZ Edge A2-300? If the highs would be tamed by that combo, they'd be very tempting.
BTW, if you ask a friend for a £50 loan and he lets you have it, then he's _lent_ the money to you. OTOH, you've _borrowed_ it from him. Even some native English speakers may get the two mixed up, so no big deal, just FYI.

    • @iiWiReviews
      @iiWiReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

First of all, thanks for clearing the loan-borrow directionality. I always wanted to check the difference but never got to it.
As for the AI preamp +class D (what I'm using too), that should be a pretty neutral sounding combination. Triangle is bright so those neutral components + Triangle would exhibit some brightness. That could be balanced out with a juicy sounding source (EarMen Tradutto, SMSL M400 or 500 MKII, etc). So I think it could work but some care would be needed. In that system I would also avoid silver plated cables and rhodium plated connectors, I would stick to copper and gelded stuff.

@@iiWiReviews Well, besides the AI preamp and XTZ amp, I also have an Earmen Tradutto and listen exclusively to digital tracks. My speaker wires are also copper, so they should be okay...
That said, after listening to your review, I watched a few others and there were differing opinions. You and Zero Fidelity love them. Z reviews and the Cheap Audio Man hate them. Could be a question of system matching or room acoustics, who knows.

    • @iiWiReviews
      @iiWiReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +3

I respect Zero Fidelity very much. I haven't watched his Triangle review (didn't want to be influenced) but I will. I can always tell that he spends proper time with every piece of gear. By the way, I can say the same about British Audiophile.
On the other hand, Z reviews and Cheap Audio Man publish reviews much more often. It stands to reason that they work in tighter time windows and can't be as thorough. My guess would be that they had an unlucky pairing and not enough time to try different ones. Just thinking out loud here... But yeah, in the end, we all have our own taste and preferences.

Always nice reviews! I just got 2 white Triangle Bro 3, i bought them second hand(the seller bought the KEF's LX 50 active, so that's why).
Before the Triangles i used Dali Oberon 5, which i also like.
But i live in a small apartment in Amsterdam(30m2) and sometimes the bass on the Oberon's were a little to much(depends on the track of course), tiring sometimes.
Don't have concrete in the apartment, only drywall and wood.
I will keep the Dali's, bought them new 2 years ago. But.. the sound out of the Bro 3's for me at least, is very pleasant.
The Dali's are 39hz(low) bassport at the rear; the Triangle's 46hz, bassports at the front.
The sound out of the Triangles remembers me of Celestion speakers in the '80's. Or am i totaly wrong??
I'm not saying that the Dai's are bad; not at all, but i can listen to de Triangles complete playlists on Spotify ore Tidal, no problem.
With the Dali's some tracks are tiring; to much low frequencies. Maybe my room is to small for the Dali's(they are not big by the way, but are floorstanders(more cabinet-volume), the Triangle's are bookshelf speaker,( less cabinet volume).
Amplifier; a totaly restored Sansui AU-317 (50 watt or something), connected with a BueSound Node 2i, connected with ethernet cable to the modem.
Everything(bass/treble) on zero, also the tone control on the Buesound.
Very happy with the Borea 3!!..... And with the Oberon 5's..
    Sorry for the long story...
And..looking fot the "perfect" sound is an endless story of course..
    Yeahh..it's a hobby.

I tried with my Cambridge Audio CXA81 and was ready to return the speaker then tried with WiiM Amp and they are transformed!

Is SMSL A300 a good match with it?

It's a decent match. A300 is mostly neutral so the combinations would sound a bit bright, but that amp has EQ if you find it too bright.

Maybe an amp with a Texas Instruments chip instead of Infineon would be better.
