      @@sonicplayroompiano4302ll…it’s controversial (Amir at Audio Science Review dismisses it…others tout it) and I²S has a lot of variables. Basically, you have more wires….3 I believe is what is used. Therefore you can keep the clock data separate on it own line, the music data on its own line and same for the instruction data. HDMI cables have more wires then 3…so they are not fully utilized. The Same thing is done, to a much lesser degree using Ethernet cable on some sources as it has multiple wires. Other connections like SPIDF, etc have to mix the data together and it has to be separated by the DAC. In theory keeping the data separate is obviously better…but apparently it’s not always audible.
      The HDMI cables HAVE to be short too…or the signal decays. I spent $100 on an 18" HDMI cable from Italy, so that is why I want all units to have the connection available! 😅

I replaced the spdif cable with a new bnc to rca 75 ohm cable feeding a Neutrik aes ebu adapter that goes to the aes ebu input of the dac. Even better low noise floor sound!

    Hello Srboljub, excellent review, many thanks for sharing it. Following one of your previous review I took my first step in the dedicated DAC world with the SMSL DO100, which demonstrated to be an excellent sounding device for the money. This Eversolo device seems to be a killer deal and definitely the next step in my upgrade path, and if I'm not wrong shares the same DAC configuration of the DO100. How would you compare these two devices sound wise? Thanks!

    • @iiWiReviews
      @iiWiReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I can't tell you how they compare in great detail because I don't have DO100 with me anymore. But going by the memory, this one is an upgrade since it's neck to neck with SU9 pro which I know is the best SMSL DAC I've tried up to $500. That means greater transparency in general.

    Good review. I thought it is the same as my innuos zenith mk2 as a transport when I did my review., agree it bested the node by a way but not sure of the comparison to your innuos when Steve huff had it besting out a lumin u2 mini for double the money which kind of chimed with my experience as a giant killer against the zenith. As regards the zen stream it doesn’t have anywhere near the connection issues and I think this is a bit more balanced as a transport than the somewhat fluid detail of the zen stream which was very good sound wise but not as balanced with detail.

    My dilemma: I currently have Allo DigiOne signature/Paul Hynes LPSU feeding a Loxjie D50 DAC which from what I gather has more/less similar sound signature as E70.
    The main reason I've been hanging on to my DigiOne is that I can run LMS (Logitech) software on it. Those who are familiar with LMS will probably understand.
    I would upgrade to DMP-A6 in a heartbeat if I could get better sound without losing the advantages of LMS. I suppose the Innuos might be a solution as I believe (not sure) it runs LMS or similar proprietary software but then I would probably feel the urge to buy a costly external LPSU to make sure I'm getting the most out of it. Then there's the fact that you mention that it sounds brighter than the DMP-A6 which could be an issue.

    Great review thank you! I just got a Wiim Pro and have been using it as a streamer for my Arcam AVR 850. I found it to be a fantastic streamer for $149 with great software tools. I have been curious about upgrading to an external DAC and even purchase a new NODE X with their new ESS Sabre DAC. When I did a complete comparison, though the NODE X is a great device and sounds very good and many state it is far better than the GEN 3 I ended up sending it back. I liked the combination of the WiiM Pro and the Arcam better. That being said, I am curious if the DAC in the A6 DAC would outperform the internal DAC of my Arcam AVR 850?. There are tons of cool features for certain in the A6 but for me if it has a DAC it has to sound better than what I am currently using features aside.

  • @carlosalvarez7445
    @carlosalvarez7445 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for your review, very informative. I however was left with one critical question. You described the standalone streamer with a very wide three dimensional soundstage but the DAC as narrow. In the end, how do they sound together? Does the streamer spaciousness in soundstage is shadowed by the DAC's narrowness? It would be a deal breaker for me!

    • @iiWiReviews
      @iiWiReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That big soundstage was obvious using na R2R DAC like Gustard R26 or my own tube DAC. With internal one it definitely gets limited to the avarage size of chip DACs at this price point, like Topping D90LE for example. That's not too narrow by itself or compared to budget DACs but it is compared to Denafrips Ares II, Musician Pegasus, Gustard R26, etc.
      So I guess it depends on where you coming from.

      @iiWiReviews Interesting. I bought an R-26 and put it up against my NAD M-51 dac and the R26 was close, but not better. I was considering buying the eversolo because one reviewer said that this was better than NAIM's $9,000 DAC...hmm, decisions. I'm in an area where I can't demo anything. I could by it for its streamer then judge the internal DAC and if I don't like it as well, just run the digital to my M-51 dac

    • @iiWiReviews
      @iiWiReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interesting. I can't comment on the Naim DACs sunce I haven't tested any in a familier environment.
      Also there's a lot to say about system matching. For example R26 is darker and bassier sounding product... If M51 is the opisite of that (like modern fast, open, sharp sounding DAC) and you assembled the system to sound good with it... R26 might be in a somewhat undesirable environment. I personally heard it in darker and bassier systems and it couldn't show it's qualities, some thinner sounding DACs simply matched better there.
      I hope you gave it a few days of burn in. Linear power supplies and R2R networks need longer time to properly set in. But in the end, if it doesn't work well in your system, that's much more important than what anyone else thinks.

I have the Node n130, Wiim Pro and mini which are beat by the R26 internal lan upnp streamer, but this display is so cool, and I like the features and how it operates. R2R Dac was a big improvement and adding this would still be less than a lot of higher end streamers cost by themselves. Enjoy your music 🎉

The sound was exciting, bass was on point, vocals were riveting. It was what I thought the Node would be. I'm sure the Node X is on par now but Eversolo makes me happy. The screen is amazing, adjustable, can be turned off, its so versatile. I love it and I'm sure it'll get better when broken in more.

    Srba, it would be interesting to compare the Node with a third party linear power supply to the Eversolo? There are two companies selling power supply upgrades for the Node - PD Creative and BeaTechnik LHY.
    The Node has one thing that I really am dependent on, and that is a native Radio Paradise app. I can sign into my RP account, and play a stream of my favorites of their vast and very well curated library.

      I am also interested in the best value "stand alone" *streamer*. I want to use my DAC that I have already, and almost cedrtainly would never use the internal DAC in this unit. The op-amps are OPA1642 (I think?) and these are not as good as even the OPA1612, that I know is *nowhere* near as good as the Sparkos I have in my Geshelli DAC.

    I have an original Mercury using Volumio (which interfaces poorly for this Apple user). It is connected with I²S streaming Qobuz..using my Pontus II, the sound quality is very good. I also have an SSD installed in the Mercury, which I could never use, because as a MAC-user the path to utilizing that SSD is so fraught with tech difficulties that I just stopped trying. Because of your review, I am considering the Eversolo as I could utilize my SSD in it, have better sound quality and a better user-interface! Win, Win, Win! 😀
    If Eversolo introduced a DAC-less streamer with an I²S connection at a lower cost, that would be ideal!!!

For instance Focals may need a darker richer dac, and Harbeth may need lighter leaner. Matching stuff and being good at it just take experience and time. Or a bunch of money to brute force your experience.

    None of the links in the video description to buy the product show stock. Whoever is running Eversolo has done a masterful job of marketing this product because they have convinced people to buy every one they have, or maybe they are having inventory and production problems. Are they low on capital that they can't get these made to meet demand?

Certainly not indicative of cash flow being an issue.

      Zen Streamer! So glitchy! Bought it last week and 😢. Should have bought Eversolo DAP6. Only plus thing about Zen Streamer is that you can connect to a DDC and I did. Sound quality is good. You're probably reading a lot from somewhere that investing in an LPS is going to improve your Zen Streamer sq. I suggest that if possible ask the shop to let you have it for home test. Am sure they have a display or demo LPS. Ask yourself what percentage of improvements you would expect with LPS and you're satisfied? 10%?

    • @toddt5562
      @toddt5562 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@strongchallenger2269 I've had the Zen stream for a while, well before the Eversolo was available. LHY Audio LPS does make a 5 to 10% difference in performance. I'm using it with a Denafrips Hermes DDC and Pontus 2 DAC. Overall sound quality is fantastic. I use Roon and have no problem with glitchiness with the Zen stream... But it's not something I would recommend to people unless with Roon. I've been looking for a more upscale streamer but don't want to spend $2,500 on one. So it's probably going to be the Eversolo, probably the master edition once it's easily available. Thanks for your reply and happy listening!

Also if whether or not as a standalone streamer this would still beat a Pd creative modded node 2i? When I upgraded my node 2i with pd creative and linear psu there was at least a %15 improvement in soundstage, resolution and tighter bass. When you were using the DMP-A6, did you find a way to add tracks from multiple sources (NAS, Tidal, Qobuz etc) into a single currently-playing queue, like you can on a BlueSound NODE?
    After reading all the great reviews I purchased an A6 and thought this feature would be a fundamental function of any streamer (having owned a NODE for years). Maybe I’m just missing something but it looks to me like you can only play track from each individual source at any one time.
    Thanks for all your hard work putting these great reviews together.

    • @iiWiReviews
      @iiWiReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No I didn't find a way to do it. That lack of managing a playlist is the biggest peeve I have with the device. I mentioned things like no way to add a single track into the current playlist even from the same source (let's say Qobuz for example but a song is from a different playlist). So far, they updated the list to allow us to rearrange the order of the tracks which was also not possible at the time of this review (and I believe I complained about it in the software section). So I truly hope they'll keep adding more options with future updates.
