I've been using the Harbor Freight powder coat system with Eastwood chrome powder coat. That might really expand your possibilities if you ever give it a try.
He's a pro and I'm a hobbyist so he has the experience. Eastwood recommends clear, and has a specific one they recommend. My items look okay, but they're not exposed to road grime so they still look okay without clear. @@paintskate610

Do you clear over that ? My powder coat guy says when he does chrome anc clears over it ruins the finish
