I grew up with all the old albums, but Versions is my most played album. It takes awhile to grow on you, but it's just a unique album with a sound of it's own.
Masterpiece really is the best word to describe it. The songwriting, the production and the performance are all flawless, also a defining album of my adolescence. I’ll never forget listening to this album with headphones, while rolling my face off, and just being in absolute awe that something could sound so painful, yet so beautiful. Moreira’s vocals are so raw and honest, yet every inflection perfectly calculated. The way he weaves in the singing with the harsh vocals is fucking HAUNTING, nobody does it quite like him. ❤ The album transports you into a foggy dreamspace of frustration, regret, and agony. Few vocal performances truly express genuine pain and sorrow, and feel as real as Moreira’s on You Come Before You. This is one of those albums I can come back to 20 years later, and it still hits just as hard - if not harder. It’s also played a big role in my own songwriting, especially when it comes to going for that “haunted” minor vibe. Shit is a straight gut punch to the feels, and easily in Top 3 best hardcore albums ever. Criminally underrated.
00:19 - Zombie Are Good For Your Health 02:54 - Sticks And Stones Never Made Sense 06:32 - Botchla 09:48 - Ghostchant 13:44 - Artist's Rendering of Me 16:50 - Slice Paper Wrists 21:06 - Crystal Lake 23:44 - Nerdy
They are the godfathers of metalcore. Huge back in the early 2000s, signed to a major label, etc. Shame that the younger generation doesn't know about them.
@@draculamountain They're definitely a band who helped pioneer but not sure about “godfathers” when that's more like Integrity, Earth Crisis and Converge.
@@heelgilli would definitely think they are godfathers converge, and earth crisis never really got that mix of cleans and screams that we see as the structure for modern metalcore.
Listening to this in the background whilst sitting at my desk working. I'd never heard more than a couple of songs of theirs, and I just found myself headbanging the f#ck out without really realising...whoops. must have looked hilarious. Il be going back to check them out though now.
Just In case anyone was wondering that mist was water being sprayed into the crowd! Water, love it. Imagine being the pit while ots 99 degrees out whilst some angry buds are playing.
@@jeomemo nahh OP was on the mark. Warped 03 was more than a few years before metalcore began to really draw crowds on the main stage. Even though PTW was at their peak here, on a major label about to drop You Come Before You, and definitely popular, they weren’t going to draw an audience like The Used or AFI that year.
I understand where you’re coming from and got a good chuckle, but PTW isn’t that kind of band. Not only were they around long before the kind of bands I imagine gave you the influence for your jab, but are also super talented musicians and didn’t have the whiney lyrics like some of the others that were becoming popular around 03’
This band was amazing. You come before you was a masterpiece and still holds up till this day. Very timeless.
Opposite of December is my favorite ..but yeah you come before you is awesome too!
Tear From the Red is the masterpiece. But who am I kidding, they all are!

Holy fuck .... they sound amazing live. And his voice. Wtf?!!!
How come they aren't more well known?!?!
Been wondering that for years and years myself

Buddy they’re very well known. They’re pioneers, if it wasn’t for them there wouldn’t be a lot of metalcore bands around.

Crystal Lake is by far 17 years later top 10
Crystal lake is in the top 10 heavy songs ever I reckon.

Hey fellas, how many monsters does 1 band really need for a 30 minute set?

Great version of nerdy wow
Back when hardcore pits were dangerous
What a weak crowd, but back then warped was still punk as hell
These crowds are always, weak people
