I'd be very interested in seeing the Ram Golf Fx77 irons reviewed. They look almost exactly the same as the Takomo 101's and are actually almost $100 less than them. I think they're the best budget irons out now.

@@markzinda8863 couldn’t believe the change in my game when I got my first forged irons, the feel made all the difference. Watching my friends lose balls with their strong lofted clubs is my favourite.

After all, a club that “feels” great and is consistently 15 yds offline and 20 yds short wouldn’t be good no matter how great it feels.

Hi Question for you i am looking for a more forgiving club that my stealth irons i hit them good but is am slowing down in swing speed will be 60 next March so i wanna get some irons that will age with me I have narrowed it down to 2 sets Takomo 101's and Eleven's hybrid irons i know its apples to oranges but which did you find easier to hit and more forgiving ? 3-pw in the Eleven's is 1225 ( Canadian ) 4-pw in the Takomo's 101 are 850 ( Canadian ) i got my handicap down to 6.5 but i wanna make golf as easy as possible what are your thoughts ? both are straight to consumer so i can not try them thx i look forward to your thoughts cheers from Canada

Great honest video, I purchased a set of the 101t's, as good looking & feeling club as you can find at half the $$$. I had them within 3 weeks of ordering back in December.
Gabe I trust you and whatever you teach us. Question, I am a senior golfer I have been using Taylor Made M4 irons regular steel shafts. I gave them to my grandson with the plan that i was going to get fitted for something lite graphite Ping G430, 923 HL, Titleist T300, and maybe the Cleveland Halos or the Apex DCB. Something game improvement. So, up here in NY I am starting to go to the range to get my swing ready for the fitting and i am using clubs I got fitted for back in 2008. I don’t know but maybe my swing improved but I am hitting them high straight and pretty far. Now I am thinking the way i am hitting these, I’m about to spend over 1,000 and gain maybe a few yards!!!! Are todays clubs that much better? Thanks for your opinion.
Todays irons are better but not dramatically better than irons of recent years. Manufacturers have been lowering lofts to make it appear that they go further. But if you have the cash why not treat yourself to a new set. Consider the Mizuno JPX range too.
@@Ryglado Hi, so here's what happened. I never did the fitting, I had hit someone's Callaway X-22 and I liked it. I looked on ebay and there are a lot of sets for 200 or so. I got a graphite 7 iron and worked with that and love how straight it went ... so I got a set and love them. They just want to go straight.
I bought this 101t irons. They are pretty sleek and forgiving. For feel wise, they feel more clicky compared to Mizuno cast, but softer than other Big 4 cast irons in my opinion. No regrets buying this :)
So, would the 101t or the maltby IM be a better club for FL golf conditions? I’m looking for a club with a softer feel and forgiving. I’m stuck between the 2 options. Great review Gabe…I just bought a set of MP 221s today…how would you compare the feel between the two? I also play T100S irons…Seems these are more like them with a little extra help in them vice being a pure blade…Two complaints…1. You resigned yourself to a 3 shot hole on 9 (“the 3rd shot will be over water.”). Why not go for it in two???? LOL…Second, do you find a lot of courses put the rakes in the bunker? I tend to see them outside bunkers…I think that’s how they are on the PGA too…I’d love to buy the heads for these and make my own set of clubs…I may do the 301 muscle backs though…The one other negative for these clubs is the shaft options are very limited in today’s world. BUT, you can order the heads only for $150 less and put whatever shafts you want in them…so, that’s a plus. Wish more would sell heads only.
Had the c300 forged and missed them terribly. the d7 forged where good as well, the d9 where absolutely horrible. the newish CB's are better than the c300 forged so I'll be getting some soon.
I ordered the stock 101's and received them in 6 days to the U.S. I'm a 15 handicap and they have been dead straight for me, even on mishits. They are slightly shorter on distance than my Callaway Rogue Xs but the forgivness far exceeds that. I am extremely happy with them
Have tried the wedges. At £89 they are great value for money, considering my hi toe wedges are £139. They are doing a set here in the UK, for just over £400 which is a steal in my opinion. My P790s four iron through to gap wedge are just over £1200.

I don't remember that round in super detail, but this one I know I had 7/9 putts at birdie from less than 20'. Both are good sets, but I like this one just a touch more.
@@LetsPlayThru If I remember you missed a putt on 9 to tie or beat your 9 hole record. Of course it's all subjective to how well you drive and putt on any given day.
I hit a 58º wedge, ball all the way back in my stance, weight leaning forward onto my front foot, hit down on it. It's a tough shot if you're not comfortable around the green though...and I didn't even execute it well here. A better shot for most mere mortals would be a 7 iron, choked down, take a putter stroke. Let it just pop out and release.
You should do a head to head between the ram fx 77 , these from the video, and the sub 70 699 irons. Those tend to be the top 3 direct to consumer brands I always hear about. I think that would be a great video, not mention all 3 are $500 or less.
Great review - I have been waiting on this one! Had you putted like normal this is an even par score. Customizing them will take 8-12 weeks, and when you add those costs plus shipping the total is closer to $700. For around that same price I can get the PXG 0211s and for about $300 more I could get Mizuno JPX 923 Hot Metal Pros. Are the JPX significantly better? I'm an 8 handicap that hits my irons very similar to you distance-wise.
That's a good question. I would say these clubs are 95% of what the Mizuno are. So you've got to decide if the 5% is worth it or not. For some that answer is yes, for others it's no.

I’m all for buying expensive putters. It’s the Club you use more than any other club in the bag. My Saks Parente is more expensive than the whole set as well.
I placed my order back in January. Before I did, I asked about their return policy and was told that I could try the 7 iron. Just got my set and will try the 7 iron this weekend.
So many quality consumer direct clubs companies out there. Hopefully the big name brands will start to cut their prices so they don't lose market share. I just bought a set of sub 70's irons myself

It’s because of being so back ordered I’m declining trying these 101 irons as I have a tournament in early May, don’t think will get to me in time

Maltbys hands down. Only thing good about Takomo is the word Tako (🌮) in the name.. and Takos are damn delicious!

Peter Finch compared the Takomo 101s to the Mizuno 223s and they were surprisingly similar.
Got my Wilson Staff c300 (forged) irons for $500 Canadian, still in love with them 3 years later. Very underrated brand.
