@@speakeasyusa Where do you get that you don't have a ''freedom of choice''? Like, you're not being forced to NOT pay for healthcare or for school in Denmark. The option is there if you want to do that stuff. Besides, there's no ''freedom of choice'' in America. It's an illusion. You think you have a choice when it comes to your education or healthcare in the US? All of them will mess you up. Literally all of them. Education is ridiculously expensive and so is healthcare. You literally have no other choice but to pay up and go bankrupt or pay up and have little to survive afterwards. That's our ''freedom of choice''.

This is wonderful and I would feel the same way if I were a citizen in Denmark. Unfortunately, in the US, people generally care only about themselves, not what is best for society. Take for example education. In the US, people go to university (paying way too much) with the dream to make big money. In Denmark, people are paid to university because your society understand the return value of highly educated citizens. It is best for society, then the individual. The shortsightedness of Americans and our societal structure annoys me to no end and makes me want to move to your great country. Danes walk the walk.

@@StellaLovesMusic25 You can't just make something up to be right. Here's why you're wrong:
      - Socialist healthcare is not minimal (no clue where you got that from).
      - Being able to choose your doctors doesn't matter and you can't do that with insurance anyway
      - "You get what is available". This is also true for insurance because getting something that is not available is not possible
      - Not treating you for a small wound is exactly what insurance does if you can't pay it. With free healthcare they will definitely treat it
      - Bad doctors won't keep their jobs with free healthcare. The law won't be on their side; health insurance doesn't affect any part of their job and the government won't help them just because of that
Insurance costs you way more than free healthcare and they will only cover you after you pay a massive amount of money.

I'm from Mexico, grew up at the border where a lot of people have the option to work in the US, and came to Denmark to study a master's. People from outside Europe do have to pay tuition, but I got a scholarship from the Danish government. Any other European: Greek, Spaniard, etc., also have free access to school up to the master's level. PhDs have a liveable salary.
And while studying a master's here, I worked at the same time to cover my rent and expenses. 15 hours a week was enough to live a comfortable life and even save for a flight back to visit Mexico during the holidays.
If I were studying and working in Mexico or the US, I'd easily have to work at least double the hours in order to make ends meet.

Communism is dictatorship (in most cases). In reality America has a "disguised" feudalism - like Europe in the middle ages. Denmark has democratic capitalism I'd say. While what Jørgensen said is true, and those things are huge reasons we're happy... I find these videos always fail to mention the Danish mentality and culture.
We have this thing called Law of Jante (Not an actual law, but a mindset), which basically means no one is better than the man next to him. Whether you end up working as a doctor or a sewage worker, there's a need for you and you're important for society to run smoothly. The doctor might have a bigger income, but that comes down to the fact his work is a lot more complicated. But the doctor is not a better human being than the sewage worker. A doctor and a sewage worker can easily be friends, as you're rarely identified by your work, but as a human.
This leads to Danes usually just being content with their lives. In other words, happy with how their life is going. It's not about making as much money as possible and have a huge house with a pool... And whatever else is in the "American dream".
I don't believe we'll see Americans adopt that mindset even with Bernie in the White House. But I ope he'll win and he manage to change the things he wants to get changed in America. The higher taxes are indeed worth it and I think America would greatly benefit from doing something similar.

We have in Denmark had tradition for using the bicycle since before anyone had cars.
The reason is simple, Denmark is mostly flat land without neither hills or mountains, hence easy to use a bike. With a good infrastructure and due to high prices of vehicles and transportation and because Denmark is a small country where everything is close by. Having and using a bicycle makes a lot of good sense.

      You heard wrong then.
American dream: if you work hard you will succeed.
If your idea of succes is having a mansion, lots of wealth, fame.
Denmark really isn't the place to be. By the legislation put on companies and the taxes mentioned you will come nowhere near success.
Denmark is a good place to be if you desire living in small but very expensive houses or flats driving small price range cars and travelling moderately for mild budgets.
Denmark is the right place for you if you desire to work 40 hours a week and where 20 of those hours every week is not worked for your own wealth and health but for others and those others you're paying for are mostly people that hasn't benefitted society.
      The following:
Education, healthcare, military, police, justice system, environment and infrastructure takes up 40% of our taxes.
60% of the taxes paid in Denmark goes to Social security and public adminstration.
Stop this bs misinformation campaign. Wealth ain't something that just comes to your aid because you want it.
wealth of society is the overall wealth created by every individual of that society.
Why Denmark has become a wealthy country is because we have ensured using our ressources to its maximale capacities. We are wealthy because a lot of people are willing to work and work hard and effecient.
We are wealthy because we aren't overpopulated. If we were more people it wouldn't mean higher gdp per capita but a lower gdp per capita.
Thanks to our low population, our overall hard work ethics, our homogene population (not multiculteral), and reasonable traditions we are one of the best countries.

Public debt in Denmark is around 36% of GDP. In Sweden it's around 41% of GDP. I'll agree that France has a problem. Their public debt is a staggering 97% of GDP. And yes, they have the higest taxes of all in combination with relatively low minimum wages and higher unemployment rates. That's causing them problems. Btw. I also believe that protesting is a stronger part of their culture. Bottom line is you can't compare France directly to the Nordic countries. US public debt to GDP is around 107% at the moment. In my view, the political landscape has shifted to the right the past forty years putting Rep's on the extreme end of the spectrum, Dems firmly on the right and progressives being the new left (however centrist from a European perspective). Party lines should be drawn for the people's sake. It's then you push through full-packaged progressive views. Trust me, if all Americans get a taste of a "take it for granted" health care system in its full honest form, they'll fight tooth and nail to keep it. Compromise at your own peril.
