    ... excellently explained, Colin! Particularly easy to understand thanks to exactly the right examples. Thank you from Berlin/Germany

    That denoise is by far the best for me shooting boxing shows often in low light on an APSC camera and it cleans up the images real nice and I can now push the iso up further in order to shoot at higher shutter speeds

    • @bodinian
      @bodinian ปีที่แล้ว

      It's true. It's always better to get some noise but have a good shutter speed vs less noise but the subject smeared across the image due to motion blur. Now with these enhanced denoise capabilities we don't have to worry as much about the trade-off.

    I would like to see more on compositing using the “open smart objects in layers” feature.

  • @mitch-lawless
    @mitch-lawless ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice, these are actually pretty handy. Even though not perfectly accurate, I like the AI masking that separates by specific feature of the subject. This will save me quite a bit of time, rather than having to brush everything all the time.

    I work with astrophotography and the curves in the masks was amazing new feature.

    The denoise is my fave, but only because I will use it most often. Adobe has really been cranking out the useful upgrades lately!

    Denoise! Some years back I photographed polar bears in Kaktovik in overcast weather and a blizzard. Used that awful ,noisey canon 7D and many of y images were so noisey. Now they are cleaning up beautifully.

    Being able to use curves in masks is awesome. I’ve always wished they had the hsl panel within a mask but this will make tweaking colours easier than it has been.

    I've just returned from shooting a band in a very dark venue with rapidly changing lighting, so any advice that makes it easier to get good results with Denoise would be welcome.

    Thanks, Colin! Denoise looks very impressive, especially for my old EOS 5DMKII :) I saw Topaz Denoize Ai installed as an extension of your LRC. What can you say comparing Adobe's new feature (does it really use Ai for locally installed LRC?) and Topaz Ai instrument? I really thinking of installing Topaz, but this video stopped me :)

      GPU probably. We are all expecting the performance to get better as Adobe works on this feature. Wright Brothers weren’t too worried about anything but getting airborne

    Very interesting AI option Denoise, however every time I tried to use them I got the message
    , "this is not available on this photo". so what are the requirements?

    • @photoshopcafe
      @photoshopcafe  ปีที่แล้ว

      Bayer or xtrans Raw file, you must have missed it when I talk about that on the video.

  • @dutchgal54
    @dutchgal54 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Colin, I was a bit disappointed. I found out that the new Denoise function is not compatible with my older RAW files (a.o. .CR2) coming from Canon EOS 5D MIII and older camera versions. I'm building up my catalog since 2008, so there are quite a lot older examples to find there. Anyway, the new curve function is great.

    • @studiog2682
      @studiog2682 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't use Lightroom but the new AI Denoise tool is also in Adobe Camera Raw. I was able to use it with my old CRW files from an original Canon Rebel (2006) and CR2 files from a 7D.

  • @pbates11
    @pbates11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice info, but why do you never list the version number? (A little research reveals it to be 12.3.) Whenever I used to review software, I would always list the version number.

    • @photoshopcafe
      @photoshopcafe  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe I put that in the description?

  • @jeffreybowen1851
    @jeffreybowen1851 ปีที่แล้ว

    In exporting from lightroom 12.3 to photoshop, I have no choice of versions like beta. I find it a pain to keep going back to creative clou apps list to retrieve beta; it disappears strangely.

    • @photoshopcafe
      @photoshopcafe  ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of it should already be there, do an update

    • @jeffreybowen1851
      @jeffreybowen1851 ปีที่แล้ว

      @photoshopCAFE All updated and the only part that refuses to work is a choice to go to beta when moving a photo from lightroom into photoshop.
      Only labels and allows a move into the main photoshop program. No choice given.

    Denoise is slow takes 15 min to do one photo so how is this going save time?😔The photo I used it on did not have that much noise' My laptop is not that old.

    Best new feature? Hands down, opening multiple images as smart objects into layers!

  • @bigrobotnewstoday1436

    I think DXO Deep PRIME is the best but DXO Deep PRIME XD has artifacts and is only good when using high ISO but not extreme high ISO more like ISO 1,600 to ISO 3,200 or 6,400. But if a image is damaged from extreme high ISO artifacts come into play so I only use Deep PRIME then. I do think DXO PhotoLab is better then DXO PureRaw because you have a luminance slider. Also DXO restores loss color due to high ISO. But Adobe new noise reduction is also very good.

    I'm actually torn between the New Denoising in Lightroom, compared to how well it's done in PS, and the Import Smart Objects as Layers into PS as being a favorite. I take a lot of pictures of animals and many of them are indoor shots not in studio environment. My photography is all just for fun and hobby anyways but I like to make montages for people and I like them to look the best I can make them. Cheers! Stay Healthy and Stay Sane!

    I found another new feature in the grid view (at least I never saw it before), now there are 3 new white icons on the right bottom where one could filter "real pictures" and "virtual copies" . I often use those virtual copies, to work with LR mobile, so this is very welcome!
