@@OurPetsHealth my dog has really bad seizures for instance today he has had one at around 6:30 in the morning and then one at around 5 in the afternoon he tends to knock out his teeth. My father as told me that he tends to walk into the wall and chairs even if he hasn't had one do you have any advice because my father decides it's too much and puts him done. I also would like to let you know he was inbred.
My dog just had a seizure . It was the first time I didn’t know what to do but cry for help. It’s 3am here . God please heal my Jolene. She’s so precious to me I love her so much
Thannks mam for your information. God bless you and your beloved dog. My dog has also suffering in that desises. At that time legs paddelig, white foamy mouth, jarking of body?? Plz tell me is that am i lost my dog for this desiese? He ia now in under treatment. Age is 2years
@@2eleven48 not odd, she wrote that the dog HAD a seizure. After the seizure, all you can really do is keep an eye on the dog, calm it down and give it something to eat/drink. You’ll have plenty of time to go online looking for support or information on what happened.
My dog has no known trigger, his first seizure was a few months ago and I quickly recorded duration and severity as well as recovery time of each episode. As soon as his seizures came short of 25 days to 16 days, he suddenly had another episode 2 hours after. Up until this time we had been in constant contact with the vet. His blood and urine work proved he was in peak health and the vet was now concerned. We now have medical injections on hand in case of multiple seizures and he’s on medication. The medication was a bit.... scary at first. Like you say, he was all drunk and couldn’t keep his feet under him. But now after a couple weeks he’s more like the pup we know. More agile and playful... it’s really nice to know there’s communities out here that experience the same thing because watching your fur baby go through a seizure isn’t something to scoff at. If your dog has seizures more than once a month and especially more than one in a day. Contact your vet. But more importantly record time, day, and duration of the event. Like our pets health said. It’s important for diagnosis. If the dog is really young or very old then it’s likely more serious. Sorry for the long note. Keep them pups healthy everyone.
Thanks for sharing your story, having no known trigger is definitely the most common situation. What medication is your pup on? Sounds like he's on the right track!
Phenobarbital and he’s just started on it. Luckily he’s over the worst of the side effects. He was pretty clumsy there for a week or so. Due for his blood test in a week and a half or so to make sure the dosage is correct. Here’s hoping :)
We adopted our boy when he was 4 so we didn't know his history. Witnessing him having a seizure was traumatic until the vet explained why etc. He now knows he can trust me and when he is about to have a seizure he tries to get to me as quickly as possible so i can hold him. I apply a firm but not suffocating amount of pressure to him by holding him almost in a hug. This reassures him he is safe and also prevents him from trying to move and walk. I speak softly to him and let him know that it's almost over, because at this point I generally know how long it lasts. When he has overcome the worst I release him an allow him to get comfortable. I wait another few minutes and then feed him a little water with a syringe. His mouth gets extremely dry and I can see that this is unpleasant for him. I give him about 10ml of water just enough to create some moisture in his mouth. When he settles to lay down I cover him with his blanket and he takes a 20 minute nap with me at his side. Seizures are traumatic and it tires him. After about 30 minutes he is back to his normal self again.
Thank you so much for your time and this video. My 4 y/o golden had his first two seizures 5 hours apart 3 days ago and was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy. I have spoken to two vets (emergent and non emergent) and been scouring the internet for information to understand and be prepared. This video has brought me the most comfort. Your demeanor is very calming when speaking of a tough diagnosis and you provide hope. I definitely have my worries but will remain positive and hopeful that we can get this under control. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing fact 4. We’ve tried phenobarbital first which worked well for about 6 month but started getting regular (monthly) breakthrough episodes. We’re now on a combo of zonisamide and bromide, recently we increased the bromide due to increasing number of breakthrough episodes. It’s been a couple months since then which was working, but had another event tonight. It breaks my heart that such a perfect puppy has to deal with this.
Today my puppy had several seizures. It was very scary to witness such episodes. At first i panicked and didnt know what to do. After his body relaxed, he screamed out in pain, he also barked unusually for hours on end... it was so severe that the vet told me that they couldn't do anything to save him. I felt hopeless. I was sad, angry, heartbroken i mean it was mixed feelings at that time.. my only resort was to pray. He got up and started eating but was still tired. I saw that as an improvement! Right now he's sleeping calmly. He's on the road to recovery! Remember that prayer works people! God hears our prayers! Never give up on God! TRUST HIM ALWAYS❤
My baby, Hazel which is a and lab and German shepherd mix(mom) Australian shepard and blue heeler (Dad) we got her as a pup. She has been having very small seizures since 1.5 years old. The last 2 months she had full on cluster seizures, back to back, Kicking and tensing up releasing bowels. Pray for my baby and hope these meds help my girl!
My dog had epilepsy from 1.5 months, we did not manage to get him a medicine with a doctor or go to resonance because these frequent attacks unfortunately took his life before an appointment in the clinic. he lived only 1.5 year 😥 he's died 1 year ago 21 of december. I will always remember him.
Thank you for video. God Bless you and your Family. thought the world was ending after watching my German Shepard have a seizure . Took her directly to hospital , but then I was stressed and worrying about her. I youtube it and found you. Thank God. Well done , Helped Greatly and now I can get ready to handle a dog with seizures .
My small poodle had his first seizure at the age of six. I realized that it began with a few shots of vaccines and anti tick medication. He got it all at the same time and I am really convinced that it was the trigger of it. I also noticed that he had more seizures when he was left alone at home while I was at work so it can also be mental triggers. Instead of giving him medication from the vet I started to give him some cannabis oil and turmeric which really helped a lot. He haven't had a seizure ever since
@@darrellwood79 mine had a knee surgery. After the surgery in june he had a lot of seizures within the following months. I think anesthesia is also a huge trigger. I started to worry a lot but every time the CBD oil stopped the seizure within a minute so he didn’t even had long seizures. Thankfully he had his last seizure in summer this year and hopefully never again!!! If he will ever have such many episodes of seizure again I will consider giving him medicine to prevent it in the first place. But so far he is doing fine
My dog had 3 seizure yesterday and 2 today. (Tho her seizure is just like a minute or two and she recover in a instant) I just had her checked today because there is typhoon right now in our country. The vet said there is no medicine. He just gave my dog vitamins. And did not tell me what to do. So, thank you for this. Atleast I can help my baby.
Dr, my mini Morkie just had a seizure and I couldn’t help him made me cry so much and feel so guilty for it because I haven’t seeing him like this before. His stopped fur a few seconds and then got it again. I will grind him to his vet soon.
my chi gets them too don’t really know his age (hes been rehomed) he’s maybe 4-5 years old but i heard a lot of chis get seizures for unknown causes hope our babies heal:(
My corgi, and emotional support dog, had a seizure yesterday. Two minutes long. Four hours later he had another. We ended up taking him to the vet, where he is now under 24 hour watch (we’re picking him up tomorrow.) hes only 2 years old so this is terrifying, and being someone with anxiety its horrible to try and cope. He was diagnosed with epilepsy this morning and i pray that the medication works to help him. This video was reassuring and im grateful its a topic i can learn about.
Thank you for this, I just adopted a 3 yr old Brussels Griffon mix rescue with epilepsy. I am learning all that I can to help her deal with this and all your videos are very informative and helpful :)
I have an 11 year old Brussels Griffon who suffers from seizures as well. It worries me to the core. CBD oil from Hemp Lucid helps Gizmo a lot. Definitely look into getting a bottle for your baby. Hope your Griff is going well!
I think you already know me as @Niko, I want to say that my dog also has seizures and its real pain for me to watch, he usually has epilepsy during the summer. I came to this video just to see that I'm not alone. Sometimes I wish I had epilepsy and my dog didn't. My dog is doing some progress, he didn't have a seizure for like 6 months or so but just today he had one. He was and still is acting strange and I'm sure it's not brain damage or anything like that because he still knows the signs I do when I want to hug him, scratch his belly and he has the same reaction (I mean he still knows everything I tought him, he is probably tired) . I just want to say that nobody is alone, epilepsy is a tragic thing to have, but the end of the day, let's all be glad that It wasn't any worse. I'm glad that I could find this channel. Usually epilepsy is a very sensitive topic I don't like talking about, and none of my friends understand. I'm happy here we can all connect with people actualy understand that it's a serious thing
@@OurPetsHealth That was her one and only one so far. The vet told us to watch her and don't get her too excited. If it happens again, she'll be evaluated and put on medication if necessary. But i also heard that shortens her life. But I'm glad that she hasn't had another one. Thank you so much for the video
My lab had her first seizure at two years age, shes 7 now. She have no time gap for these seizures. He had sometimes once a year and then mayb twice a month. Shes on medication now but inspite of that she had an episode of seizure though after 6 months and the severity was less
Last night our 2 year old Australian Shepard standard poodle mix had a seizure. It lasted about 2 minutes long. He was sleeping at our feet when my husband noticed Morgan turned on his back mouth wide open and Ridgid. He started shaking uncontrollably paddling seem not able to breathe. When he released his body he was disoriented. I didn’t believe he could see or know where or who we were. It was about 20 minutes before he was somewhat himself. I thought at one point it was rabies because towards the end of the seizure he had foam and was growling. 😪 Thank goodness we called emergency clinic. Then went online and did our research and found your podcast. At this time we are keeping a notebook on him. We’re hoping for the best that he doesn’t have another seizure anytime soon if ever🤞We’re thankful for you videos . Thank you so much for caring so much for animal life.
Thanks a lot for the video 🙂 My dog had seizures 2 days back, we immediately took him to a vet and after medication the seizures stopped and he has improved a lot, but he has side effects like wobbling and increase in appetite, I was confused and scared that he might have brain tumor but after watching your video I felt good that it might be side effects of the medication. Anyways to confirm that there's no issues with the brain he is going for a CT Scan on Wednesday. Hopefully in the results his brain is normal. Thanks for the informative video. You are doing a great job.
Thanks, and pleased to have been some help. If it's phenobarbital he's on then you might want to check out this video - th-cam.com/video/Iral3UWbfEQ/w-d-xo.html hope you get good news on Wednesday
I really enjoyed your video . I felt comforted and now I feel well educated. I have a 2 year old cocker spaniel. yesterday was his second seizure duration was around 2 min. His first seizure was 2 months ago. I personally blame SIMPARICA TRIO for these two seizures but I am not quite sure. I plan on stopping the medication and hoping for the best. symptoms/ observations on my dog -before seizure began had diarrhea -did not want to go to sleep -seeking attention -rubbing eyes (seizure about to start) -no control of his body -would curl up in a ball and paddle with his back legs. front paws were stiff -eyes would be dazed out in space -no chomping with mouth or foam -poop while having the seizure and did pee -(after seizure )threw up.
Our 11yr old boxer Bailey blessed our home about 10yrs ago. Growing up with g/kids, whom he absolutely adores has defined him as the ultimate clown. Taps for this guy is promptly at 9pm unless at gathering either home or elsewhere, as true social butterfly loves to mingle and flirt w/people. He has been having uncomfortable nights of sleep however, cradling his hind legs and rocks back & forth, at times more violently, ever since we got him. Early diagnosed with level 3 heart murmur due to birth defect/leaky heart valve, have been bringing him to local cardiologist every year for EKG & ultrasound to keep him in check. Doctor never prescribing any meds and this guy being my first boxer I thought all that just part of breed. Important note, above episodes happen only while asleep, after I'd pat or wake him, he'd be ok, back to normal. Early morning one month ago while out in the yard, vomits profusely then after few walking steps his legs just gave out from under him drops on lawn and started having a convulsive, Exorcist type, foam at the mouth seizure. Horrible experience, but luckily only lasted 10-12 seconds with Bailey slowly bouncing back to normal enough condition to devour his b/fast of couple scrambled eggs w/feta cheese, rice and some veggies better-half whipped up for him about half hour later. Doubly concerned of kidney/liver disease from vomit was lucky enough to have Bailey's vet Dr Mazza, who's always right on every time, at the Angell Memorial up here in Beantown schedule a physical w/blood work, etc. which came back normal last week btw and also an appt w/neurologist for his first ever epileptic seizure. Have to commend TH-cam and your site for plethora of valuable info. Thank you kindly
Thank you so much for this video! My dog has just been diagnosed with Idiopathic Epilepsy yesterday and we’re really worried about it. It’s so hurting to watch her while she’s having seizures. The vet gave her Phenobarbital and I have read about its long-term side effects. Now the question is, can we give her supplements like prevention for liver disease, or for brain damage, and or vitamins for anemia? Because these are some of the long-term side effects of taking Phenobarbital. Thank you so much 💛
Phenobarbital is really not as bad as you've read in the vast majority of dogs. Here is some more information about it and epilepsy in general which might help you - th-cam.com/video/Iral3UWbfEQ/w-d-xo.html
Our Pets Health thank you Dr. Alex. I just want my dog not to have any further complications because it’s really sad to see her in pain. Thank you for always responding to our concerns, Doctor. 😊
Thank you Would you recommend an MRI for a 2 and a half year old dog who has had seizures for the past six months but mostly completely under control when on medication of Pheno Barbitol and Kapra? She has had relatively short seizures two in a row recently..
There was a show dog lady on a ticTok live that was advocating euthanasia for dogs with intractable seizures. Mad me mad af because I have intractable epilepsy, so I understand what seizures feel like. She was saying the quality of life was aweful, the seizures hurt them physically, and they were in distress from confusion. Yes, your muscles are sore after a big seizure, you’re disoriented and confused, but that doesn’t last. Even with intractable seizures, my dog and childhood who had it was totally cool between them. And she was talking about the medical care costs and stuff like that. And it just made me think “so, do you think we should euthanize an animal for a disease??“ I wouldn’t want to be treated that way. Really really made me angry.
My dog just had her first seizure a few hours ago, we took her to the vet 45 minutes after. At the vet however she started having symptoms of another seizure. She’s only 6 years old and according to the vet she’s healthy. The vet gave her medication and inserted some sort of IV bag into her.
I hope she's doing well. I've got some more seizure and epilepsy information you might be interested in here - th-cam.com/video/0NqJi32Asvs/w-d-xo.html
My friends dog had a seizure when I had my back turned, and was alarmed by what I saw when I turned around again. It puzzled me because she had always been a happy healthy dog
Lost my dog just a few hours ago. He had his first seizure in august 23, he was absolutely fine untill last four days. He got multiple seizures and lost his life few hours ago. My suggestion for all pet parent is that if your dog has seizures more than 2-3 immediately take him to the emergency vet, it is hard to see your loved one go like that suddenly. And i pray none of you goes through this. Take care.
I believe my 4.5 yr old Yorkie is starting to have seizures. The first time I saw him acting weird was the first time I took him to a dog beach. There was so many dogs so I thought it was due to stress, the following week we took him out to a park but as I was putting him in the car I noticed his tongue was getting purple was panting too much and his body started getting stiff. I panicked and almost fainted with him I didn’t know what to do so I poured water in his body because it was very hot and little by little he started getting better. Few months ago he was playing with my other dogs and all of a sudden he ran towards me really scared and as i held him his front legs started getting stiff I ran outside to let him catch some fresh air and started rubbing his body trying to calm him down and less than a minute he went back to normal. A week later it happened again and now here we are… it’s happening every two days. I can’t sleep anymore. I can’t go to work because I don’t want to leave him alone I can’t stop crying and I get so depressed I just want to die. We already took him to a regular vet and we even took him to the ER and the doctors don’t think it’s seizures. They think he’s having anxiety attacks since he knows exactly what’s going on. I talk to him and he listens he looks around and he even growls to our other dog while he was having that episode and right away after he has that we put him down on the floor and he starts running around and playing. The vet prescribed Gabapentin and he’s been taking it for two weeks and I don’t see any improvement. He is eating and drinking, peeing and pooping normal. He was more playful without the medicine now he sleeps more and he is more calm but the episodes keep happening. He has an appointment next month with a neurologist but I don’t want to wait that long. Since the regular vet doesn’t think it’s seizures but I do think it is should I ask them to prescribe seizure medicine? Would it hurt him if it’s really not seizures? Please help!!! I don’t know what to do I’m in so much stress right now. 💔😭😭😭 I’m going to the vet later today I just want them to give me a different medicine so my doggy can be fine.
My dog had his first seizure about 2 weeks ago. But Today he had 3 seizures that lasted about 1-2 min each. He had those 3 seizures within 30 min. He is 11 months old Labrador retriever. The vet said it probably Idiopathic epilepsy. But me and my family are skeptical. The neighbor on the other side of our backyard gave him a ball that night he had his first seizure. We don’t know if he put anything else on the ball like some kind of chemical. Plus the neighbor has been to jail before for drugs we have seen him have problems in the middle of the night arguing with people. We hope this isn’t true. Our dog is very friendly towards everyone that we have to hold him back so he doesn’t jump on people.
My 1 and a half year old Border Collie just had her 4th seizure within 2-3 months, it’s absolutely heart breaking and I can’t help but break down when it happens. Just started her on Keppra so I have high hopes!
My dog was just put on epiphen two days ago. It’s so hard seeing her sad, whiney, loss of coordination, anxiety ridden and easily scared. I’m really hoping these side effects wear off soon. I am guessing the trigger was swiffer mop products.
My 2 yr old dalmatian dog just had a seizure, it's so heartbreaking to watch and all I can do was massage his chest and tell him soothing words.😥 This is the third time it happened. The first one was a long time ago, and the 2nd time was a few months ago.😢 Is it curable?
Hi. My dog had his first seizure and it happened twice a day, 8 hours apart. 4 days later he got his third one. Is this likely idiopathic or secondary?
We're scared to start her on phenobarbitol so I'm initially looking for a more holistic approach before starting meds - which is changing her diet, adding MCT oil, fish oil, and maybe CBT oil as I've read a lot of success stories about this from a lot of people so finger's crossed. I wonder what you think of this?
MCT rich diets and CBD both can help with the control of seizures and may work well for some animals but it's going to depend on how severe/frequent the seizures are and vary by individual. If they are only infrequent and very short then worth a go but I would be concerned about using them alone if the presentation was more severe
My dog has had many seizures and is taking around 20 pills a day. He had 4 of them in one day just the other day. Today he has been very off balance and wobbly and very flimsy I guess is the word. If you have any ideas for this pleas let me know
My dog got diagnosed with epilepsy yesterday after he took on 2 severe seizures. We took him to the vet and all, but what I’m struggling with is how do you stay calm during your dog’s seizure? We have to watch and time them when they happen again, but I couldn’t sleep all night just thinking about the way he looked while having one. Seeing it happen sent me into a panic attack, so thankfully my family was there to help him. I want to help him by being sure he doesn’t get hurt during a seizure, but it’s emotionally difficult to watch it happen. Tips anyone please?
It can certainly be really hard to witness a seizure. Hopefully treatment should help reduce or even eliminate them. These other videos might also help you - th-cam.com/video/XX6swq1IIMI/w-d-xo.html

Hello, our JackrussellXyorkie has epilepsy and has been on Phenobartibal for 5 months with good effect. Is it safe for her to have a litter of puppies? Kate
It's so hard for me to take him for a check.up or find a veterinarian cause there is no clinic here related to animals... My 2 dogs had passed away because of parvo and it's too late for me to know the treatment.. Now i have this cute little puppy who has been suffering from seizure since the other day.. It's her 3 days now having seizure. And i am so worried cause he just able to rest just a couple of second or a minute. Then started again.. Please give me some tips on how to cure this kind of disease.. He is just a 2 weeks old puppy. He's not yet eating but already had this kind of suffering.. I want him to be a happy pup
ok after seeing this i think that my dog with idiopathic epilepsy with siezures that happens like once every 2 or 3 week and which also lasts for barely a minute i guess hes compleatly ok...but ill keep consulting different vet's about the cure cuz ive never got a straight answer so far from any1...I keep asking, keep visiting and they never give straight answers about what to do or what tests does he need !
My Dog has started having fits he’s on medication now but why our the fits always in the mornings. He’s been great lately nearly back to his old self but yesterday he has a fit in the morning and again this morning but never in the day or evening anybody know why 🙏
Sir I am from india ..... It's 4 AM , my dog Jimmy(7 years old German Shepherd) was having a seizure at 3 in the morning. His first seizure occurred 2 weeks ago.... His seizure lasts 3-5 mins... Both these seizure happened while he was sleeping . Sometimes He pee while sleeping which started in less than a month.
My dog is 1 1/2 to 2, female, Shepard/Husky. She's only been seen by a ver once, before I got her 6 months ago. She was given 65.8mg phenobarbital (2x daily), and 500mg potassium bromide at 750mg 2x daily. I was first told not to give them to her, which was fine for a couple months. but then the seizures started. They are in clusters of a couple minutes long, and another within a minute or two, which lasts about 15 minutes to 45 minutes. She has episodes about a month apart. I was told that they thought it may have been brought on by arguing. She tries to spot the phenobarbitol pill out. Is it common to start with such a high dosage? She hasn't had potassium for 2 months, and it doesn't seem to have changed anything
My late doggo was diagnosed with epilepsy and lymph cancer when he turned 10, turns out he had lupus, and lived for another 4 years before we put him to sleep to give him a kinder death
My dog had a seizure this morning the first big one I’ve seen him do. He does this little thing where he will shut his eyes and lean backwards almost like he passes out for a split second. i don’t know what that means but if he has another one tomorrow I’m 100% taking him to the vet. All I’ve done it cry all day.
If the dog is younger than 6 months and has a seizure, what could it be? Are there any common conditions that results in seizures while they are puppies? Our puppy died on Saturday after a seizure, second time she had it, it started with vomits that came suddenly and it escalated to seizures eventually. Took her to the vet, she needed to gain more weight to go through more comprehensive exams… unfortunately there was no time 💔
I'm sorry for your loss, here are causes of seizures - th-cam.com/video/Lbqtxhuo9CM/w-d-xo.html for younger dogs poisoning, infection, and congenital problems are most likely
My brothers dog tht I kinda see as my own dog just had a frantic uncontrolled movement...like he stretched out his legs and he was in a stiff position and kept tumbling over and then kept backing up and shaking frantically he looked very scared. He's a few months old. He's an Akita..I'm not sure if it was a seizure or not. Someone please help me with advice
is 7 too old for a dog to be diagnosed with epilepsy? he had 3 seizures yesterday. very mild and recovers fast. he had 1 a year ago but thought it was a one time thing. then it happened yesterday. can that happen? it also was the morning after he had a flea treatment if that matters.
It's possible given he has had a seizure before. If it was related to the flea treatment (and some can rarely cause seizures) then I would have expected any seizures to have happened within a few hours of it being given, and it's also unlikely related if it's a flea treatment you've used in the past. I hope he's doing OK now
My dog will be a year old on March 13 and he just had a terrifying seizure. I have had him and his brother since they were really young and this was really traumatizing for me and my dog. We took him to the vet and are hoping this is a one time seizure but I cannot stop thinking about his seizure. He was whining and crying and barking and I couldn’t help him. I don’t know what to do because I can’t even sleep. Is there any advice on how to calm yourself down after watching that. Ps my puppy is okay but he’s been napping a lot because it was traumatic.

Hi, i have female german shepherd 5.5yo .She has started having first seizure 3 mnths back .it is epilepsy.treatment is in continuation..but 2days back she has another seizure after 2 mnths which was 30 to 40 secs long and again after 24 hr of same duration like 30 to 40 sec .. she recovers within minutes after that... but it is scary... can u suggest what else i can do to help her?
If it's linked to eating then it could actually be a problem with his liver, although there are other causes in such a young pup. Really, he need a check up as it sounds like he's really not well
My dog had seizure 3 times tonight and it was scary because I need to wait until tomorrow to bring him to the vet. He doesn’t want to sleep or lay down because whenever he lies down the seizure begins.
My puppy is having seizure at the age of 3 months😭 it's so heartbreaking to witness every seizure💔 seeing those vulnerable eyes, weak body and voice from crying 😢 it's so devastating 😭😭😭
I'm really glad I found this place, all my friends think it's a funny thing, but It always shatters my heart, I really love my dog and watching him suffer like this isn't fair, hope you all doing well.
i wish I had known about glutamate triggers and the also the benefits of magnesium so i'm here to share with you all. My dog had seizers from meat except wild caught salmon with veg was okay and fruits. If i could go oback i would put her on a fruit diet for a while as per advice from a lady i know who rescues dogs from shelters.
When my dog has a seizure he foams from the mouth and blood sometimes squirts out his nose. He definitely won’t make it past 10 years but I’ll try and make it the best life for him.
My 4 year old dog has had seizures for just over 2 years now, every time he foams from the mouth. He is now on cbd oil and since starting on this his seizures are less frequent and not so intense
My son has a chihuahua and yesterday he started getting seizures where he cant walk etc.He took the dog to the vets and was told it could be epilepsy. It is a worry and the wee man is getting some medicine etc to try and help.Any more help needed can you tell me.
My dog is a 15 year old Cockapoo and has been in perfect health his whole life. Over the last two-three years he began having seizures during stressful situations such as going to the vet or the groomer (he gets extremely anxious in the car). Since 8:30pm last night, (currently 5:50pm) he has had 4 seizures. 3 more intense, and one smaller. The vet prescribed him Diazepam 2 times a day until Saturday to hopefully get him out of this cycle. What do you think the prognosis is? Most likely epilepsy?

Well I have a dog have seizure in the pass. First time it was scary but it only last 5 minutes. So, I when to the vet and their say that the chemical that you used on the dog like the fleas and tick spray. So, it happen again we going to give medication. Then,I say I don't want him to take medication the rest of his life. If you have another way to go around without taking medication and live a healthy life sent the dog have seizure ?
There is some evidence that a ketogenic diet rich in medium chain triglycerides can help improve control of seizures epilepsy. Otherwise, here's a video about starting treatment for epilepsy - th-cam.com/video/0NqJi32Asvs/w-d-xo.html
my dog just had a seizure that lasted over an hour. he was rushed to the hospital, the vet said he’s fine, but he might go blind and his brain started swelling. we don’t know if he can walk.
I think my puppy has epilepsy. She’s only 7 weeks and at first I didn’t realize what was going on I thought she was just being clumsy but I realize it happens only happens when she gets overly excited. She is other wise healthy. She’s been to the vets multiple times. It only last around 15 seconds. Someone please give me advice.
My coco, has a seizure for about and hour or longer we have got her medicine and idk if it's working shes, we tried cbd for animals, shes only 4 and has 2 boys which have seizures too but not that often as she does, I just wanna know how bad is it if her seizures to always last and hour or so. I just sit here sad watching her shake and I cant help her. I do ever they say to do but how long and how many time more until something bad may happen, thank you for any help, shes a 12 little long hair mutt, if that helps any with.

My puppy is 2 months old and just had what seemed to be a seizure she peed and pooped during having it and when it was over she ran away growling not letting me touch her, a few minutes later she was fine like nothing happened and I honestly don't know what to do now
If you haven't already, call and talk to your vet. This video explains more about all the potential seizure causes - th-cam.com/video/Lbqtxhuo9CM/w-d-xo.html
My greyhound died during a seizure this week. He was 8 1/2 years old. I heard a loud noise and his legs were rigid and neck stretched out. Then screaming. Tongue out, bleeding from mouth. From the moment I heard the seizure till death about 3 minutes. 14 months earlier one night when he was using the bathroom outside he screamed and came inside crashing into everything and appeared blind for the next 6 months. Then vision back. But I never saw him have a seizure except the very violent one at his death. 😭 I miss him so much. Any idea why a fatal seizure. All health was good, check up 2 months ago.
He was asleep downstairs, I was at The top of the stairs when I heard him. I thought he was playing aggressively with a plastic bag he somehow found but I think it was him seizing and the lampshade rocking. I first noticed him having the seizure I yelled to another family member and went to get them, I knew something was seriously wrong I first thought he had gone blind again and was panicking on the floor, not a seizure, then his screaming started. I was only away from him for 5-10 seconds when I returned he was peeing during the seizure so I thought it was going to be fatal. I laid down on the floor in front of him and put my hand by his nose so hopefully he could smell me. His eyes were wide open as he shook & screamed, I was calm and told him how much I loved him, how I enjoyed our time together, I thanked him for picking me at the adoption place and kept telling him the same over & over until he stopped breathing. Then I started to cry. I can't believe he's gone. So suddenly. It was so scary. I hope he heard me and knew I was there. He was so special 😭❤️🐾
My dog has had epilepsy a couple months since after I got her, she is 4 and she used to have... 3 min seizures? But now she has 6-7 min seizures... 😔 is that ok?
I'm sorry to hear the seizures are getting worse. At that length I would definitely be considering starting or modifying treatment. This video discusses when to start treatment for epilepsy in more detail - th-cam.com/video/0NqJi32Asvs/w-d-xo.html
Sir im new subscriber,my small dog having a seizure,my kind of good medicine i give her,i want my bby fur dog stay w/ me healthy life and long life ..i love her..please help me tell me what medicines are good for her??please reply me sir..and thank u
Check her diet. I was able to figure out that certain foods increase the chances of seizures. Google “dog diet seizure”. In my case I noticed that when I fed her turkey and beans, she would have seizures afterwards. Then I found out that beans and turkey are on the list of foods to avoid! I weeded out all the high risk foods and she’s doing much better.
My dog is 2.5 months old and he is having siezures continuously from past 2 days after almost ever hour! I took him to a vet! Can you figure out what's that if it isn't Epilepsy as you said it's not likely for a young dog? Please help , it's urgent!
I have a 2 week bulldog. It looks to me like if he has seizures. He foams, urinates and poop. That’s the only time he goes to the bathroom. He does this for about 1 min the longest. The vet said they can’t do Nothing cause he is too small please help
these are the possible causes of seizures - th-cam.com/video/Lbqtxhuo9CM/w-d-xo.html In a very young dog I'd mainly be worried about low blood glucose, toxins and a congenital problem. It's definitely not easy to look into this in a dog so young but I'd suggest trying to find another vet who can help you. It might be there is little that they can do if blood results are all normal and referral isn't an option, but your options or the most likely diagnosis should be discussed. good luck

Seizures can really vary in how violent the actions are. Sorry your dog is going through this. Hope you can find a vet for her
@@OurPetsHealth my dog has really bad seizures for instance today he has had one at around 6:30 in the morning and then one at around 5 in the afternoon he tends to knock out his teeth. My father as told me that he tends to walk into the wall and chairs even if he hasn't had one do you have any advice because my father decides it's too much and puts him done. I also would like to let you know he was inbred.

Ummm....you took the time to write this in this situation. Odd.
Sounds like he's doing great. Hope the bloods are all good!
Lokieclipse1 Post the dogs seizure videos
Lokieclipse1 So we can follow along floor danceomg
Thank you!
I hope things work out well for you and your dog

Very sorry to hear this 😪

Did it happen again?
My small poodle had his first seizure at the age of six. I realized that it began with a few shots of vaccines and anti tick medication. He got it all at the same time and I am really convinced that it was the trigger of it. I also noticed that he had more seizures when he was left alone at home while I was at work so it can also be mental triggers. Instead of giving him medication from the vet I started to give him some cannabis oil and turmeric which really helped a lot. He haven't had a seizure ever since
How's your puppy doing...mine is experiencing seizures I think it's from surgery and meds

Happy to help, hope you are both doing well
I have an 11 year old Brussels Griffon who suffers from seizures as well.
My Chloe just had a seizure. I'm beside myself. She's my beagle, my best friend. This helped me thank you.
I hope she's recovering OK
@@OurPetsHealth That was her one and only one so far. The vet told us to watch her and don't get her too excited. If it happens again, she'll be evaluated and put on medication if necessary. But i also heard that shortens her life. But I'm glad that she hasn't had another one. Thank you so much for the video
Thank you, for taking the time to make this video.
I hope your boy is back to normal and seizure free
Our Pets Health thank you for responding.
If it's phenobarbital he's on then you might want to check out this video - th-cam.com/video/Iral3UWbfEQ/w-d-xo.html

I plan on stopping the medication and hoping for the best.
symptoms/ observations on my dog
-before seizure began had diarrhea
-did not want to go to sleep
-seeking attention
-rubbing eyes (seizure about to start)
-no control of his body
-would curl up in a ball and paddle with his back legs. front paws were stiff
-eyes would be dazed out in space
-no chomping with mouth or foam
-poop while having the seizure and did pee
-(after seizure )threw up.
**after seizure he began panting
Unfortunately cocker spaniels are genetically predisposed to developing epilepsy. I hope he's doing OK now
Our 11yr old boxer Bailey blessed our home about 10yrs ago.

Thank you
Would you recommend an MRI for a 2 and a half year old dog who has had seizures for the past six months but mostly completely under control when on medication of Pheno Barbitol and Kapra? She has had relatively short seizures two in a row recently..
It normally wouldn't be top on my list of things to recommend, no
There was a show dog lady on a ticTok live that was advocating euthanasia for dogs with intractable seizures.
M here after sambhavna's coco got fits , may God grant him long life
My friends dog had a seizure when I had my back turned, and was alarmed by what I saw when I turned around again. It puzzled me because she had always been a happy healthy dog
My dog had a few fits. Now on two tablets a day. Not had one for 8 months thank god.
Take care.
I'm very sorry for your loss
I hope she responds well to treatment
My dog was just put on epiphen two days ago.
It’s so hard seeing her sad, whiney, loss of coordination, anxiety ridden and easily scared. I’m really hoping these side effects wear off soon.
I am guessing the trigger was swiffer mop products.
I hope the phenobarb does the job. You might be interested in my video about this medication - th-cam.com/video/Iral3UWbfEQ/w-d-xo.html

Hey, my dog is having the same...and i want to know how is your dog now?
Is there any changes to survive???

Epilepsy can be genetic so I wouldn't recommend breeding from an epileptic dog for this reason

14 is a good age but it's never easy at the end even when you know it's the right decision
Our Pets Health no, but we knew it was than him suffering unnecessarily :) 💛

My dog had a seizure this morning the first big one I’ve seen him do. He does this little thing where he will shut his eyes and lean backwards almost like he passes out for a split second. i don’t know what that means but if he has another one tomorrow I’m 100% taking him to the vet. All I’ve done it cry all day.
I hope he's doing OK now. There are a number of other things that can cause seizures in dogs - th-cam.com/video/Lbqtxhuo9CM/w-d-xo.html
If the dog is younger than 6 months and has a seizure, what could it be? Are there any common conditions that results in seizures while they are puppies?
Our puppy died on Saturday after a seizure, second time she had it, it started with vomits that came suddenly and it escalated to seizures eventually. Took her to the vet, she needed to gain more weight to go through more comprehensive exams… unfortunately there was no time 💔

for younger dogs poisoning, infection, and congenital problems are most likely

Hi, i have female german shepherd 5.5yo .She has started having first seizure 3 mnths back .it is epilepsy.treatment is in continuation..but 2days back she has another seizure after 2 mnths which was 30 to 40 secs long and again after 24 hr of same duration like 30 to 40 sec .. she recovers within minutes after that... but it is scary... can u suggest what else i can do to help her?
check in with your vet as it may be that the dose needs adjusting or a new medication trialed. I hope you find something that works
My dog had seizures 2 months old i think the cause is he fell in the chair and bump his head and every time he eat his getting seizures
If it's linked to eating then it could actually be a problem with his liver, although there are other causes in such a young pup. Really, he need a check up as it sounds like he's really not well
My dog had seizure 3 times tonight and it was scary because I need to wait until tomorrow to bring him to the vet. He doesn’t want to sleep or lay down because whenever he lies down the seizure begins.

i wish I had known about glutamate triggers and the also the benefits of magnesium so i'm here to share with you all. My dog had seizers from meat except wild caught salmon with veg was okay and fruits. If i could go oback i would put her on a fruit diet for a while as per advice from a lady i know who rescues dogs from shelters.
What about CBD?

My greyhound died during a seizure this week. He was 8 1/2 years old. I heard a loud noise and his legs were rigid and neck stretched out. Then screaming. Tongue out, bleeding from mouth. From the moment I heard the seizure till death about 3 minutes.
14 months earlier one night when he was using the bathroom outside he screamed and came inside crashing into everything and appeared blind for the next 6 months. Then vision back.
But I never saw him have a seizure except the very violent one at his death. 😭
I miss him so much.

Check her diet. I was able to figure out that certain foods increase the chances of seizures. Google “dog diet seizure”. In my case I noticed that when I fed her turkey and beans, she would have seizures afterwards. Then I found out that beans and turkey are on the list of foods to avoid! I weeded out all the high risk foods and she’s doing much better.

I have a 2 week bulldog. It looks to me like if he has seizures. He foams, urinates and poop. That’s the only time he goes to the bathroom. He does this for about 1 min the longest. The vet said they can’t do Nothing cause he is too small please help
these are the possible causes of seizures - th-cam.com/video/Lbqtxhuo9CM/w-d-xo.html
In a very young dog I'd mainly be worried about low blood glucose, toxins and a congenital problem. It's definitely not easy to look into this in a dog so young but I'd suggest trying to find another vet who can help you. It might be there is little that they can do if blood results are all normal and referral isn't an option, but your options or the most likely diagnosis should be discussed.
good luck
