    Sharing this is getting me immense pain and my heart is literally getting tear apart that my doll Kristee 14 yrs old passed away last saturday 16th July left my heart and soul wounded for life. I lost my precious stone. Knowing the fact I won't be able to see the most beautiful charming face ever in my life just wrenches my heart . I have no idea how my life would be after her. My days just started with her and ends with her.

    What causes myoclonic seizures in dogs? My darling Ben started having them, but they became more frequent and the last one lasted over two hours. It was devastating to watch and finally I decided it was time to help him. It was the toughest decision I have ever had to make. I found giving him a small amount of cannabis butter helped initially, but the frequency of seizures escalated very quickly. Then it was time to visit our vet. This was over four years ago, but I still cry when I think of it. PS Ben was 15 years 6 months old. A Yorkie x Daxie.

    Just got a AKC registered pomeranian pup my 4th pom. He is 14 weeks old and ad a seizure. I lasted about a minute and recovered in about 10 minutes. I first thought he got bite by a rattlesnake or copperhead since I was rattlesnake bit myself in April. I could find a snake and saw no obvious bite area. He was barking and couldn't control his movement. I have a vet appointment in the morning. Hope this isn't something he needs long term care for my oldest pomeranian was on expensive medicine for over ten years for heart issues.

    A few months before seizures I took him to vet because he kept shaking his head like “no” and he was treated for beginning of an ear infection.
    My dog started having seizures two months ago and is on like number 7 and is currently on phenobarbital. 2.5 year old Labrador
    All have been while he is asleep.
    First seizure I saw was just days after I tested negative from having Covid.
    I haven’t found a vet yet that doesn’t treat me like a cash cow.
    Vet said we didn’t find anything in bloodwork here’s some pills and an mri would cost thousands to find out if he has a tumor. Now pay almost $300

He can be sleeping on the floor then stand up walk somewhere then ends up loosing all control of his balance he acts like hes constantly falling over and Hitting his head and face on things. My dog is having full body shivers, appears scared, and can't walk for short bouts. 3rd time it's happened in 2 months. The 1st time lasted a minute. 2nd time was a solid 10 minutes. The one tonight lasted just 1 minute but the shivering was way worse. I saw dog epilepsy videos online it and it doesn't look like a full blown seizure cause my dog doesnt have that "locked up" look. 2 vets sent me home with no answers after he did it a 2nd time. Idk what to do at this point.

    I have a 20 yr old pomeranian that's been having episodes, as we call it. Not sure if it's a seizure or not. Yes, we see the vet regularly and because of this we've made end of life arrangements but can someone please tell me what is happening to her. I just want an answer besides " an episode " please help....so this is what happens, she gets a little antsy & wanders around the house then stops. Looses all ability to stand. Falls to the ground and lets out a double bark ( everytime but doesn't do this any other time) lays down chin up stops breathing, ive brought her back with cpr 10 times in the past month. She's really tired afterwards but within 20 minutes she's up & acting like nothing happened. Can someone please tell me what's happening? I've done everything to save her but these are getting closer & closer together. I'm forced to ask here because I've been searching the internet with no luck. Please help.

    Seizure-like episodes had us concerned with our 7-year old Rotty/Chow-Chow mix last summer. After 4 episodes in 7 months, we looked at the fact that he was gaining weight and his coat looked horrible. After a lot of research, we asked the vet to do a thyroid panel on our boy. Yep, hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism can present with vertigo, balance problems, and loss of coordination in humans (not frequently), so why not dogs. DO NOT discount what is here in this video, as it is great information and quite relevant. However, do not rule out a thyroid panel test. The thyroid controls so much in the body of mammals. As for our pooch, one year later, his coat is as thick and as rich as it was when he was 2-years of age, he is back to his normal weight of 97 lbs., and he has not had a seizure-like episode since beginning his thyroid treatment.

    • @SEVNeurology
      @SEVNeurology  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hypothyroidism occasionally can cause episodes. I most “commonly” see it associated with vestibular disease (balance problems). It is uncommon but needs to be on the vet’s list of possible causes. The thing to be careful of is that hypothyroidism is very common, but it actually being the cause is uncommon. So one shouldn’t always assume finding hypothyroidism is a dog with seizures is the cause.

      Typically there is no “cure” for seizures, but it all depends on the underlying reason for the seizures. For example, if the seizures are due to a toxin, removing the toxin can “cure” the seizures. But causes such as epilepsy or tumors typically can’t be cured. They can be managed to make them as unlikely or as mild as possible.

But last night she started doing it and then went into a very scary convulsion and started peeing and shaking, breathing very heavily and running on her side. It lasted maybe 2 minutes and slowly came out of it. We took her outside and when she came back in she drank a full bowl of water. I am kinda starting to think it may be the blood sugar issue because she doesn't seem to eat all that much, and we have tried her on multiple dog foods.
