Great video! @EvanAndKatelyn idk if anyone else has gone as far as I have with this but it’s well established that you can resin 3d print custom stamps, but after curing I found great success with spraying my newly printed stamp with a protective coating followed by rubberized PLASTI-DIP. We’d love to see you print custom stamps and prep them in this manner for bleach stamping.
I can see the Joob paw print rollingpin style stamp now.

The rubber stamp examples you showed were all thin outline ones, so bleach could get trapped more in the recesses and seep down to the tip of the line, so the thicker stamps may not work the same
Exactly what i thought while watching, surface tension will hold bleach on a narrow surface, but not on a whole flat hydrophobic surface

FYI for those in the comments, because the stream is long done, if you use scented bleach, it will not affect fabrics in the same way that normal bleach will for these type of crafts. I learned that the hard way running a bleach craft program at the library.

If you haven't yet, look into gel bleach. They might work better with the foam too. I'm thinking if you paint it on the surface of the foam stamps, then press it in, it might give it better coverage.

It's also usually an actual stamp pad of bleach, not a tray of bleach. I remember having been using bleach to reverse dye things since the 80s. Sponges work with a tray, stamps need quick pressure on a stamp pad and immediate application on the project.
If they just want the effect, Jacquard color remover is a lot easier to work with and is like $8 for a pretty decent jar. It comes out whiter than bleach does.
There is nothing in this world that can make me want to destroy things in my home on a Monday morning like Evan and Katelyn chaos....and I love it 🙃
we love the live communication and planning, it really helps me do my mundane tasks with a little more human company if that makes sense. i need to do laundry today too. the uncut streams just have that hangout feel we all need
My favorite way to do bleach effect is with a stencil cut from freezer paper and ironed onto the fabric. Freezer paper has a thin layer of plastic on one side so it will bond with the fabric giving you a very crisp image but it can be peeled off or soaked off when you are done.

Also for those who may not know, bleach does lose its effectiveness a while after being opened, i learned this since i make my own diy clorox "anywhere spray" so i started only buying in the small bottles (unless you use it often enough). Also once you open it, write the date on the bottle so you know when to replace it ❤
What is your recommended time past opening? I do the same and noticed the effectiveness lowering as well.

@@ohdearohno802 While as they say in the video, bleach deteriorates in the bottle as well, from my chemistry knowledge, exposure to air should affect it more (chemical reactions will slowly make the chlorine evaporate, ant that is the active ingredient in bleach), so somewhat like fizzy drinks or hydrogen peroxide, how long you keep it open, how much light exposure it gets and the temperature at which you store it, can prolong or reduce its life

My favorite part of every Uncut is the slow descent into madness.
I kind of want to see you try screen printing/silk-screening or batik with bleach or other compounds. Silk-screening is like the stencils. but layers, and batik would use some hydrophobic compound (wax is traditional, and don't you have a LOT of wax?) to make lines and keep dye inside certain areas. I don't know how well it works with bleach, but might be fun!

Bleach = By the way, there are "Color Safe" & "Bleach Safe" clothing that is purposely made to NOT Fade or "warp" in color when bleached. This allows for the garment to get especially dirty, but still be cleaned well & come out the same bright color as before. There's also "color safe bleach" that allows you to use the bleach without... Well, "Bleaching" or lessening the colors in cloth/clothing (which is exactly what y'all are trying to do).
(I also have heard that there are certain "Flame Retardant" fabrics, Usually in Kids Clothing, etc. that supposedly won't bleach because of the extreme chemicals put into them.)
So yeah, that's the info. I have & I hope it helps. 🤷🏼♀️‼️🤷🏼♀️
Also, Bleach is a Base & it eats away the top layer of your skin letting the thin fat layer be exposed. **THAT'S** the Slick feeling you get when you get your fingers in bleach, your actually feeling your own body's fat basically liquifying. (& Also very much why you DON'T want to keep your skin/self in liquid bleach for an extended period of time.) Or that's what my College Science Professor told us one day, can't even recall how we got onto that subject. But there was a TON of Randm stuff we were taught that was so *Obvious* & just everyday knowledge to HIM that he was Shocked we didn't know. 🤷🏼♀️‼️So yeah.🤷🏼♀️ (Now that I say that I would LOVE to hear you to's, especially Evan's tales, about any odd or quirky college professors that he, or either of you had. 😁😅❓🤷🏼♀️‼️😁)
not quite true about the skin.
there isn’t fat in the first few layers of skin. fat is under the skin and fascia.
1:54:34 for thicker bleach, maybe try the no/low splash bleach if you ever decide to do bleachy experiments again. It’s deff thicker than reg bleach.
These do have a lower concentration of bleach, but that doesn’t mean it won’t work, I’m just not sure on the effectiveness.

Also, if nobody mentioned it- peroxide deteriorates quickly when left out uncovered or that's what the dr taught me and I used to use peroxide and heat to bleach my hair. Would that also work on fabric?

I keep saying that crafting is all one big experiment. You just keep trying things until you find methods, techniques, or color combos you like. When we watch videos or look at blogs, they’ve done all the experimenting off camera. So it looks like they knew what they were doing on the first try, but it’s not true. We just don’t get to see behind the scenes. So this is fun seeing how things don’t always go as planned.

With rubber stamps its best when they are outlines of a shape instead of full rubber shape 🎉 hope that helps

Uv would help neutralize bleach. Its light sensitive like peroxide is. That's why the bottles are opaque.

32:38 I’ve only made it this far, so I may see some of these solutions later in the video. But with the rubber stamps you said they just poured bleach and then used the rubber stamps. Bleach does have a very different (and thicker) viscosity than water. So not doing 50/50 may be a solution to a lot of the problems. And I think that sanding the surface could be a deff possibility for the foam stamps to increase their absorbability.

definitely want thicker bleach, here in the UK you can get watery, gel and an inbetween viscosity.
With the letter stamps (and any other), once you know where excess bleach/ink/etc. is, you can take an exacto knife and cut the background down so there is less chance for 'oops' moments. You can also 'edit' any rubber stamps to make them more personalized,
My cats would be licking the plastic on the floor! Lol they loved licking plastic for some odd a** reason. I love how Katelyn is doing the “jiggle” with joob like she’s a fussy baby. If you did this in the sun the reaction would happen a lot faster

To save on materials you could always use the backs of failed ones (like the pig stomach shirt) as testers. Try out the new methods on the junky shirt to see if they work, and if it's promising go for it on the new item
Pre-washing is to bleach as leveling is to resin, very important and most easily forgotten. 😁
Just starting watching and can't wait to see what happens! I tried this once and used contact paper. Worked great! One hint is to use light spray but several times so it doesn't soak under the pattern.

Fun fact cats are attracted to bleach, it often makes them curious and want to play, (my kitty loved it. )But has had studies about bleach and utis in cats being a common factor. My kitty had uterine issues after a spay but she always went for bleach high and ended up making her bladder struggle.
Bleach can be very impactful on the bladder of any cat, fumes included. I love seeing joob in videos but I would keep her away from fumes and all if you can. Love this video though. You guys are my favorite.

They also have bleach pens. I wonder if writing with them would look cool. Also, I had that same bottle of bleach, diluted it and shook it and I'd were old, my black plants would have little orange spots all over them within seconds simply because I didn't want to get bleach on them at all.

*Throw a dry towel in with your wet things to hasten dry time. It seems counterintuitive but it works. Also try a spray bottle with hydrogen peroxide to selectively neutralize the bleaching process in places on a project.
I tie-dyed a shirt for my niece and manipulated it to have stripes of white. It turned out so cool I almost kept it fir myself 😂

I have a pair of blue sweatpant type of pants that I literally soaked in a few different types of bleach (each different times) and they have not changed at all

Have you heard of batik? You draw on the fabric with hot wax using special pens. Then you crinkle it up and dye or bleach. Gives you a cool cracked look.

Me and my dad made awesome reverse tie dye shirts that look like Candy Corn. That's what this method is called, Reverse tie dye. Make sense, you kind of doing the opposite of regular tie dye. I love wearing that tie dye shirt ❤ as an expert I say do not buy tie dye from Walmart, tie dye comes in powder and wear a respirator mask. They stand out ALOT. They last a very long time unless the Wal-Mart brand Highly suggest to try it out for yourself, Evan and Katelyn. Somehow I made an awesome spider looking tie dye shirt and it's awesome too.

From the quickness of the reaction from the example video you showed, I'm inclined to think they were using "professional" (sometimes called outdoor, like for decks) strength bleach. When i've worked with it in the past, it showed a much faster reaction time.
Yeah, a freshly bought bottle, and do not mix the bleach with water until you poor them in the little tub.
