As a Texan who can no longer afford to move back to their home state because of the California transplants like Miya Higa, Joe Rogan and every other Internet personality moving to Austin, I’m extremely disappointed to see my favorite TH-cam couple collaborate with the problem. Now, I care for the animals and the planet so I’m happy to see this is at least a fundraiser, but let’s face it. Most of Miya Higa content online is NOT about animals or conservation, so I think I’ll actually be taking a break from watching my besties E&K for a while. This just really sucked the joy out of my favorite channel for a bit. What a bummer.

I haven’t watched a ton of Maya’s streams with other TH-camrs but of the ones I’ve seen I’ve never seen other TH-camrs as curious and ask nearly as many questions as E&K. It’s so sweet and wholesome and they show such genuine interest.
Miya is a disgusting human being who defends SA and animal abusers. There are so many other animal enthusiasts on TH-cam you can support without supporting disgusting people like Miya and her friends/boyfriends.
E&K are naturally inquisitive and creative people, as well as animal lovers and cat owners, so this was a perfect collab! Maya's goofier interactions with streamers from the other side of Twitch are hilarious and fun to watch, but it's so informative and wholesome to see her have actual conversations and answer meaningful questions that allow her to show her knowledge.

just subbed! this is my favorite collab and i don’t even know these people. they were both so nice along with their community. it is so refreshing to see people fully pay attention to maya and be so respectful towards the animals.
Evan and Kaitlyn are always this amazing, they are so cute and a little chaotic and they do gameplay and crafting videos, and have like 5+ channels for all the different things they do, so f.x. if you don't want gameplay don't sub to the gaming channel and you won't have any. I love them a lot, they're probably some of my absolute favourite humans, not just creators/TH-camrs🥰
Evan and Katelyn are my favorite TH-camrs. They make a lot of stuff. Maybe you'd like the videos where they make stuff for their cat, Joob. The catio one is great, they've also made toys and furniture and a car LOL It's so great too, because they're so patient with Joob. They never force her to do anything. They'll sit there for hours (or weeks with the car) trying to convince her to try what they made here LOL They are pure wholesome.
I think the laser cutter is an excellent idea, so the staff can make hideys for the smaller animals and enrichment for the larger ones. Especially the parrots!
Thank you SO much for breaking it up into chapters by animal!! I’m sensitive to seeing certain creatures and it was very helpful to be able to quickly skip past them.
Hope someday you can give those animals a chance too. They're ambassadors because they have something to teach us. Cockroaches for example are deeply misunderstood as dirty animals, but they're cleaners, they just live in dirty places because it's their food. They do the same job as isopods (like Marty!) None of the animals are shown for shock value, just to help people understand them and in some cases conquer their fears. Hope you enjoyed the rest of it anyway, I love all of the Alveus ambassadors, and have grown to appreciate even the ones that seemed scary to me at first. Thanks for supporting them anyways!

Nice catch on the non-faceted eyes on Barbara. Hissers are one of very few insects that don't have faceted eyes. Their eyes are very similar to mammalian eyes. They also have three extra eyes that can detect light, but you can't see them, they're too small.

Been following Maya and alveus for years, and I’m so excited that she introduced me to y’all! love when collabs are so engaged and excited about the animals/ learning and not just the content side of it. I’ve never seen this level of prep from a collaborator, Maya usually does all the work!
About the tropical animals, specially brazilian ones: it's illegal in Brazil to capture and trade them as pets. It baffles me that it is legal in the US because that means those traders would be part of illegal capture in the wild... but hopefully this video and their work can reach lot's of people who will research more on the topic and continue to pass awareness...
People breed those tropical birds in captivity now. So, while the original ones who smuggled illegally, most of the tropical birds that are around in the states have been bred here. All of those parrots were likely bred in captivity.

It's so nice seeing everybody be smart and inquisitive and I can see you thinking through things both when it comes to needle felting logistics and also just animal features and what those features (like a fluffy tail!) might serve as a purpose for the animal. 1:08:36 I have a grey and I absolutely adore his tiny little stinkin butt, I tell everyone that asks not to get a grey. don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t trade him for the world but my parents got him a few years before I was born and it’s possible we’ll live about the same time so I have a forever brother bird bestie. birds are expensive, there’s only three aviarist vet offices that I know of in our country (UK), and he is incredibly needy and social, and as maya said destructive, he absolutely adores chewing the wall and shoes lol, so much so that he tells himself off when he does chew “stop eating wall Jambo” he’s awesome but a huge investment in both time and money. They’re also so often rehomed as someone passed or they can’t be taken care of anymore, regularly going through 3+ homes as they outlive their humans.
i loved this collab. E&K are so respectful and friendly and open to all of the animals and ask so many insightful questions. Maya seemed alot like she enjoyed educating E&K more than she did with the twitch streamers that try to be funny. she seemed more comfortable around them and the animals DEFINITELY seemed more comfortable with E&K around. there are so many streamers that i have watched take a tour with Maya and i haven't seen this positive and comfortable behavior in everyone since Jayden and Alpharad visited.
When you asked what the big bumps behind Georgie's eyes are and Maya replied "that's just part of his head", she didn't give the whole story there. Those are called paratoid glands. They're used as a defense mechanism and they secrete foul tasting/smelling chemicals when a frog is threatened.

I think if you made some like, maybe wire and felted around you could do the spindly parts for Tortellini with some added structure to the felt if you made an entire skeleton. Just a thought from somebody who watches a lot of clay making channels EDIT: I got to the pipe cleaners part, yeah I think you could just remove the fuzz or use some even finer wire if the pipe cleaners or wires are too thick.

Nice catch on the non-faceted eyes on Barbara. Hissers are one of very few insects that don't have faceted eyes. Their eyes are very similar to mammalian eyes.
They also have three extra eyes that can detect light, but you can't see them, they're too small.

Been following Maya and alveus for years, and I’m so excited that she introduced me to y’all! love when collabs are so engaged and excited about the animals/ learning and not just the content side of it. I’ve never seen this level of prep from a collaborator, Maya usually does all the work!

About the tropical animals, specially brazilian ones: it's illegal in Brazil to capture and trade them as pets. It baffles me that it is legal in the US because that means those traders would be part of illegal capture in the wild... but hopefully this video and their work can reach lot's of people who will research more on the topic and continue to pass awareness...
People breed those tropical birds in captivity now. So, while the original ones who smuggled illegally, most of the tropical birds that are around in the states have been bred here. All of those parrots were likely bred in captivity.

I loved this. I think this is up there with Julien's collab as one of my favorite Alveus collabs ever. I already followed both you and Alveus/Maya separately but seeing you all together is a DELIGHT. It's so nice seeing everybody be smart and inquisitive and I can see you thinking through things both when it comes to needle felting logistics and also just animal features and what those features (like a fluffy tail!) might serve as a purpose for the animal. This was so good. SO GOOD. YAY

1:08:36 I have a grey and I absolutely adore his tiny little stinkin butt, I tell everyone that asks not to get a grey. don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t trade him for the world but my parents got him a few years before I was born and it’s possible we’ll live about the same time so I have a forever brother bird bestie. birds are expensive, there’s only three aviarist vet offices that I know of in our country (UK), and he is incredibly needy and social, and as maya said destructive, he absolutely adores chewing the wall and shoes lol, so much so that he tells himself off when he does chew “stop eating wall Jambo” he’s awesome but a huge investment in both time and money. They’re also so often rehomed as someone passed or they can’t be taken care of anymore, regularly going through 3+ homes as they outlive their humans.

i loved this collab. E&K are so respectful and friendly and open to all of the animals and ask so many insightful questions. Maya seemed alot like she enjoyed educating E&K more than she did with the twitch streamers that try to be funny. she seemed more comfortable around them and the animals DEFINITELY seemed more comfortable with E&K around.
there are so many streamers that i have watched take a tour with Maya and i haven't seen this positive and comfortable behavior in everyone since Jayden and Alpharad visited.

When you asked what the big bumps behind Georgie's eyes are and Maya replied "that's just part of his head", she didn't give the whole story there. Those are called paratoid glands. They're used as a defense mechanism and they secrete foul tasting/smelling chemicals when a frog is threatened.

I think if you made some like, maybe wire and felted around you could do the spindly parts for Tortellini with some added structure to the felt if you made an entire skeleton. Just a thought from somebody who watches a lot of clay making channels
EDIT: I got to the pipe cleaners part, yeah I think you could just remove the fuzz or use some even finer wire if the pipe cleaners or wires are too thick.
You should look into felter's wax, especially if you want more thin or hard edge details in your felting projects.
