- When a patient has been left long over due a check Dr Reese notices major complications with his brain and has to act fast.

Still dealing with the fallout of his DNR patient, Dr. Halstead tries to organize a baptism for Dr. Manning's son. April befriends the father of a patient who was rushed in for swallowing magnets. Reese performs a procedure for which she's not qualified on a patient while awaiting the results of her residency match and Dr. Charles diagnoses a patient with a rare disorder when he tries to saw off his own arm.

I like the spirit of Dr choi who owned the responsibility of the situation and helped the student docter though it was a grave mistake ...but it saved the life...because anyways that man had stopped breathing ...so why not a shot of chance ....to revive the patient...
What's illegal is illegal. The reason why people allow student doctors to be in hospitals, for learning purposes. And if they were to do a medical procedure like a surgery, it must be under a senior or one of the doctor's supervision. Basically, student doctors are not allowed to perform surgeries without supervision of an senior or one of the professionals, is simply because if it is done wrongly, causing injury or death, the blame will be on the hospital allowing it to happen. Saved a life or not Dr. Reese and Dr. Choi could've got into trouble. And since Dr. Choi is an active reserve, he could fall into bigger problems. But hey, it's just a show and Dr. Reese did save a life.

I really admire how professional Dr. Choi was, he really took responsibility when Reese was being scolded for doing an operation without a doctor supervision. It’s not illegal if the doctor who is teaching the student gives their consent, right?

There are hospital situations where you have to really compromise on the spot. That's why med students should be prepared when this happens to them
nonono, he needed to be directly supervising her, as in THERE. Technically, if HR/the board finds out, all 3 of them (reese, choi, goodwin) will lose their jobs, maybe even prison time.
It is in fact illegal. A med student does not have a medical degree, and as such is not allowed to do operations on their own, just like any other citizen. With a doctor present, they can be allowed to operate, but only with a doctor present.

Okay so I wasn't really paying attention, but I had my earphone in listening to it in the background. So this came on, and the moment he said "Hey Nurse" I stopped everything I was doing, and was like, "That's Jeff Blim." Lo and behold, it's Jeff Blim! That's how much I love Starkid an dJeff Blim, one gosh darn line on a TV show and only by hearing it I knew.
I love how many times procedures get violated in this hospital... but it almost always ends up working for the best.
Honestly it only makes sense for Dr. Choi to "come to the rescue" so to speak given that he was the one she requested to do the drilling and he blew her off for another patient (even though this one was obviously going to die/massive brain damage if not treated)
Dr reese get picked for everything first she had to break a little girls ribs and now she’s doing a brain procedure

I love how everyone has full faith in Reese in regards to any work they give her so she’ll learn something. Like here, Dr.Choi should have been cautious of letting a student doctor do a procedure like that when it should be an actual doctor to do the job. But because everyone saw how capable and hard-working Reese is to any type of work she’s faced with, he gave his full trust and faith in her
