Being able to help people in their time of need, to give them patience and kindness in their most vulnerable moments, to give them hope of the future, that’s what makes it worth it. I’m less than a year away from graduation, and while I’m nervous to take that step, seeing stuff like this-even if it’s fictional-makes me remember why I chose this path in the first place.

What I see when I go to the ER, are drs. and nurses concentrating on their job, or talking about trivialities sometimes at their work stations to take the pressure off. People suffering waiting for someone to help. There’s a lot of people. They are very attentive when taking care of you, some are more caring than others, but they all do their jobs well. The ambulance people are the best :), but they have one patient and time. At Mount Sinai Hospitals in New York, they are always very busy. It’s nonstop! Sometimes there’s a real emergency and sometimes a guy comes in with handcuffs and the cops. Sometimes there’s old people, once in a while a kid So mostly I see people cleaning the floors, emptying the garbage, taking care of linens, walking purposely around from patient to patient, assistant nurses getting blankets and water. . . It’s really a comfort having the Morningside hospital ER two blocks away. They’re all great, it just doesn’t look like it looks in the scene at the end of the show! :)🌷🌱👩🏻⚕️🧑🏼🔬🔬👨🏾⚕️👨🏽🔬🩻💉🩺🩹
Or just have to remember to look. I'm not in medicine directly but I've worked with doctors. You have to have a hard shell to handle the suffering but that shell can make you hard. Remembering the good you do every day can make all the difference.
