If he was my psychiatrist when I was in hospital I probably would of made a hell of a lot more progress in the time I was there than I did! He is phenomenal at his job!
I’ve read a news article shared to Facebook before about a woman who wanted both her legs gone and she did everything to try and make them bad enough to be amputated and the comments on it was “selfish woman, any wheelchair bound person would love to have their legs” and stuff like that but it isn’t the person’s fault they feel they don’t own a certain limb, it’s how their brain isn’t connected properly.
Even tho this man is severely unhappy with his arm, wouldn't it be better to still have an arm even tho they feel it isn't theirs, rather than not having one at all?
I've heard about this ilness. It's so disturbing. You can even see it on CT scan. Some people even die trying to cut off their legs or arms by themselves
The darkly funny thing is that the patient technically didn't even break his promise. He assured Dr. Charles he wouldn't harm himself, but since he doesn't consider his left arm a part of him, he answered honestly even as he plotted to damage the arm and force an amputation.
Dysphoria is horrible, I had it when I was younger but strangely enough though I found that doing something to it to make it mine helped, for me it was a piercings but a tattoo would probably also help. It would've been nice to see him recover without managing to lose his arm since he still probably has that warped thinking but I guess not every ep can end completely happily
I've tried giving myself a tattoo on my finger in an attempt to make it my own, but nothing I've tried has worked. So when I see my nurse practitioner in a week I'm going to finally tell her about my BIID and maybe we can talk amputation instead of me hurting myself to force an amputation.

He is also an actor THIS IS NOT REAL
@@james2443 Your point?
This is a known disorder - where people have always felt that they have an extra limb that doesn't belong.
“A mystic will say that we’re all one big soup” 😂😂 idk why but that line gets me every time
Am I the only one laughing at dc.troy just rolling on the guy 6:49
DC.choi*
Dr. Choi*
Notice how at one point he says "cut off MY arm." That's just lazy writing.
Not lazy writing. Even if he doesn't feel like it's his arm, we humans are used to first person language. So saying "my arm" is instinctual or habit
Maybe "cut off this arm"
LaZy WrItInG- ok expert, how dare somebody make a mistake lmao
Dr Charles is so kind to others he deserves more nice by his patients poor Dr Charles
I knew he was going to do it as soon as Dr Charles pulled up the cover
the fact dr. choi was just riding on the bed
Imagine if you just woke up one day, looked at your arm or leg or another part of your body and thought "Wait... That's not mine •-•"
dr. charles " we will talk later
pateint" i want it off!
This reminds me of an episode of greys anatomy when the patient wanted to cut his foot off cause it ‘didn’t’ belong to him
Sounds like the same condition to me
Imagine if the guy said "I want my arm back" after all this lol
So sorry for doctor Charles for a pint kind
0:04 ''That guy's crazy :D''
That comment was so inappropriate and insensitive it’s sad
Unfortunately most people with this condition eventually begin to feel as if another part of their body is "foreign". Not really a happy ending.
I've seen documentaries with stuff like this, it's really sad, there was this really young boy, like 12 of something that wanted his leg cut off
I’ve read a news article shared to Facebook before about a woman who wanted both her legs gone and she did everything to try and make them bad enough to be amputated and the comments on it was “selfish woman, any wheelchair bound person would love to have their legs” and stuff like that but it isn’t the person’s fault they feel they don’t own a certain limb, it’s how their brain isn’t connected properly.
Only thing I'm confused about is how he got out of his restraints? Aren't they supposed to stop things like that happening?
Dr. Charles kinda looks like Hagrid in Harry Potter
Agree?
MusicGirl101 #VbJordyn nah
Dumbledore
No he looks like Henry J Waterlnoos from monster inc
YEP BUT WITHOUT BEARD AND the clothes are different too
MusicGirl101 #VbJordyn no
I thought this was going to be like 'Unwind' but this will do too
Poor guy😕
Edit: That yawn was so fake tho...
Ivy. H yeah he was meant to be faking it
It's acting
Ivy. H Sad the psychiatrist fell for it..
I yawned while reading that
He did fake it so the doc would leave the room
Even tho this man is severely unhappy with his arm, wouldn't it be better to still have an arm even tho they feel it isn't theirs, rather than not having one at all?
The majority of cases end up having another part of their body take it's place.

Interesting, didn't know that
I've heard about this ilness. It's so disturbing. You can even see it on CT scan. Some people even die trying to cut off their legs or arms by themselves
This is so weird, i would rather have a strangers arm than no arm at all!!
Fair enough, but I don’t think you understand the patient . He didn’t feel comfortable in that arm.
6:50 anyone notice that he was sitting on the moving bed?!?
The darkly funny thing is that the patient technically didn't even break his promise. He assured Dr. Charles he wouldn't harm himself, but since he doesn't consider his left arm a part of him, he answered honestly even as he plotted to damage the arm and force an amputation.
I'm amazed that Dr. Choi said that he got played
when he takes his arm off and hes happy its so sad cause to quote the doctor it is a happy ending for him
Dysphoria is horrible, I had it when I was younger but strangely enough though I found that doing something to it to make it mine helped, for me it was a piercings but a tattoo would probably also help.
Gives me the chills everytime
I wish I could watch this show in full episodes
Thank you for everything
I just love this whole team. Chicago Med ♥️♥️♥️
I can't believe there are actual people watching this who thought it wasn't actually his arm?!?! R u srs?!? I KNEW ABOUT THE MENTAL CONDITION WHEN I WAS 15!!!
Me:I whant my arm off
.me after realyising:NO I DON'T WHANT MY ARM OFF ITS AMAZING
Someone had to do it “want”
I have Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and quite often my hand doesn’t look like my own. Thankfully the feeling (and the look) passes with medication and therapy. What a scary feeling though… being convinced a body part does not belong to you.
I like it how he just sat on the bed 😂
Did anyone else started just staring at ur arm?
I feel so sorry for the poor man
Me 2 when i saw his arm covered i was almost in tears 😭
I’ve heard of BIID before, but never really thought much about it. watching this i was so alarmed, like ‘wtf that must be such an awful feeling, i’m so lucky not to feel that way!’ and then i realised i have chest dysphoria lmao
Same ❤️ comes and goes for me though it used to be way worse
“We were able to save it”
Normal people: thank u doctor!
This weird ass guy: *ahw shit*
