Everyone in the comments defending her has no clue how hospitals work - there are protocols with violent patients, you don’t walk around with pepper spray, hell you don’t work in a hospital if you’re that terrified of your patients.
hospital policy doesn’t override the fundamentals of human rights. you can carry a gun in your country on duty but you can’t pepper spray a patient who threatens to attack you?
Why didn't she just say the patient got into her personal space and was very threatening by how close and angry he was and she felt scared and decided to spray him so he didn't hurt her? I feel like that's a fair and responsible explanation, that's what looks like what happened to me.

@@tpwkbeth. this stuff has happened and has gone down as self defence. though, when it happened IRL where the guy tried to sue the doctor after it was shown that the doctor told the patient to back away several times(it was caught on cctv) in doing so any proceeding of the patient continueing to go towards doctor is seen as an act of aggression and pepper spray is seen as a "in means" self defence
Saw the spray clip a year ago now the full clip halleluja smh
Fishy same now we know the whole story she had the right to spray him
@@animallover3771 yeah
It’s sweet that Noah called Dr. Charles and was so concerned about Reese
The relationship between dr. Charles and dr. Reese is so beautiful
Honestly I was expecting them to change into full on hazmat suits when dr. Reese asked about the radiation
Good for Dr. Reese for standing up to that guy who came at her. It’s kind of funny when you play the pepper spray scene on 2x speed lol.
He deserved that. He should of backed away when Reese told him to otherwise this wouldn’t of happened. I feel sorry for Reese, it wasn’t her fault, it was the patients! She new what she did, but she didn’t mean to do it
Yes true but we not the right move. She should of call for help. With restraint.
@@kaitlintropper2061 what if he did something to her before the help comes? How's she going to restraint him when she's backed up?
@@mumi2060 she needs to scream for help in this case.
@@mumi2060 very loud so the staff can come over
@@kaitlintropper2061 ah yes and in the 30 seconds he could have stabbed her or hurt her... pepper spray is adaquete self defence in this situation
People don’t realise, a traumatic event can cause this. After she told him to back off he refused she said again back off he refused. Maybe she had a violent childhood and felt the need to do that. It could easily have been a worry he would hit her.
Every patient when a psychiatrist enters a room
Dr Charles: hi I’m Dr Charles I’m a psychiatrist
Patient: oh Wow, a shrink. You think I’m crazy
Dr Charles: I don’t think ur crazy at all
I literally bursted out crying with her because this is what I’m like 🥺
It melts my heart how close Reese and Charles are 😫
She is not paranoid. She totally jus defend herself. As a psychiatrist, it can be hard to stay mentally normal in some circumstances and it's normal to be scared.
this rlly isn’t dr reece’s fault she was just protecting her self
Yeah. Like he was aggressive toward her, and looked like he was going to hit her. And to me it looks like she has a traumatic past.
@@ashp1360 exactly

Dr. Charles is like the humble kind father Sarah never had
I tell myself "just watch one episode"
ONE HOUR LATER.....
"maybe just one more episode"
Everyone in the comments defending her has no clue how hospitals work - there are protocols with violent patients, you don’t walk around with pepper spray, hell you don’t work in a hospital if you’re that terrified of your patients.
It's a tv show. Theres a reason the character was carrying pepper spray
She has pepper spray because she paranoia
hospital policy doesn’t override the fundamentals of human rights. you can carry a gun in your country on duty but you can’t pepper spray a patient who threatens to attack you?
@@rubywhitfield2881 you can't do either you lunatic, and hes of course hospital policy overrides those things.
Ash you really think that subjective hospital policy overrides basic human rights? you’re a fucking moron.
I love Dr Resses. She had a reason to pepper spay the man. She felt unsafe and in a harmful situation
I LOVE DR REESE SHE IS A LEGEND ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I don't know why but I was crying for Dr. Reese 😢💔
This is called self-defense tho....
he wasn't physically attacking her *tho*
@@boskoandjelkovic not yet.... what if he did? Then you have the problem that she did not defend herself....
@@Sandercool99 doctors and nurses aren't allowed to use tools such as pepper spray, since they literally *save lives* , not *possibly blind people*
@@boskoandjelkovic Agree. But in this case things chould have become way worser
@Speaking Truth if they use tools, they'd get fired
Ok, so I’m gonna go and cry forever now.
DR REESE DESERVES SO MUCH FREAKING BETTER
Why didn't she just say the patient got into her personal space and was very threatening by how close and angry he was and she felt scared and decided to spray him so he didn't hurt her? I feel like that's a fair and responsible explanation, that's what looks like what happened to me.
This literally made me cry, I just kinda felt her sadness and confusion.
0:42 did he say “no I’m dead don’t touch me”. ???
Deadly
Dr.Charles honestly has such a calming presence and he is such a good guy to have a little Crisis, Dr. Reese is very lucky that he was there to help her throughout this event. Every time I’ve seen him he’s always just so calm and seems to know what he’s doing seems so sure of himself but not in a way that makes him full of himself is very attentive to the people he’s listening to and he always makes them feel heard, he is literally the blueprint example of what a psychiatrist should be not trying to explain their feelings for himself but he’s letting people explain their own feelings he’s not trying to sugarcoat the feelings and trying to make people stop thinking about them and distracted with other things he is helping those people processes feelings away that’s a wait a psychiatrist should act I definitely don’t have any in my town that are this good😢❤
0:59 that smirk when he said “anyone disagree” 🤣
She did have a reason to do that to him he was going to atakck her

@@isabelleirvine8292 learn to accept, that maybe it was a *Fucking typing error* as it is quite easy to accidentally repeat a letter on the fucking keyboard and she was most likely fucking typing on a fucking phone or tablet.
He came right into her face. That’s unacceptable. Security should have been with her but I get why sometimes there is not one there… oftentimes budget cuts
He wasn't exhibiting any violent tendencies prior to that, no reason to have security with the patient. She panicked because she was severely paranoid, hence why she ended up hurting the patient. That's not acceptable self-defense in that scenario, as a psychiatrist she should know better not to carry a weapon in a hospital.
But she was just doing it for self defence
The job of a shrink is to treat patient in the best way, he could have been mentally ill and she was supposed to use her knowledge to help him. yes she was afraid but if u let this pass then any shrink can attack or hurt their patients and claim self defense or that is was for treatment. yes it was self defence but also she wasnt capable of doing her job and thanks to that the patient got hurt she 100% should definetly be suspended
@@frustotamer6231 Also she came prepared with a pepper spray. Meaning it could have happened to anyone besides a patient. She allowed her fear to get the better of her when she should have spoken to Dr Charles about it and get help. She took matter into her own hands and was not emotionally ready to deal with this patient. Thank God she was only suspended not fired. The writers of Med has her character as being unstable right now
Frust OTAMER Even the best psychiatrist can't do miracles - psychos kill or hurt if they want to, they don't listen. The patient was dangerous and she had no chance.
@@flav2689 Dr Reese put herself in that situation. On many occasions Dr Charles asked her if she was OK and she said yes. She knew what she was going through so go and get help. After her suspension she got the help she needed but this could have been prevented if she had done so before. Don't place Dr Reese as the victim here. She did something very stupid here and eventually she got herself together. Thank God. On a good note though because of what she did they were able to figure out what was the patient's illness
Shalom Israel Yes it was stupid but I also understand the character. That patient could have hurt her real bad. But yes you have a point. She should have said about it. But on the other hand, if she hadn't had the spray, she coudn't defense herself and could have been severely hurt. Or died.
PTSD is awful, it really is. And it can affect you without you even needing to be the victim of the original incident. I would've freaked out in that situation too - I've been cornered like that at work before, and it's absolutely terrifying.
reese gotta be back on season 5, or else all of the viewer will give low rating on Chicago Med series :)

I wish it was available in Netflix so I could watch it!
5:55 he might not have had the intention to attack her, but a person can go from passive-agressive to agressive pretty quickly, so I don't blame doctor Reese for her reaction.
I feel so bad for her though ;-;
I wish I could lean on and cry in Dr Charles arms...
;( she was suspended
Chicago med fire and pd should be on Netflix omg
tbh i dont its dr.Reese's fault no patient should do that to a doctor.
Okay but why didnt she explain herself? She could have just said: he was coming at me, i needed to protect myself. They have cameras in every room
