      Would like to see how far behind the DIY style spools for other reels compare to these primary BFS reels. My 1016 spool (used in a Zillion SV TW) from Aliexpress weighed 8 grams WITH bearing and so far casts great with 8lb Sufix 832 and 7lb leader. Don't fish as many cranks, but it will bomb a 3" Easy Shiner w/ 1/8oz head and a 1/16oz head w/ Bobbby Garland Baby Shad casts pretty well (with Tsurinoya Proflex 2 UL 6'3" rod).

    Looks good. I did record some casting footage of the BF7 + UL king with trout magnets. I'm going to save that footage, and make a video sometime later this year, after I get some some fish catches with it. It was still a bit tricky casting that light bait. I was glad to pick up the xf50 and easily throw some heavier things, like homemade inline spinners and spinner baits ranging from 2-3.5 grams. I ended up taking some line off my xf50 with the 10 pound braid. I think it casts a lot smoother now. I built 2 more tiny homemade spinner baits the other night after losing one in a tree, the same night I recorded the footage. Hate when that shit happens, damn hungry trees.

  • @grandfishing590
    @grandfishing590 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Will you do a 1/8 ounce battle with the aldebaran mgl? The weird thing about the aldebaran mgl 50 is on Shimano’s website it says it has 65 yard capacity of 12 lb while on japan lure shop the 30 size has the 65 meters of 12lb capacity. IDK if the aldebaran mgl 50 is just the the 30 with a letter change or a spool change. I would need to see a aldebaran mgl 50 in person to really tell as online sources seem inaccurate.

    • @grandfishing590
      @grandfishing590 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The reason I’m asking is because for my spinning I decided to get a Tatula lt reel which the drag doesn’t seem to work properly. A example is when the reel is under pressure from a fish I can increase the drag, but not lower unless there is no tension then the drag a I lowered comes into play. This will probably screw my over at some point (especially when I fish the river near me) and I’d rather have a baitcaster then a spinning reel. So I’m thinking about getting the baitcaster like the aldebaran 30 mgl for the application. That I would cover otherwise with the spinning gear. Mainly small 4 inch swimbaits killer for smallies also small bitsy bug jigs are too a good lure.m

    The body of Alphas Air seen more tough and its magnetic brake is easier to adjust while the texture of the scorpion bfs is so plastic feeling . However , I think the FTB system is much more maturity than the Daiwa's brake system (Magforce) for the bait finesse . So I do choose scorpion bfs . Besides the initial speed of scorpion for light lure is better than Alphas Air.

      Talking a few feet, probably need to try both and find out which "fishes" best. I have bought more Shimano's over the years, they are just "different". For sure not better and for sure not worse. That free casting THE REEL TEST speaks of can wreck some people's casting, that is why some love the SV/AIR brake style braking systems. I have Daiwa's where I wish I had Shimano's for distance, and I am primarily a Daiwa reel user.

      Only when you put the reel to some real fishing test. Like fishing for big salmons or Steelheads, fish that peel out drag and run for awhile, then you will see which reel is stronger in term of drag consistency, power and rigidity. If casting alone then maybe Shimano is a distance winner, what about all other aspects of the reel? Like ease of casting and cast control break setting? Drag and rigidity, strong frame and no play in handle. You guys can all love shimano, but Daiwa made in Japan reels are for me.
