Can you please review the chapter that came out today along with this. It’s literally the best chapter in the series Hands Down!!! 7:30 I actually like this one A WHOLE LOT more.
I love how the anime made it more obvious how Arima and Akane in this play is being given unfamiliar and opposite roles as a means to improve. Akane, who normally excels in pure acting has to learn to adapt. Arima, who has learnt to be very adaptable, is being tested on pure acting skills.
On the other hand, though, if you look just character-wise and not acting/role-wise, they are basically playing themselves. Akane's is a meek introspective one that was forced to become someone else to be used by the plot (yeah, Aqua, does that ring a bell? 😂) and Kana's is energetic and takes center stage if given the chance.
The first three minutes served two narrative purposes: the first was to introduced the basic plot of Tokyo Blade and its characters, the other was to visually show was is a stage play, I think there is a part in the manga just before chapter 41 where they were explaining what a 2.5D stage play is and the anime production decided that it would be better to show what is a 2.5D stage play instead of explaining what it is while giving us an artistic performance. I cannot applaud them more than I already am for this creative choice.
Ep1 felt like it's a documentary style perspective of each character. I love it! plus the color splashes are incredible. the colouring, ambiance and atmosphere really felt like they are just doing rehearsals but when Tsugumi(?) steps in acting with Kana, it's gorgeous
The half Kana - half Tsurugi shows that she is half assing her acting while Himekawa in full Blade-mode flashing in Kana's eyes is a perfect symbolism.
SOMETHING NO ONE IS MENTIONING THAT WASNT IN THE MANGA! the scene where Akane places the jigsaw puzzle pieces as she's talking. it's a cool visual that livens up what could've been ''info dumping''. stellar art direction. the creativity with this project is looking great so far
My favorite part of the new OP is BRILLIANT ART DIRECTION, where Aqua and Ruby remove their faces as "masks" to reveal their past life faces. The symbolism in theatrical imagery is visual storytelling perfection!!
I did not know about 2.5d plays until I read this arc. It was epic and made me appreciate what they do for those productions. Also was happy to learn the adaptation process and loved the mangaka trying work with them etc. It was awesome!
personally i really really love the beginning of the first episode because it felt so immersive, it was like i was in one of the audience seats at the back watching over the heads of dozens of other people :')))
At 5:30 when hes say they are not restricting themselves, hes saying they’re being very creative with the scenes like for instance the kana and taiki acting scene splashing metaphorical paint all over aqua and akane right?
oh well, there is this channel called psyculturist, is psychologist react to anime and this dude have done 7 hour break down of oshi no ko opening last year
A manga can still have all of that the art style can play into that. A good artist can draw the facial expressions in ways that it works just as well as an anime and even better so at times in my opinion. However there are rare occasions where an anime does do better than a manga this is a rare situation.
Phenomenal series. I’m glad I held off reading the manga past the Tokyo Blade Arc. It was so good that I patiently wanted to see it in animated form and they are knocking it out of the park! The opening is fantastic. Aqua with Gorou’s glasses was nice! Was not expecting to see Abiko show up in the first episode but I’m glad she did. I’m glad you compared Abiko to Oda. Great comparison.
This is why i love this series. you can feel the passion and love of everyone making this show but i think a lot of credit has to go to Hirayama Kanna, the character design and chief animation director. Her work is just nothing short of perfection. of course, not taking anything away from the other people like Hiramaki Daisuke the main director and Nekotomi Ciao, the assistant director (who also directed Alya-san's opening btw)
The craziest part is at this point I can see one frame of an anime and know its Kanna Hirayama ... I dont want to discredit all the other amazing artists but she is just build different especially her eye design
At 4:52, when he says "manga version equivalent" hes saying that the image displayed in the stage play on the left was shown from Tokyo Blade or was it shown from the manga of Oshi No Ko, like was that frame on the left directly taken from the manga into the anime as a nice little cameo? Please answer my question
The best anime adaptations are the ones that recognize the own media they're adapting to Oshi no Ko is one of them, and not only that but they're now taking the chance to rise the series to an unimagined level Season 1 used the media to take the idea to their limits, but Season 2 is surpassing the idea
Even tho I dropped the manga like half an year ago, and not th8nking of picking it up again, this shi is still absolute heat 🔥🔥. Shoutouts to the studio man they cooked with this new season.
What? people might think the beginning is lazy? I hope not. cinematogrophy wise it was brilliant. It made you feel like someone sitting in the audiance, watching this stage play unfold before you. Everything looked so realstic like how the show would really look like. it was gorgeous!
Oshi no ko drawing was basically just eyes. Other parts of a characters and surrounding is just poorly drawed in paint. But second season. It just did it dirty. That scene when Kana and Himekawa are basically swinging the scenario and painting the surrounding is SO GOOD. And its only the first episode! I hope that Dogakobo will continue in the same pace. Or most of the people will leave after the first episode... again
I love the last part of the episode when the mangaka of Tokyo Blade say's "zenbun" . That really gives me chills which the Oshi no Ko manga didn't gave me that impression when I read that part.
When it comes to Aka Akasaka mangas being turned to anime like this and Love is War you do notice how good the animation is after each season. The studios really put in a lot of time and effort and the viewers set that.
The one thing I love about how Oshi no Ko has been getting adapted is how it brings the scenes from the manga to life. And sure, obviously there's the idol aspect of Ruby with there being music; but there's also Aqua's side where he's an actor not because he wanted to be, but to dig out his mother's killer. But in Aqua's side, you get to see things in details that normally wouldn't come to life from manga panels. Usually there'd be extra story content that expands the story even further or filler content to reach the episode length of 23 minutes. I love the direction it took with the intro because it's quite immersive. The intro just makes it very clear to us that this arc is focusing on a famous manga's stage adaptation and even hints at it in the early rehearsals of the play. I'm probably just yapping about this, but if we get more anime that bridges the concept of plays or filmmaking, this is the best example of how it's done right!
I think you're short cutting manga a little bit saying the only thing I can have is beautiful art. Page composition and panelling make a big difference
Hyped for this arc! This is one of those arcs that would especially benefit from seeing everything in motion compared to the still panels of the manga.
4:33 Strong parrellels with Oshi No Ko's anime being an adaptation of a manga... it's like they're simultaneously adapting Oshi No Ko into a screen play aswell! Or another kind of play? Hmmm... or are they adapting the screen play in the manga, to a painting, in the anime? Sorry, just a bit of random speculation here! 11:53 Cough cough, the classroom of the elite and the main protag just being monotone as a pose to expressing and emoting himself in the manner he does in the light novel... I feel like honestly they did have enough time to do it, but decided not to, perhaps due to a creative decision or something. 15:14 L she's the author? I totally missed that in the show. I legit just thought she was a reincarnation of -
Just gotta drop that s2 ending..there's something so off and creepy about it (genuinely love it btw) but..damn i can't wait for what's...gonna happen (only thing unfortunately i got spoiled regarding Ruby)..
I expected crazyness from what we got from the trailer, but DAYUM I was still not ready for that. I clenched my stuff with that cliffhanger, HOLY. 😂 What a wild thing to say 😅 Also: that foreshadow/shade on Akane was acid 😂
i didnt really like the tokyo blade arc when i read it in the manga and honestly i felt it almost dragged on longer than it needed but i might change opinion as when i think about it, this arc fits much better or even perfectly made for an anime than for how it worked in the manga
Doga Kobo: We will do Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night, Oshi no Ko, and Roshidere in two seasons. Everyone, if you have family, call them to let them know you will see them in a year's time.🤣
I am looking forward to the moment when Melt shines. In all, this season will be a character study with just a few morsels towards the revenge path. I have a felling the ending credits shows right where this season will end.
I miss how the ending theme would cut in from that final scene. After this I watched the episode when Akane came back to the dating show and Aqua’s shocked look when she closed and opened her eyes and looked like Ai. So good. Wish they could use that segue music to transition to the ending credits.
They should make a game for Tokyo Blade like Paper Mario where the audience is present and you play the combat on the stage and going through the entire story for said audience.
I agree that animation, music, and the visuals were ramped up. I read the Manga and got caught up, but I think it was not a great start. I paused several times because I got bored. This arc is really one of my favorites, but this just didn’t hit right.
Its unreal man....
Japan is unreal indeed
ayo chibi have you checked out what's on the sushi plate in chainsawman
Japan's been unreal bro..
It's so freakin good, looking forward on what more will they do for this adaptation for the future scenes =v=

Of course since anime has more creative medium take like in the manga

Well… unlucky of me that has poor eyesight being at the very back.
I liked the opening animation better, but Idol is still the GOAT.
So goated Dio and everyone else sang it
Ngl I teared up with the color-splashing scene. I had to pause and rewind it because of how great the animation and art was

oh well, there is this channel called psyculturist, is psychologist react to anime and this dude have done 7 hour break down of oshi no ko opening last year
This arc is for Akane but to the end Ruby will have the spotlight
one of the most underutilised parts of adaptation is the chance to improve upon the source material
Cuz most of the time it ends up turning the adaption into shit tho rarely it also elevates it like The Boys and Oshi no Ko
Watching this arc getting animated got me thinking how act-age would’ve been with an anime adaptation 😢
iron fan princess arc is still on my mind… it gave me the chills
it is a pity but it’s best to leave Act-Age as it is
