Cool vid mate! I worked on JJK S2 EP21 as 2nd Key artist and, the deadline for that stage was even crazier: For one cut they give me 12 hrs to clean up everything and aply the Animation Director corrections to every single kay frame... and for other one, they give me only 9 hrs. Crazy times but, it worth it

@@Bunaye Thanks mate! I wasn´t able to make a lot of cuts, but it was a fight scene so it was really complex... Actually, some of the cuts were divided into A,B,C parts and given to diferent animators, since we made it at Wednesday and the episode was aired that same weekend

Wow, what an incredible concept for a video. Great work! Even though the mistreatment of animators in Japan is fairly well known, I think it’s hard for most people to visualize. This video serves as a great demonstration of the effects of crunch on studio employees. Not to mention they do all this for dimes. I’d love to see a sequel where you remake this animation without constraints, and then compare the two so the effects are even more apparent.
Well, if you think about it, you worked way harder than a MAPPA animator because you had to animate everything. Typically there is a storyboarder, an inbetweener, a renderer, etc. You did really well for 3 days!

To be fair to you, if you were a Mappa animator, you would just animate. The coloring, compositing, backgrounds etc. would be the job of other departments. It's still an insane work load, the anime industry needs an union. You did such a great job, be careful or they'll find you lol.

now obviously you'd have different people do key animations, storyboards, tweens, backgrounds, compositing, etc, but i still think this illustrates a lot of the issues with a lot the anime industry. a bit too hyper for my tastes but still a great video 👍

Dude i just watched two of your videos back to back, and I gotta say I'm impressed. Recreating a scene in Beserk, and even putting yourself in the shoes of a Mappa animator is crazy.
Bro did MORE than a mappa animator. He did what the entire team would do. Also, idk if you did this or not, but you should use the character design sheets
ive been seeing so many art/anime channels with 5-10k subs making bangers and this was one of them
You should do more content like this like animating ur own scenes but with ur own deadline it would be so cool and fun to watch seeing as im an aspiring animator and how good urs looks so good🎉

Worked like a MAPPA animator for 72 hours:
1. Your coffee now has a PhD in ‘animation fuel’ and your brain’s a mixed-media art installation!
2. You can now interpret complex emotions from a single frame of a twitchy eyebrow!
3. Your sleep schedule’s now a yourth, and your eyeballs have adopted a permanent caffeine glaze!
4. Your only friends are storyboards, and your dreams are in 24 frames per second!
5. Now your sketches have started critiquing your life choices!
This is a good example of work being way more draining when you're trying to learn the stuff you're working on. Having a comic scene referenced to adapt boards from, knowing when and how to use 3d assists-- get that ready!

I think your shots look so bad because Mappa got thousands of animators, and at that point it's hard to make something bad. Get like 2 other people on this, and it should be more accurate.

My only recommendation would have been adding 1-3 frames of animation in between cut 7 and cut 8 to make it look like a more smooth transition but overall pretty good, you earned a sub👍

Seems like a good challenge for practicing deadlines
Before anime on air they have to prepare alot of thing like script, stories board, keyframe etc for serveral month or even a year
But consider how animator in mappa overwork
I think it most likely that they have less less time to prepare or might even have none
I HAD to sub after all that work, bro cooked here fr, and I gotta appreciate spreading awareness of the mistreatment of animators ❤

Honestly speaking you did waaay more than what mappa animators do normally it's not a one man show, so everyone has a team some only do the line art some only Color them, while some do compositing, so it's more of management fault than animators

Keynote, kappa animators are assigned different roles, not everyone does bgs, not everyone does the roughs, not everyone does clean up, not everyone boards, not everyone composites

A single animator would not be working on all aspects of production. Backgrounds, colouring, and compiling would almost certainly be done by different people even in scenarios where the animation is done by single animator.
If you're feeling up for it you could do another experiment of just animation and do the rest work outside of the challenge for a more approximate simulation.
Animators only animate, they don't board colour and background too.
Of course everyone in the chat knows that.

Which is why I switched Majors and Left VSU 💁 Cuz drawing was a passion of mine which I loved doing as a form of relaxation 💯 Having to Pull and All Nighter in the Studio, with a couple other students, to turn in All Projects as Da Final Exam 😮💨 Made me Realize I wasn't built for Dat Life cuz I procrastinated a lot 🤷 So I made a Wise Decision to Switch Majors before I got yeeeeeears into a Major and realizing it wasn't for me 💯
Mappa animators(and almost all other studios) dont do the backgrounds or the colours, so u did well
