One reason ive heard why aeason 2 isnt that popular is perception
A lot of people that watched season 1 did so not because of the story but because of the hook at the end of the first episode, they dont care about the educational aspect of the show nor the characters themselves, they thought it would be as dark as those last 10 minutes
At least thats what ive heard from people that didnt pick up the manga and arent reactors, to them the show is boring when its not focused on finding out who the dad is

I just think that this season doesn’t have much powerhouse anime all together so it’s just kinda dead chill vibes. Like yeah Oshi no ko is great but I’m not dying to keep up with all my weekly’s like I was with JJK, Kaiju, Demon slayer etc.

I'm loving it, it's so damn good, though I waited until 3 ep where up because of the strange start that did not reconnect me to the show and kinda lost me.
It's oshi no ko tho, so I had to give it another go, yo.

As long as they adapt all of the manga with this level of quality I'm happy.
Another important thing to analyze should be the impact it has in Japan. As far as it is doing good in the homeland we should be good.

Nah this seasons been very very good. I don’t think there’s much on social media of it but reviewers and reactors have been loving it from what I’ve seen. Season 1 had very unexpected success for the genre that this show is, most likely because of the 90 minute premiere and the OP song. S2 seems to be overlooked because it’s less about the murder mystery and more about the entertainment industry (Even though I heard this is the best arc of the series).

To be honest, Oshi no Ko wasn't expected to be as popular as it became in Season 1. The hype was largely driven by its fantastic first episode, Aka Akasaka's previous work (Kaguya-sama), and the idol song. However, when the real story began after the prologue in episodes 2 or 3, many people dropped the show because they're simply not interested in the Japanese idol and entertainment industries. That's the main reason why, despite four phenomenal episodes this season, it hasn't captured the attention or hype of Season 1. Sadly, I think this trend will continue in future seasons.

Most Westerners are just dumbed down because of our education system and toxic idiocracy popular culture we have. Thus, most Western anime fans just can't really appreciate great writing. It's extremely popular in Japan.
Look at how popular Boruto is here in the USA. However, most Japanese otakus are very vocal about how it's a huge disappointment after finishing Naruto. Japanese otakus are just smarter than the average American otaku in general IMHO.

I will say though that I liked that we were getting small clues about the father in the beginning of the manga. But I feel like they slowly started straying away from that storyline as the manga went on from this point, and it was SO LONG and it literally feels like we were going nowhere. It literally took us 96 Chapters to even know what heck his name was. And 50 to 56 MORE chapters for Hikaru to finally meet Ruby and Aqua.

Perhaps. If you're a shonen fan going into ONK, this might be your motivation to continue it but it's hard to say if the show set itself up for that and broke its promise to its viewers because it set ALOT of things in the first episode. I guess people just picked the most striking part of episode one and thought that was the whole show, not really understanding that every part of episode one: the characters studies, the showbiz critique, the revenge plot, even the reincarnation elements, are what the story is about and not just one thing in specific.

Glad to see that Goa, Raida and Abiko be able to repair that miscommunication to fix the script. But man, seeing how Akane pieced together Aqua's PTSD to his connections with him and Ruby towards Ai Hoshino was terrifying. She would have been an excellent detective in another world. Though, now with her becoming the first to be aware of Aqua being Ai's son, she's definitely going to be made into his accomplice in the revenge seeking journey by the end of the season

Season 1 Episode 1 and Idol opening blew everyone away bcoz it more or less came out of nowhere with very unique premise and incredibly catchy song. After that with every episode it continued to lose its steam. Yes ep 6 did came close but that's about it. All the other episodes were mostly about industry stuff which is cool and all but the main reason why ppl got hyped for oshi no ko in the first place was Aqua trying to find his dad and taking the revenge. But so far it's mostly put on side so the show can give us facts about how parts of industry works. Like your average anime watcher isn't gonna get excited for a stage play arc.

This episode was just so good in a way that we got more insight into our MC Aqua.
The first epic moment was when the Tokyo Blade author finished the script together with GOA-san.
The second savage moment was when Kana said how the industry get's the child actors to cry. Just unnowingly triggering Aquas PTSD.
Than the third savage moment were the inner PTSD voices of Aqua with the brutal portrayal.
The fourth and last moment that was amazing was when it finally all clicked to Akane. She connected all the dots. And now she knows the biggest secret of our main protagonist duo.

Because the beginning made new fans believe it was going to be a murder/mystery type anime, and its far from that currently. Season 2 has been a drag; like the entire play could have been done in 4 episodes imo. Sorry but I'm not watching through half a 24-part season of incredibly slow buildup before it gets 3-4 decent/good episodes. That aside, yes I know this is the intended point of the story, but its just not for me. I came for mystery and intrigue, not singing and dancing with a sprinkling of noire.

The issue with season 2 was the pacing of all its plots imo. The stage play took a couple episodes too many to get through and there are so many moments that feel like Akasaka was just bragging about how much he knows about the entertainment industry now that he's famous, like literally taking screen/page time to have characters explain in detail how many people are involved with a music video, etc. What drew everyone in was the revenge story and while waiting to have it reappear mid-season did make it more impactful, i feel like a lot of people dropped out before it could hit them because we were watching yet another arc about a mangaka being overworked lol. I think this is a rare occasion of the manga undermining the anime, I did not watch the season 1 when it was airing, I was interested but time and outside things made me not watch it, but I have my normal exposure to pop culture of anime and manga, even when I haven't seen or read I know things about some series, and before seeing the oshi no ko anime I knew about "the scene" that is in the manga and thankfully is not in the anime yet, but that was enough to made me take a long time thinking about if it was worth it to see the anime at all, and since I really like artists expressing a lot of messages through anime and I had listening the song time and time again, knowing the main topics of entertainment industry is what gave me the push to see this anime even when I am going to have to endure that part at some point, I think that manga panels are the reason a lot of the cpnversation around the series is out.

Even if he logically understands that considering the injury and the tools he had at hand there was nothing he could do, most doctors are into their job to try and safe lives, so it very much feels like a failure, like it was all his fault.

If you are open to watching this show there is one suggestion that I will make that will determine if you'll want to watch this anime series through: As you know the first episode of the show is 87 minutes long. You have to watch that episode completely through in 1 sitting. I say this because premise/synopsis of this show on My Anime List would make you think this show is one of the dumbest reverse isekai plots. This episode, effectively the length of a short movie, gets you through the prologue of this series. If you are still willing to watch this episode under in those conditions, then I can fairly say you will be able to give this show a chance. If you are able to enjoy what the premise introduces you, beginning to end, then you will be able to enjoy it. Yes the show actually peaks in tension in the 1st movie length episode, but I believe if you can enjoy what the 1st episode tries to sell you on from the deep look into the entertainment industry, the characters, and the murder mystery that exists in the subconscious of the show, than you will be able to appreciate the show. I understand this sounds intense, but when Gigguk sold me on this anime when he made a whole video on why I and anybody else should watch this episode, I watched the anime when I felt I could 87 minutes of life, and watched it. It is in my eyes very good so far, very cinematic, film geeks would call it kino.
I'm sorry for rambling, but I'll conclude this reply with this: I would 100% recommend you check out this episode, only if you are able and willing to sit and watch through the 1st episode in one sitting, and you can say to yourself you like what this show was focused on for a majority of this episode. If you can watch through the 1st episode and genuinely enjoyed every part of the 1st episode, then I can say you will enjoy this anime series. Sorry if this was intense, but I believe in laying out the brass tax for this show in the bluntest fashion gets across why this shows potential audience nosedived just on the premise and length alone. I won't give you the red pill or blue pill talk, this show demands its viewers full uninterrupted undivided attention to enjoy from the 1st episode. So I'm sorry if I sound pretentious, but hopefully you will want to watch and enjoy this to the fullest. And again, I'm sorry for the length of this reply, so I'll stop yapping.

There are potholes just like in any story. But the characters and the actual storytelling is perfect it's so captivating. I almost want to pick up the manga and read it. But I know that the anime is carrying so much. Which is a good thing it means it's taking advantage of the medium. Which I genuinely appreciate. But a lot of people aren't into this type a genre.
