Last I checked both liberals and conservatives are fat as phuck and would do some good to admit they are dealing with a food addiction (mainly to sugar / carbs). Looking at your weight, you would benefit by cutting out the carbs. The carnivore diet is not a conservative diet. jfc, please don't turn this into a vegan political issue. I’m just going to point out individuals with autoimmune diseases are extra sensitive to pesticides and herbicides and carnivore is really the only way to heal and eliminate that so the body can heal
I became very unwell about 5 years ago, and was able to narrow it down to having become hyper-sensitive to dairy. I have never been vegan, but these days I thank God for vegans, because vegan food is just about the only thing you can buy in the supermarket that definitely doesn't contain dairy. If there was no vegan food out there, I dread to think how hard it would be for me to find anything dairy-free to eat (off the shelf, at least).
Same for my daughter. She’s got digestive issues with dairy and now there’s so much delicious milk free food, we can almost always find something to replace what her siblings get Vegan food is the best, regardless of whether you’re vegan
I always think about how weird it is that we consume breast milk from other animals. Conservatives have always framed farming as a masculine occupation, when it is just as easy to view producing and consuming dairy products as infantile.
There is so much food just actuall food that doesnt contain dairy but I guess you mean things like plantbased milk and ice cream and chocolate.. yeah ok those are actually usefull im. Not a fan of fake meat and stuff im just like pff just eat beans lentils daal you know but yeah chocolate icecream thanks for that 😂
Vegan food has more carbs in it which causes diabetes and other health problems. I lost over 100 pounds and nine months from the keto carnivore diet without working out so your argument is invalid Keto, master race, vegan peasants, DEAL WITH IT!
@jimmyjobob009 I like your observations there... that one can easily see all this as infantile, and stunted. It makes the most sense that baby cows should be the only ones drinking their mother's milk.
It seems like the proponents of the diet associate “The Left” with a more sustainable diet and, so, they do the opposite like true (irrational) contrarians.
its so painfully obvious that its not the meat but the lack of sugar, processed foods, and corn syrup derivatives. almost anyone who cuts these out will see a major improvement in their health
Omg so true. The problem is the ultra processed foods, and that can include fake meats too, so many vegan diets have become a lot more unhealthy because of those...
I had a roommate and close friend one time who ordered McDonald’s at least 3x a week, mainly ate red meat for his other meals, almost never exercised, and put away *at least* 12 beers a day, often times with half a bottle of whiskey to boot. You’d think he’d be morbidly obese and out of shape, right? Wrong. He was as thin as a rail. Love the guy, but he was living proof to me that thin does not always equal healthy. Just because you lose weight from eating all meat (if that’s even true) does not automatically mean you’re healthy or that your internal organs aren’t crying out for help.
Some (young) people have so high metabolism that it takes effort for them to gain weight. Some diets make body so messed up that it loses weight, mostly through losing water.
I'm a very healthy person, I was vegetarian for a while, and I eat very balanced home cooked meals, and ear a lot of vegetables and fruits, I almost never drink soda and I'm fat, I have to work really hard to lose a kilo (I have hormonal problems)
The opposite is also true, some people can be overweight their whole life and remain free of health issues: your body type doesn't really matter, the important thing is to make sure you're in good health. Some More News brushed the topic recently (episode title "Weight Obsession Is Ruining Everyone's Health").

This was over 12 years ago and The Atkins Diet was still quite popular and my agency would recommend this as a quick fix weight loss solution. I have seen how eating just meat has affected young and healthy people. Everyone knew it was bad for you and gave you low energy, headaches, hair thinning, bad breathe (it is so so bad), dull and tired looking skin. The women who did this where always absolutely knackered and could hardly string a sentence together because they felt so tired. I do not believe for one minute these people eat this daily.

Not only were they not carnivores back in "the good ol days", eating meat was considered a luxury in almost all cultures and even today, especially in poorer countries
Good points, and the meat consumed long ago was healthier than most common feed-lot industrial meat, preserved meats, and processed meats. This diet is not sustainable, and only for the really rich people... another aspect of it which isn't logical or practical. So many people who enjoyed a quite modest amount of meat consumption have had to give it up due to inflation, and price gauging. It's crazy to imagine if more people began eating like this. The prices would continue to rise exponentially. Just when we thought progress was being made with meatless mondays, vegetarian weekends, using less meat more to simply flavour a dish, now we have this lion cult! Conservatives love going backward, and fostering regression.

The fetishization of the strong dominating the weak in some "natural order", obsession with brutality and violence being an expression of masculinity, aversion to empathy and caring for the weak, thinking rational and moral progress is "perverse" or otherwise against nature. Romantization of traditional dominance hierarchies and culture, like rural farming. Rejection of science and intellectualism in favour of "common sense". I think we will see more and more that animal agriculture will be incorporated into fascist propaganda. The more the world progresses morally and scientifically, and in order to be kinder to humans, animals, healthier and environmentally friendly will inevitably become more plant based, reactionary fascists WILL push animal agriculture and mass consumption.

The thing is... there is no such thing as a strict diet in nature. In the wild, obligate carnivores will not only occasionally nibble on plants, but they will also eat plants in the form of their prey's gut contents. (This is how wild carnivores and outdoor cats get tapeworms. Yummy) They will also get indigestible fiber in their diet from fur and feathers. Anyone who has ever had an outdoor cat that hunts knows this.
Also, animals that are considered herbivorous have been known to eat other animals, either hunting small animals or scavenging dead animals. Deer have been observed eating birds and consuming the bones of other animals.
It may sound convoluted, but I tend to explain it like this, "You are what the thing you are eating has eaten" Also, people are starting to find that animals will supplement their diets with things outside of their assumed preferences, such as how deer will occasionally eat birds.
The thing is that you literally can't just live on meat. 'Carnivores' always gloss over the other things they take to supplement their stupid lifestyles, like multivitamins to avoid straight-up malnutrition and just... obviously non-meat items. Leaf and bean juice (tea and coffee) are the usual culprits for really obviously non-carnivore options, but milk's another big'un. Also you'll have to pardon me if I doubt that Jordan "Find the hardest thing you can do and do it, now pardon me while I enter into a medically-induced coma to avoid doing a hard thing" Peterson actually sticks to his stated ideals about anything.
@@scotlandtheinsane3359 Plenty of 'carnivores' drink milk, or use milk (or milk products like cheese) and the hoops they jump through to justify it are pretty funny
You can't become nutritionally deficient on a fully animal product diet like carnivore, the fact you think that's possible tells me you know nothing about Nutrition and food. I was on it for 6 months and it healed every aliment I had, the only reason I quit was because it made my anxiety worse..
Well, you can live on exclusively meat diet and not develop deficiencies. However, to do that, you would have to consume quite a bit of it straight up raw, because some vitamins denature due to oxidation and heat during cooking. Some cultures (mostly in the high arctic) have historically done this. Now this doesn't change the fact that it is a really weird and unnecessary thing to do. Firstly, there are ethical concerns with meat, and even if you do not care about animal suffering, there are still environmental issues related to the production. Secondly, why would anyone avoid all the tasty and nutritious stuff that isn't meat? It seems to me like a exclusively carnivore diet would take some serious dedication, for absolutely no gain, with several downsides.
The dumbest thing about these Paleo-carnivore diet grifters is that they proclaim that becuz the hunter-gatherers ate a majority meat diet, which isn't even true, if we returned to that diet then we'd have less illnesses. Implying that our ancestors somehow didn't get sick; which is the exact opposite of reality. A: Our ancestors did eat a lot of meat but the majority of their diet would have been nuts, beans, fruit and various local vegetation. B: They absolutely suffered from some of the same illnesses we do. The only thing these ppl get right about our diet is that modernity has cheapened our dietary intake due to capitalism. Which, I imagine, isn't something old Jordy likes to ruminate on too much.
They never eat insects either, which really bothers me. ALL our ancestors ate a bunch of insects, if we go into indigenous communities to this day you'll see them eating larvae and maggots and scorpions and tarantulas and ants. It gave us B12 and loads of protein. Very easy to find. Yet all of them act like our ancestors out living in South Africa or the Amazon or wherever were all eating steak, an animal which was never native to every continent.
It would take so much energy to depend on foraging as your main source of food, you'd become malnourished before long. The amino acid profile you will find in meat, you cannot find in veggies or fruit. I haven't even mentioned other vitamins and minerals you will only find in meat. Do you think there was a vitamin store selling B12 supplements those days??? 🤓😂 Do you think neanderthals would come across a farm? Agriculture wasn't a thing until 10,000 years ago.

"The gradual transition to a vegan diet has allowed him to perform more consistently across a variety of race lengths. He puts this down to how the vegan diet has impacted his health, recovery, and training."
Humans are super adaptable. You can eat what you want as long as youre getting what you need. I dont think plant based is optimal or whatever. A pure carnivore diet is a good way to get scurvy though unless youre killing it fresh and eating the bone marrow and organs. Even then youll end up with colon problems from no fibre
@@markbaker4425 specifically in the case of ultra-marathon runners, a carb heavy diet like a plant based diet would be beneficial (and probably even optimal) to keep them fueled through the race. Even runners who aren't plant based carb load before an ultra-marathon. Diet is a really interesting political topic. If you are on the left you are probably more sympathetic to vegans and if you're on the right you are more likely to go extreme anti vegan and believe something ridiculous like humans are obligate carnivores. Psychologically what I think is happening is that on some level people know certain things are wrong, but they either try to do better in some ways or become entrenched in denial. The sort of response kind of matches up with whether you are left or right and obviously people are complicated so it's more of a tendency; there are certainly anti-vegan leftists and stuff, but generally on most political question leftists aren't going to believe whatever is most convenient for them if they've heard compelling arguments for why it's wrong.
What you are describing is cognitive dissonance. Bare in mind that meat production is ideologically cemented in North American culture (Canada and America) because of how meat was used to promote the idea of self-sufficiency when America was still having a jerking contest with the USSR. Conservatives don't like vegetarians and vegans because they think that it politicizes their dietary preferences, but the reality is that the state has primed people to support factory farming for over a half a century now.
Honestly a lot of leftists make fun of vegans too, we mostly just sympathize with them more because veganism doesn’t increase your risk of deadly conditions like heart disease or cancer. We just like it when other people’s decisions are logically sound, while conservatives will latch onto whatever asinine thing they can just to make “leftists” angry. If you told them dropping the atomic bomb on their own country would make leftists upset, they would do it in a heartbeat.
@@SleepyMatt-zzz Yeah, cognitive dissonance is certainly what is going on and is something that everyone deals with including leftists that like to dismiss things with "there's no ethical consumption under capitalism". Maybe leftists are more self aware about feeling cognitive dissonance though not perfect, while conservatives are just perfectly comfortable with cognitive dissonance and fine with completely ignoring the things that might cause them to feel it.
@@UncleSamsoniteLover69 I mean the best scientific evidence seems to suggest that veganism moderately decreases risks for heart disease and cancer. There's also the environmental benefits like it being the best thing individuals can do to fight climate change, fight the loss of biodiversity, and alleviate the scarcity of land and water. And then on top of that there's the fact that the animal ag industry is probably one of the most disgusting capitalistic enterprises on the planet. But with those addendums I agree with the statement.

So I also had junior rhumatoid arthritis when I was in middle school and I suffered with it regularly flaring up randomly for over a yr and it was awful. My knees hurt, felt like an old lady trying to get up and down. I loved inline skating and I couldn't do it as much bc of the pain in my knees. Other joints hurt too, but the worst was my jaw. Every couple of weeks it would swell in the joints of my jaw and I wouldn't be able to close me mouth all the way without severe pain. Hard to chew my food since I couldn't make my teeth meet. I couldn't close my mouth without forcing it and incredible pain. I'd feel it coming on and just cry bc I knew the pain and trouble eating was coming and woild be there for a day or 2. I mentioned it to my parents, but they didn't really say anything or do anything. So I just tried my best to deal with it, but it was hard, and I'd cry a lot from the pain and not knowing what's wrong with me. One day I was just sitting on my bed quietly crying from the pain in my jaw that day and my mom happened to come on my room and was surprised to see me crying and asked what was wrong. I told her I just hurt so much and was also frustrated I couldn't do the things I loved like skating bc my joints ached too much. Me sitting there just crying on my own from pain and hopelessness made her realize there was something more here than just I'm a little sore. Got me off that medicine and the JRA went away too thankfully. I'm so glad my mom took me seriously after seeing me like that and found out what was happening and to get me off that specific medicine, instead of being like this asshat and not taking my pain seriously and telling me to basically suck it up and don't let my illness impact my life. So people get on the diet, perhaps feel better for a few days, then feel awful, and at this point here Mikhaila is offering to help coach you through the “fought patch”. Wanna bet that’s what the whole grift is? And also, wow, that is evil.
I've been vegetarian nearly my whole life. Whenever I've had a blood test, they've told me they have slightly higher than average protein levels. The idea you can't get enough protein on a plant based diet is a myth. Most nutrition experts agree that when done properly, a vegetarian diet is one of the healthiest diets one can have. Pretty much all nutrition experts agree that the carnivore diet is a dangerous fad. The issue is that many of these fad diets are clearly examples of disordered eating.

To be fair, Peterson sounds like he hasn't had a good shit in years. While I'm on the subject of diets, the UK and the US has disgusting food quality. Even our bread is full of trash. Europe doesn't struggle with food health the way that we do. I had a couple of friends move to Europe years ago. I recently visited them and I thought they were in serious financial trouble, because of the weight they lost. Eating with them, I came to see that the food there has less extra crap in them, particularly the bread, that has none of the preservatives. Their fruit and veg is fresher, more nutritious. Almost all our food has sugar or sweeteners. We just don't have it over here and it is obviously affecting our ability to control our weight.
If you live in the UK, you probably also experience that, but if you live in the US, you probably don't: Public transport makes you walk more, even if it is excellent. I mean, I lived in a place with a bus stop 30 seconds away from the main entrance of the building I lived in and 30 seconds away from the entrance of the main shop I shopped at. Yet still, I would have walked less to go grocery shopping had I had a car.
Should have tried out anti-inflammatory or low FODMAP diets first, before going straight to only eating meat. You know, removing the specific carb types that are known to be problematic for some people, instead of just cutting ALL of them out...
Yes, and most notably in her case, nightshades and sugar are commonly anecdotally linked to increased joint inflammation=more pain. For others, certain grains happen to be involved.
Come on, JP. I may prefer eating meat over salads, but I know such a diet is nuts to do and bad for my health, hence why I juice my leafy greens and mix in a bit of fruit to make it palatable. Besides, I know what happened to Atkins. I have no intention of going out like the guy who started the all-meat diet - i.e. as a vegetable.
People are afraid of carbs before realising the don't know shit about nutrition and eating a burger. People could learn this in like 2 days but conservatives are afraid of reading.
Talk about privilege... being able to eat steak and nothing else is just crazy to think about, I can barely afford to make meals with ground meat because of the cost.
I always think about Dead Rising and how the entire plot happened because corporations wanted to accelerate meat production. I don't remember how the wasps fit into the picture, but I like America's fixation on beef consumption as a natural extension on how Romero zombie films were about consumerism.
I’m an Indigenous Aboriginal, before we got colonised about 200 years ago we ate like ‘cavemen’. Wanna take a guess as to what some of the foods my people ate in one of the harshest places on earth: nuts, seeds like from the golden wattle, roots, leaves, flowers, damper (which is a type of bread), fruits such as plums, honeys and nectars, vegetables like yams, we even have herbs like sage and thyme. Plants are important and when you actually look at, natural diets, you can see how much plants take up those diets.
I've been working with a nutritionist for a year at this point, so I can speak on at least one thing: The lady who had the massive list of issues did list a lot of things that are affected by diet, and eating only meat would alleviate a lot of what she listed: IBS and arthritis, for example, are both inflamed by sugar and certain FODMAPs. Too much starch/sugar can also cause issues with mood and can increase depression. Skin conditions caused by diabetes will clear up if you cut out all carbs and sugar and avoid certain veggies like corn and carrots. If you go to eating just meat, a lot of those issues will ease up. BUT: you'll end up suffering from other issues in the long run if you're not monitoring your micronutrients. Elimination diets are not meant to be permanent, you're supposed to reintroduce things slowly and see if you still feel well, and if you feel worse you drop the new item and move on to something else.
In the body building, fighting, and some ball sports world, one will occasionally find a person that's doing a "build cut", so they're essentially getting nearly all their calories from meat. Two common side effects that pop up quickly, are terrible breath and constipation. The near long term, before the colon issues, are the risks of vitamin and mineral deficiencies.
I tried a very low carb diet a few years ago, and tbh, I did feel great while it lasted. The biggest problem, though, is that it's so hard to get the daily recommended amount of calories by eating meat. I would feel satisfied, but I wasn't getting enough calories. That's why a lot of these people are losing so much weight.
@@annjay2581 It's probably because protein tends to be more filling and meat takes longer to digest, so they probably lost their appetite and did not feel hungry enough to eat anymore.
Yes. I went carnivore for a week and decided to start tracking my calories. It was less than 1200 a day and I had zero hunger. Carnivore is not necessarily keto high fat. If you just eat steak and egg and bacon it’s not very fatty. We get a lot of fat in the oils in regular food.
My dad lost a lot of weight (150+ lbs) using the keto diet about 20 years ago. He ate a ton of red meat, cheese, eggs, butter, and processed meat. It did reverse his pre-diabetes at first, but after about 5 years on the diet he started developing kidney problems, hypertension, and his blood sugar started coming back up... All in his early 40s. He also began to regain some of the weight. He switched to a more "Mediterranean" diet (heavy on vegetables, no red meat, very little saturated fat) and has been on it for about a decade now. He's 55 now, weighs less than he did in college, works out twice a day and can party harder than I can.
How much almond flour, greens, and other things was he eating? You can't just claim that the keto diet in and of itself is the problem, when there are specific things within the keto diet that are more problematic. And no, meat has never been and never will be the problem.
Even actual scientific studies on nutrition are notorious for how often they give ambiguous findings and are often later contradicted by newer studies. The problem is there are so many other factors at play and highly controlled studies are practically impossible to do so much of the data comes from people self-reporting their diet and people kind of suck at that kind of thing. Someone might start some extreme diet or another and believe it cured their depression without even thinking about the fact they started dating their awesome romantic partner around the same time.
Indeed I'll also add that things such as cutting down on sugar is easier said than done due to how much of it is in our food and even scientists know this.
In 2019 I was very ill with liver disease and heart failure. I removed carbs from my diet and two years ago went entirely carnivore. My liver is 100% normal now after being on the verge of cirrhosis. My heart ejection fraction was 35% in 2019 and just a few months ago it came in at 60%. Normal. My cardiologist's clinical notes state that I have no clinical signs of heart failure. Today at 76 I am healthier and stronger than I have been in decades. Decades. I will never go back to eating carbohydrates.
This is a good video and I think you hit the nail on the head. It’s a common human bias that people jump to diet as a way to cure everything. I was trying almost everything to improve my joint pain including fasting but in the end I just needed surgery to replace the joints with no cartilage 😂
Last year I took an Anatomy class and my teacher was a surgeon and there was a cop in my class and during the break between lecture and lab my teacher loved to talk to this cop about Dr. Jordan Peterson and Dr. James Lindsay and all I could do was face palm.
surgeons are often ego maniacs with the god complex mind set. "I have the power to save lives so I'm pretty much better than every one else" And pigs have it as well. "I'm the hero with a gun who stops the bad guys, aren't I awesome???" Even though the reality is that surgeons often fail to save said person but still charge the family for everything they got and pigs... pigs are useless lol. Makes sense that they would simp like a couple of cux cucking it up lol.

I have lupus with major arthritis. Found out i had celiac disease, cut out gluten and feel 1000x better. Gluten in the US causes inflammation in a lot of people, especially if you already have an autoimmune disease, even if you don't have full blown celiac. I wonder if they just cut the gluten out, but kept other grains like rice, and stuff like veggies and fruits, i wonder if they'd have similar health effects like lesser inflammation? FYI, as a teen i went on a super high protein diet, mostly steak (because i worked at a steak house) and I did lose significant amounts of weight. My joints might not have hurt, but i was constantly exhausted. It also didn't help my bipolar disorder. At all. It was so much worse.
I wonder if some proponents of the “lion diet” have undiagnosed celiac, especially because a lot of people live without knowing that they have celiac disease until their symptoms become unmanageable or they suffer a health crisis.
According to my grandfather, and my father: my great granddad had an all meat diet. He never ate vegetables except for potatoes. He died from a heart attack at age 40.
My wife and I have a neighbor in our apartment who eats meat for every meal, which I absolutely hate because his kitchen always smells like death ☠️ He is an alcoholic, obese, and has a mountain of health related issues. Deapite all of this he is always trying to convince everyone that he does not eat meat or drink alcohol, he is a compulsive lier. I am always worried that he is going to keel over and die someday. The only consolation to this situation is that I have lessoned my meat consumption, and I feel way better for it. Living next to that man has made eating meat unappealing to me.

It may sound convoluted, but I tend to explain it like this, "You are what the thing you are eating has eaten"
Also, people are starting to find that animals will supplement their diets with things outside of their assumed preferences, such as how deer will occasionally eat birds.
I never knew this! Thanks for the fun fact!
@@FrozEnbyWolf150yeah I was traumatized when I saw a deer eat a small bird.

No wonder he sounds constipated most of the time.
"Milk's another"?
@@scotlandtheinsane3359 Plenty of 'carnivores' drink milk, or use milk (or milk products like cheese) and the hoops they jump through to justify it are pretty funny
You can't become nutritionally deficient on a fully animal product diet like carnivore, the fact you think that's possible tells me you know nothing about Nutrition and food.
I was on it for 6 months and it healed every aliment I had, the only reason I quit was because it made my anxiety worse..
Your second paragraph is particularly poignant.
@@notrandom2Hunter-gatherers worked much less than the people of today. The average work time of hunter-gatherers was 20-25 hours a week. Foraging was memorizing the time and place of edible plants, and this knowledge was passed down through the generations.
So she started looking into my symptoms and doing some research and wouldn't you know, turned out one of the medicines I was on at the time to address the hyperthyroidism I'd been diagnoised with a yr earlier had been documentes to have the side effect of basically causing JRA in a handful of patients.
Plants are important and when you actually look at, natural diets, you can see how much plants take up those diets.
Jp is not the goat... he just got gout
I've been working with a nutritionist for a year at this point, so I can speak on at least one thing:
The lady who had the massive list of issues did list a lot of things that are affected by diet, and eating only meat would alleviate a lot of what she listed: IBS and arthritis, for example, are both inflamed by sugar and certain FODMAPs.
Absolutely. Elimination diets should be time limited and MEDICALLY SUPERVISED.

Just imagine the farts JP probably creates. The stench must be absolutely unreal.

That's why a lot of these people are losing so much weight.

My wife and I have a neighbor in our apartment who eats meat for every meal, which I absolutely hate because his kitchen always smells like death ☠️
He is an alcoholic, obese, and has a mountain of health related issues.
