As a vegan, in my view a meal of meat here and there won't kill you, BUT Americans DO NOT eat one meal of meat per week, or even per day. Americans are eating processed meats and cheeses for breakfast, lunch dinner, a snack in between, and dessert too!!!!!! This is terrible for the planet, the animals, and yes, HUMAN HEALTH!

@@mountdoomeeit depends on blood type. Type a functions very well as vegan. Low stomach acid or it isn't as strong as it could be. Type O functions better as a carnivore. Grains will just make the O fat. The only fruit good for the O is the plum.

@franklopeziilmtmti603 that's interesting, if it's related to blood type. I'm not completely sure if that's true, but I would be interested in looking more into it. Do you have some sources you could point me to?

Remember that most vegans, including vegan doctors, have been on both sides of the equation. Most vegans did not grow up as vegans. Most have been eating animal products for most of their lives. People who are vegan are therefore, not truly biased. They are continue to believe in the healthy benefits of a whole foods plant based vegan diet because of the research they have done, the results they have seen in people going vegan and/or the results they saw in themselves after becoming vegan.

    • @ilegor365
      @ilegor365 ปีที่แล้ว +9

By the same logic, carnivores are also not truly biased, as they have also been eating plant based foods most of their life. All of us were on the same crappy processed food based diets before we switched to a vegan or carnivore or other diet. Unfortunately for vegans, there is a new wave of processed foods with a commercially driven vegan label, which continues to be a threat to human health. And on the subject of not truly biased, can we at least agree that unlike fruits, plants really do not want to be eaten and are loaded with toxins accordingly.

    • @ianmarshall9958
      @ianmarshall9958 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Excellent point! Being on both sides definitely gives perspective. For most people, they have never tried veganism and don’t know the health benefits from a personal level. I ate animal products for 26 years and been vegan 10 years. I will never go back to eating animals or their secretions. At 36, I feel and look better than it was at 26 years old. More so it’s for ethical reasons but it’s awesome is it to do something good for others and receive incredible personal benefits as well. Something else I will mention is that this debate was cut drastically. The debate between the hosts and the guests was actually very intense but the good points that the vegan doctor made were all cut out.

    • @Stupid_young

true. I used to be heavy meat and dairy consumer like regular guidelines. I swear to God...I've been a meat eater in the BBQ capital of Texas, Austin! Four months ago I went Vegan, and I've never felt better in decades. If you have health problems, then switching to this diet can save your health and your life. (Paleo and grass fed is BS. Never worked for me.) On a Vegan or Whole Foods Plant Based Diet (WFPB) you will lose your food addictions to sugar, oils, and all animal products. Get Dr. Garth Davis book about Protein and do this.
Keep upping your greens, veggies, and fruits, and do as much raw foods as you can by lowering your cooked foods. I'm feeling better going to more fresh and raw foods that are in the produce dept. If you have to, then buy frozen as a next option and as a back-up when you can't do fresh. Whole grains and beans and nuts and seeds can and should be part of the diet too. Don't worry about being perfect. Perfect is an idea, but not when it comes to all the food we eat. Just keep improving over time, and you will eventually come closer to perfection.
This truly is NOT a diet of deprivation, because eating no animal foods and products allows you to eat more foods you have been deprived of all your life. You will learn you were sick and deprived before you opened yourself to plenty of WFPB Vegan foods you never had before.
Goodbye Dairy, Eggs, Meats, and Seafood...Hello Healthy Happy Vegan! I'm free! The animals are free of me eating them too! What a relief for all Earthlings.

I don't think that you actually needed to go vegan just because you have health problems because. Most of the time it's because of your abusing food. Like for example in your average day you probably ate bacon which means unhealthy oil with eggs and biscuits (those aren't really bad except bacon) then for a snack you probably ate something sugary like for example Granola Which is just chock-full with sugar (and your only supposed to be eating 10 grams a day) Then for lunch you probably ate some ribs and meat which means that Your eating high fructose corn syrup which causes diabetes and meat which you aren't supposed to eat everyday maybe once every two weeks. Then for dinner, you probably eat tons of more meat (which I already said is very unhealthy.) And then I Know your gonna eat dessert Which means that Your gonna eat Peach cobbler pie and Blue bell ice cream Which means more sugar and high fructose corn syrup. So in a matter of years of course your gone get a bunch of diseases that doesn't mean oh never ever again, NO
All you have to do is eat well Look at Ingredients when your shopping for food Cut out HFCS (high fructose corn syrup), Tune down the sugar and youll live just don't eat all the sweets and junk 24/7 and you'll be fine

Okay, so if you're going to challenge a plant-based vegan/vegetarian diet, here's some stats for you.
58 years old, the moment I stopped eating meat, poultry, fish and dairy my blood work balanced out and I lost 32 lb. Additionally, started sleeping better than ever, more energy and by eating vegetables and getting off of starchy carbs, balanced out my blood work. Went from 197 cholesterol down to 151, HDL and LDL numbers all were in line with the consistent exercise program of swimming and weight training. I'd also recommend You watch the movie "Game Changers" which does a deep dive into what actually occurs in the blood of athletes with a meat vs. plant based diet. Definite eye opener.
I'm playing the long game and if you're considering taking control of your health, you should to. My health and long-term longevity is much more important than the short-term immediate gratification you all get from meat, chicken, fish and dairy. I recommend don't just watch YT movies, but actually read books, listen to podcasts especially Dr./PHD science research and analysis, case studies, attend lectures locally, talk to nutritionists, dieticians, and look at what a plant-based diet can do to the endocrine system and how it can reverse type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Yes, it can!!!
Also, whatever nutrients that you get from meat can be supplemented such as B vitamins. Lastly, educate yourselves and you'll find it's a sound diet for a long-term life and sustainability. I'm walking proof that this diet works.....Peace.

I loved that this show covered the topic of veganism and the What the Health film, however I feel like the "experts" on the panel were quite unbalanced, as they were all against the filmmaker and one doctor from the film. Also, I feel like Garth Davis done a good job. I hope people will look into both sides sources and the objectivity, causation and scientific findings including HOW these tests were conducted and the corporations funding the studies. At the end of the day I feel everyone can agree that industry funded science is not science so for that reason we should discontinue allowing scientific tests to be funded by industry. Also, the reason a WHOLE FOODS PLANT BASED (not just vegan) filmmaker may choose to focus on meat being unhealthy may be because of all the data showing how unhealthy it is and that may be the reason Kip chose to go vegan originally and very few scientists or vegans would promote eating unhealthy, processed junk food that happens to be vegan as being a healthy option, the film and the filmmaker and the scientists interviewed in the film are all promoting wholefood plant based diets and all dietitians agree that this is the healthy option they just argue how achievable that would be for people when there are so few takewaway options, because of the fast food fast work lifestyle instead of championing a change in lifestyle too.

Why do Americans have to go to other countries in order to have less or no inflammatory reactions to food that we eat???? I personally know two people that this has happened to. One came over from Brazil…she said she could eat anything she wanted in her country without gaining weight. But once she came here then she started gaining tons of weight. Another lady has a severe gluten intolerance, but when she was in Ethiopia she could eat all the gluten that she wanted. Makes me so angry that more people aren’t waking up to the fact that Americans are getting poisoned. 😭

I have been eating Keto and intermittent fasting for almost 10 years and all my numbers and weight have been fantastic. My family has a ton of history of diabetes and cardiac issues. The biggest benefit to a vegan diet is getting away from all processed foods, but now vegan burgers are taking over and those are processed which cause the same issues. Fresh veggies is the real key and fresh non processed meats.

@@YuraL88 I think you may have missed quite a few studies out there. The toxins in plants cause a huge variety of cancers. As vegan and vegetarian diets have increased so has the rate of cancer. Obesity is definitely both equally effected by both diets as eating natural foods is a major key, but the one thing I noticed is when I eat fruits and veggies I immediately start retaining water and get inflammation in my joints. So I get weight gain from water and achy joints. Not a great feeling.

Not sure why so many dislikes??? This topic and show just tends to confuse us more.
Bottom line should be that people should try the plant based diet for even a week and see if they feel any better.
Doctors save lives every day and deserve high praise, but they're mostly not taught the basics; meat-dairy-egg industries do not care at all about consumer health and they directly cause many diseases.
There are just too many sides to this to go into. It would be great if people would just realize that plants=healthy food and are capable of reversing disease and making us feel so much better.
Dr. Klaper would have been a great ally on the vegan side, but he's definitely not as feisty as Dr. Davis!
Now.....a positive mind trumps everything.... but that's another topic! This was a great episode, but I feel that those who go against the 'industry' are usually in the audience, in order to try to lessen their significance. It didn't sway too many people, apparently.
Hats off to the show for even tackling this topic and movement. I believe that all of them, in their own ways, want to help people get healthier.

O U C H! I decided to come back on here and go through some of the comments. I've filed a vegan diet for over 3 years now, but it was a process in getting there. Do you other vegans really think that pointing fingers and attacking others is going to get your point across better? Listen, like it or not, we are all in this together. Does it hurt me to know all of the suffering that the animals go through, because of our ignorance to the industries and realities?
Clever marketing and lies that we are taught from young? Yes. 100%
I ate meat all of my life and cannot attack others for being brought up and doing the same things. it really took a lot for me to actually realize what was going on, after seeing the torture and supposedly 'humane' methods of killing animals. All because of the taste and beliefs that we need to do this. When you can go out and eat an animal the same way that a lion does, then you can tell me that we are made to eat meat. There are many sides to the argument, but I find when you just open people's eyes and not attack them, it works much better. All these people attacking these Dr.'s, what is it proving and how is it going to help? When you first learn something, you have to take baby steps. it took me a long time to break out of this Matrix, and believe me, anyone can be deprogrammed. We sit around, complain, attack others, when instead we should just try to plant the seeds that it takes to help others make informed choices.
I was visiting someone in hospital and a homeless woman whom was patient there asked me the other day, why did I choose to be a vegan. I always ask them, do you really want to know? This might take a while.
She did. I gave her my story and she respected it. No debate, no arguing, just mutual respect for the other's point of view.
I created video the other day about my personal experience that I feel like sharing here BUT NOT FOR LIKES. There is nothing for sale and it is not monetized in any way.
Maybe it could help even one person reconsider eating meat or at least cut down on it and the other animal products.
Going to find the link and post it here. Nothing special about it. No special effects or edits. Just hoping to let people know that all vegans aren't skinny and deprived of nutrients, and there are many food options as well.
    Here's the link:

If it's not allowed then just delete the comment.
Good luck to everyone trying to help others and get healthy themselves.

Thing is there is no argument that living a vegan lifestyle is better. I'm a vegan myself, however to start comparing these foods to 5 cigarette a day is utterly nonsense. By pushing lies to meet an agenda is bad. There is benefit for kip Anderson as a animal activist who are weird but he's being paid by netflix.

Sounds like you're not a vegan but okay I gave you the benefits of the doubt.
That 5 cigarretes comparison was been a scientific data of different independent studies, it compared the effect of 1 egg and the cigarretes in causing cardiovascular disease. To be specific, the studies said egg yolk not the whole egg which is the one that is highly associated with cardiovascular diseases.

I would like to ask the doctors, if there are only 8-10 kinds of plants on the earth as your food, what plants or fruits do you want to be?

The Doctors should do their research and go through the medical journals first! It's all there published in black and white for all to read.
