Some of you have noticed my dyslexic mistake. In my clarification I say a range of 90-97% of fat was from carbs, no it was indeed 90-97% of fat from FAT. I was just trying to be transparent about the range observed ok different women. Too bad TH-cam no longer allows notes on videos. This topic is really interesting and I suggest this extended reading: m.ajcn.nutrition.org/content/74/6/707.full 📖 📖 📖
Mic. the Vegan Around 2:17 you show a chart sourced from the CDC and make the claim that it shows smoking dropped 60% since '65. It looks like it was a basic math error, but it doesn't diminish the point you're making. Smoking actually dropped 25.6% according to the chart which is still A QUARTER OF THE POPULATION. Which is still huge!
Mic. the Vegan No worries mate, I'm dyslectic too. I've always respected vegans for not going with the flow (like dead fish). After watching 'What the health' I stopped instantly eating meat and taking dairy products. It was that little push I needed I guess. Thanks for debunking the hilarious 'debunker'. I knew he was full of it.
Hi Mic. I'm replying to this comment instead of posting a new one because I hope it'll be likelier that you'll see it this way. I am a 20 year old woman, I'm an environmental engineering student, and about 2 months ago I started exploring a mostly plant-based diet (I say mostly because I'm not perfect, I will admit that I have succumbed to the odd non-vegan treat) because I am and have been overweight for most of my life and, despite quitting drinking and smoking, I had a wide variety of chronic pains and discomforts in various parts of my body, including my mental health, and we had discussed the implications of the meat industry on the environment in class, so I thought I would give it a go. It looks like, so I would assume, that you have access to Sciencedirect, and so I was wondering if you could find any sources that prove a correlation or perhaps even cause-and-effect relationship between meat/dairy consumption and mental/emotional issues. I don't intend on proving that a vegan diet is an alternative to anti-depressants, but I must say that a combination of psychological therapy and a drastic reduction of my meat and dairy intake has majorly relieved me of most, if not all, of my symptoms, and also kept me medication-free, and I was wondering if you could perhaps investigate that. I could think that it's maybe to do with environmental factors, that perhaps a decrease in meat consumption equals a decrease in hormones that are ingested, and these hormones have an effect on mental and emotional well-being? Especially for women who take hormonal contraceptives who experience depressive side-effects, it might be a motivator if they could control their symptoms using diet. I unfortunately don't have access to the scientific literature and would really appreciate it if you could consider maybe making a video where you explore this topic in more detail, as you are the most investigative vegan TH-camr that I have come across. I know that you have addressed the emotional well-being in women in your video about the changes that your body goes through when you go vegan, but I'm hoping for a little more, I truly think there is some substance to this. Sorry for the long comment, I hope you actually read it, and thank you for helping me on my journey to a better life!
adnanp88 Exactly right. Very difficult to give up fried chicken and ribeyes. I watched the documentary while grilling eight chicken thighs. After film was over, I dumped them all, plus three quarts of ice cream and a quart of root beer into the garbage. Every time I screw up and eat the wrong stuff, I watch the film and it puts me back on track. ( 4 of those thighs, and all the ice cream and root beer was my lunch).
@@dancindavey1515 so you decided after being enlightened, to dump the actual meat of animals into a dumpster cause u had so much respect for them now? ...
For what it's worth, I am a doctor (yes, a medical one, not a PhD), and "What the Health" transformed my eating habit. Many of my colleagues (also pediatricians) changed their dietary pattern too.
I went vegan about two months ago for 10 days. It was easier than I thought... Then I ate meat again and it made me feel uncomfortable... I've been vegan for a month since then, and it's been great. I've lost some weight too :)
GlobalGaming101 Congratulations on being vegan it's the best thing for your health planet and the animals keep inspire keep in educating yourself. ❤️❤️
Belex hahaha it is totally like doping. I recover faster and have put on muscle easily, I even found myself aching to run everyday (something I have always hated!) - hit up some of that black strap molasses for an extra boost of vitamins ;-)
The guilt from the knowledge of where it came from will get you. Keeps you away from it. Tastes good but it will hurt your heart. Figuratively and literally
without the prop we might forget his credentials - might think he's a gasping drag queen, clutching his pearls during an audition for a stage version of 'One foot in the Grave'
How does Mic not have a million followers at least? This guy is fun, brief, hilarious, informed, and entertaining. Much like I wish all my educators were.
well I'm diabetic and have neuropathy . every time I go to my ten doctors each one says the same thing," take these pills and I will see u next month". so I will try the vegan route for a couple months see if it real works? What do i have to lose? I'm suffering from nerve pain and I guess I have nothing to lose
You picked apart Z Dogs arguments while continuously providing scientific evidence, and did so without becoming emotionally involved (like many other of these "debunked" videos have). Very well done! Great video.
Believe me. It's all true. I got off all meds for diabetes after eating whole foods plant-based for only 3 months (that was FIVE years ago). I also lost a lot of weight and have kept it all off. Also, I used to walk with a limp (because I had severe osteopenia), yet I was able to RUN my first 5K at age 51 a year and a half ago. Plant-based IS the way to prevent and reverse dietary illness. #WTH
Mrs Plant that's amazing !!! I'm plant based because I have IBS and meat and dairy set it off. I think it's amazing that people with different diseases and the syndromes can switch to a plant based diet and it turns lives around
You better talk the truth here. Yesterday i saw What the health and while watching i said... "Fuck.. i'm a plant eater" :p it hurted a bit, i do enjoy a good piece of meat. But i should ask myself at what expense..
Good for you! I lost 226lbs in 9 months and am no longer pre diabetic thanks to keto, Butter bacon and cheese. Different things work for different people and plant based is certainly an option, but not the BEST one.
8 months Vegan, Lost 70lbs, Feeling better than I have my entire life. Will never go back to eating meat (Unless I want to feel like shit the rest of my life again)
Congratulations! I really hope to lose weight with this as well. I am only on week on, and I already feel improvement, I feel lighter, more aware, happier, awake, and very motivated! I can't wait to prove to everyone that veganism is the best thing anyone can do.
I just watched what the health on an impulse last night and well, today is my first day of a plant based diet. I've been bulking up and eating like 20 eggs and 6 chickens a week and barely eat any vegies and my belly is contanstly in flux...bloated, gassy, loose stool, cramps..I'm convinced plants can fix all this and probably even more!
I promise it will. Please stick with it even if you gain weight or get acne. I promise it will get better in a matter of months your body will want to get rid of all the animal products and purge it all away and it might take a while but you'll feel so so much better after your body adjusts x
thats b/c your ingesting too much protein. those are common symptoms of that. If you ate an egg or 2 a day and a piece of chicken, you would NOT experience that at all.
That's cool, but you do need to know, unless you focus on eating healthy you'll keep a little round belly anyways 😅 (I have a vegan pizza baby in the moment)
@@XxGiO13xX If you can be healthy and pay for animals to get killed or be healthy and not pay for it, it seems like an obvious choice.. but how can we understand humanity?
suburban homestead yes you're absolutely right about this one, they do not want to give up their addiction to meat dairy and eggs, but deep down inside I know it's the truth. Should be interesting to see what happens
I disagree, I want more people to go vegan. Just because I enjoy meat products doesn't mean I don't care about how animals are treated. If more people become vegan they may stop the factory farming bullshit. Also if more people become vegan meat prices may fall :)
Don't get me wrong I think that a plant based diet is a great diet that can heal many issues and help a lot of people but I don't believe that veganism is one size fits all. I was a vegan from 12 years old up until 6 months ago. I felt great at the start of being vegan but slowly lost energy, gained mental fatigue and just didn't feel right. Most importantly, seeing as you are an endocrinologist I wonder what you can tell me about the fact that for the majority of time I was vegan I had hormonal issues. I took all of the appropriate supplements, I paired my foods for optimal nutritional absorption, I exercised daily and I was always at a healthy BMI and a low fat percentage. At the start of this year I was diagnosed with PCOS, i didnt have diabetes, insulin resistance nor am I overweight so there was something going on, whether I have inflammation causing hormonal imbalance, who knows. So i decided to go high fat, low carb and to add in salmon and essential fatty acid containing seafood with the occasional red meat or chicken. Don't get me wrong, I hate the taste, texture and idea of eating meat especially after being vegan for 10 years however, my mood has increased, i no longer have anxiety, depression or dissociation. I have lots of energy, better digestion and my hormones are slowly balancing out. now as an endocrinologist how would you explain that if veganism is a one size fits all?
Cool... did you know that Deepak Chopra was an endocrinologist? Regardless of whether anyone agrees with or is interested in his theories and assertions about consciousness... something that is related to behavior which, I was taught in psychology 101, the endocrine system is one of the main biological drivers of behavior.... I heard some doctors recently criticizing him for saying something about cortisol (sorry dont' remember the details)... but then saying he is not qualified to talk about such things. At any rate, endocrinology seems like an interesting field. I had considered going into medicine at one point... that was a field I was interested in after having taken my psy 101 course... I've been highly interested in biological bases of behavior since then.
I'm a doctor and I can tell you that you have a handle on nutrition science better than 95%+ of doctors out there. Thanks for the quality, non-dogmatic, evidence-based content. Just found your channel.
Mic, thank you so much for this. I'm a baby vegan (2 weeks tomorrow!) and I'm already facing some social troubles and someone sent me ZDoggs video because they knew What the Health is what started it for me. As a baby vegan I don't know all the facts yet for sure and have been watching more docs and a lot of your videos but still it left me unsettled watching his. But I watched Dr Davis's and now yours and I'm very grateful for your always scientific and cited videos! Thank you again!
I know it doesn't seem like it but the fact that you are confused is a good thing. It means that you are still thinking critically about what you are being told to eat. Unlike the majority who just follow that social pressure blindly like sheep. :)
Frank Flynn, brainwashed seems a bit strong. I had a bilateral lung transplant three and a half years ago. With all the medications I take, I need to find the best diet possible. I appreciate your comments and am always interested in learning.
Mike, I truly and deeply admire your ability to answer the twerp in such a mature and academic way. Perhaps it is because I am older, I would have no patience for this quack!
The "Save yourself an hour and a half and watch a real doctor debunk it" temptation from ZDogg on his video description is one of many dirty ways he's trying to dismiss the points of the film - avoids his audience going into it informed. Seeing that in the description on his 'debunking' video while I was searching for "What the health" actually pushed me harder to watch the film before I checked out his debunking. Suggesting that your audience avoid checking the SOURCE should throw up a bunch of red flags for anyone watching.
In zdogg's video (unless there's a longer version I've missed) he conveniently skips over the parts in "What the Health" revealing which corporations and lobbyists are funding the major health organizations. Makes you wonder who's funding zdogg.
My doctor told me to eat healthier at one point and they didn't start talking to me about how the companies are out to get my money because that's not really related.
Because they totally care that much about one single documentary right? A documentary that might turn a couple thousand people vegan out of millions. You do realize how insanely paranoid you sound, right???
Simnett Nutrition How awesome that you're in Mike's channel as well, Derek! I love your channel and you've inspired me for the whole food diet and the hunt for the muscle up!
Thank you for this video. I became vegan about only three weeks ago and I’m already seeing significant benefits. Eczema that I’ve had for 43 years is clearing up, I’ve lost weight, no more bloating, & way more energy!
I watched what the health June Tuesday 30, 2017. spoke with my nutritionist Wednesday, went full vegan on Friday. that's 9 days ago, I feel normal, my weight is stable
Benjamin P you must be coming from a different dimension though, because 30 June was Friday. I just noticed because for certain reasons I was quite aware which day the 30th is
Benjamin P The gas will settle - it's just your gut getting rid of all that build up of putrid bacteria caused by animal products and replacing it with good gut bacteria. It takes a while to adjust... It was about a month or so for me. I find if I eat "vegan junk" and gluten I get gassy! keep it up bro! 😊
Buddy, I like the enthusiasm and how informative you are, this is quality content that we need more of, thank you for spreading the good word. I'm now vegatarian soon to be vegan and Ive never feot so sure about something in my life
plz educate yourself about the ethics, too! i know i'm late, but please do... earthlings, dominion, farm to fridge will help you become a vegan (not just eat plant-based)
There's an abundance of peer review papers that support the benefits of a plant based diet and the detrimental effect of animal consumption for both health and environment. The index of the superb 'How Not To Die' by Dr Michael Greger contains a large amount of references to peer review papers that he discussed through the course of the book. I receive a copy of the British Medical Journal even month due to wife job, and its evident that even the main stream, pharmaceutical lead health care institutions are admitting the horrendously negative effect of a carnivorous diet. Most especially dairy and eggs. All the research is out their people just need to be motivated to find it. It's not hard at all.
Oh man... This "doctor"... I can't look at him or listen to him. I love your work but can't watch this video because of him ;). I can't believe anyone would believe in something a doctor like that says.
What you’re insinuating by putting quotes around doctor, is that he’s not a real doctor. So here’s an example of you’re mentality. “This man’s opinion differs from mine! This discredits his years and years of medical training!”
i don't think that's even a real doctor. i mean he's even rude in his comments, at least us vegans( most of us) are not shitty persons who insult the way of eating . there are vegans who have lived this way through their whole lives and i don't see them dying from nutrient deficiency or chronic diseases
naomi piña gaxiola Well he is. News flash- lots of doctors are assholes. My moms a nurse and she’s dealt with a few. Being rude doesn’t discredit him. He graduated from Berkeley’s med school, and he worked at the Stanford University hospital for ten years before founding a primary healthcare clinic called Turntable health. You being offended doesn’t change this.
Arya M Congratulations, you did the right thing I've been vegan since February of this year best thing I've ever done in my life I feel so much better, my joints don't make anymore I have more energy guilt free great for the planet and the animals, keep up the good work stay strong and always educate yourself and stay motivated inspired
Thanks Mic! I am a primary care physician who just became vegan within the past few months. I just completed the eCornell Whole Food, Plant Based nutrition course to become more educated. I agree with the other physicians that we were not much about nutrition in med school. I am now recommending a plant-based diet to all of my patients for disease prevention, management, and treatment. Keep passing the word!
Charmaine Carter OMG I am a primary care nurse in Scotland. The docs I work for have no clue! My patients can't believe I go into diet so much and I usually get the comment "no one has spoken to me about diet before". Please also learn about B12 (know that's off topic) but I have found docs very ignorant about diagnosing and treating this (and it's not just vegans who get this, in fact, it is SO common in the general population. Wd recommend "Diagnosing and Treating B12 Deficieny" on TH-cam- less than an hour long). Wish all docs were like you 😊
Bravo! I went to a "SAD" nutritionists. I swear Vegan Gains had more knowledge about nutrition than this "professional" career nutritionist. You tubers have more knowledge of nutrition than these medical professionals at our hospitals
I did keto for over a year with my husband and recently went vegan due to the immense digestive issues I developed. I spent 3-4 months struggling through with serious issues such as (TMI) nausea, diarrhea, constipation, heartburn, to the point that the last week I was on keto, I couldn't eat without doubling over in pain. Thats when I went vegan. Within the first 12 hours of being vegan, my entire digestive system was back to normal...but even better than before. My first vegan meal was made from things I already had in my keto kitchen. I wish I'd known how easy this way of life truly is...it has a reputation for being difficult and in my experience, keto is much more difficult. From "fat adapting" to carb cravings to my now very public digestive issues. Never thought I'd say this, but I couldn't be happier to be vegan.
I dont want to discredit any doctors here because i know how hard it is to be a doctor, but just by behaviour alone (esp around 11:18) i can definitely tell which one is the crazy one. 😏 Also Mic. the vegan, im always so impress with how much research you read. You are more of a doctor than most doctors these days. Good job! 😎
Nothing against anyone trying to provide a counter argument to What the Health, we need unbiased debate (I saw it and enjoyed it but was conscious of how certain facts were sensationalized) . But the sheer amount of arrogance coming off of Dr. ZDogg is just so frustrating. He comes off as a "haha look at the silly crazy vegans being irrational". It is just rude.
Good point! Unnatural Vegan made an interesting response called "A Vegan Debunks 'What the Health' Documentary". I want the world to go vegan... but the science definitely isn't as clear cut as it is sometimes made out to be.
Haha I'm vegan man, have been for well over a year... 7 months pregnant with a healthy vegan baby :) as I said I want the whole world to go vegan and I am so proud as a Canadian that our new Canada's Food Guide recommendations are going plant-based (i.e. they are ditching the dairy group and urging people to prioritize plant sources of protein like beans and lentils over meat, whaaaaaaaat amazing!) I definitely think that plant-based diets are healthy, I just don't think we can categorically say that 100% plant-based is the absolute healthiest. I'm a scientific skeptic, not a vegan zealot!
great video? Yea if you trying to sound like an idiot. What does he know about nutrition? Doctors barely learn anything about food and nutrition in college.
@@andrecardoso1568 Well, when it comes to science, you can actually do research and read and learn about the studies that have been done so far. Mic is known for doing that and always posts links of his sources where you can check the information yourself. It's very unfortunate that doctors learn so little about nutrition and food and I believe that should definitely change. But it's all the more reason why I think this 'doctor' shouldn't make all these baseless claims. Where are his links to the studies that back up what he's saying? Also the childish way of responding would make me very suspicious if he was my doctor. It doesn't seem very professional to me. But hey, have your own opinion. We don't have to agree (although it would be nice if you wouldn't call me an idiot just for having a different view on the matter..).
@@tulp_graphics I didn't call you an idiot. I called him an idiot. Nevertheless you don't need to be a doctor to know this. Just talk with people that work in the meat industry. Leaving the these documentaries aside do you think the food we guy at the supermaket isn't harmful to us? Cancer barely existed 50 years ago nowadays millions of people die of cancer every year. Where do you think these diseases come from? Also we are destroying our planet to produce meat. People should really consider to reduce their meat consumption or we won't have a planet for our children to live in.
@@andrecardoso1568 Ok, you got me really confused. If you agree that we should buy less/no meat, then why don't you think Mic made a great video on that phony doctor? Who exactly are you referring to with 'him' and 'he'? I think you may have misinterpreted my first comment..
Also what I find remarkable is that when you're pregnant, the long list of foods they give to you to avoid are like meats, fish, cheese and list they give you to increase intake of are like fruits and veg - so doesn't it make sense to eat like that all the time?!
I went on the plant based diet after watching What The Health and in 3 weeks my blood sugar has gone from 312 to 121. I have lost 27 pounds and feel better than ever. Still needs to come down some but hoping by next week it will be normal.
The title should be why vegan doctors like to hate anything that's non-Vegan I can make a whole video about why brown rice is unhealthy because the high level of arsenic cause cancer so therefore brown rice is unhealthy what about the DHA IN Fish is better than ALA in plants and much more bioavailable I think I would rather listen to what longest living healthy Japanese are eating whole food unprocessed diets Any idea, why pesco-vegetarians had the lowest hazard ratio for all-cause mortality in the Adventist Health Study 2 despite pollution? I can see the ecological and other ethical problems with eating seafood, but doesn't epidemiology contradict the claim that a vegan diet is healthier than a pescovegetarian diet? I don't think I know better, it's just that I see some contradiction here. Thanks for your reply. nice logic very non-biased video 😂😂 - [ ]
Zdogg is so obviously working for the food industry, and not conveying his own opinion. He is so blatantly getting paid to have that opinion. I'm surprised more haven't caught on yet.
I just can't with this. MIKE, you're on point. I've actually studied this, and live it. You helped me transition from lacto-ovo to Vegan over three years ago, after my late husband dropped dead at my feet at 56, of his final heart attack, after 13 stents and a quad bypass. My current husband is also an Omni, who has gained over 60lbs since we were married, with no meat in our house. But he snacks daily on cheese, and eats whatever outside of our home. I am over ten years older, and I look like I'm his age. All we can do is make good food, and lead by example. You make it easier. Thank you.
Melly Rodriguez Congratulations, stay motivated do you like to research it does get better and better, for lots of reasons for your health the planet and the animals. I've been vegan for five months no regrets will never turn back or go back to you ever again.
I came with this documentary on. Netflix 2days ago, I'm type 1 diabetic, on the past year I gained more than 50 pounds, I got high blood pressure and fucking cholesterol I feel like shit! And MI sight it's getting bad. Anyways the documentary actually gave me hope to be healthier again i miss that feeling and we'll I'm one of those ppl who don't trust/believe whatever other ppl say until I prove it my self. And we'll today it's my 1st day and hopefully actually works for me.
I wish success in your endeavors, but also check out the other documentaries Forks over Knives, Food Matters, and Veggucated all on Netflix and free on TH-cam. These changed my eating habits to this day.
Everardini chuka - good for you. Please give it a chance. Ive just control my diabetes over a month ago simply with a vegan diet! I had to stop taking Rx cuz my blood sugar was under conyrol. Also, I didnt expect it but I feel so much more energy. Wish you the best.
Thanks for the good wishes you guys. And we'll the abate is. Almost two weeks of been Vegan and we'll it's going great, the 1st week it was hard but great at the same time, hard because I couldnt sleep at night it seemed that my body was used/addicted to that lifestyle, yet it was great because even when it was just th e 1st the week the symptoms due to cholesterol and high blood pressure where going away. I feel the difference and I feel much better with a lot more energy.! I feel much better and we'll I know it's just 2 weeks and feel this good. I'm so excited to feel even better in the future. I just need to stick to it. 😊
Exactly! If anything the Keto diet made me very sick. I watched another video on the keto diet and the guy in the video said that it is not good for everyone. Veganism is good for everyone, that is not an opinionated statement, it is factual. I am sure we all know that. There is so much biological evidence that shows that we are in fact not meat eaters. We have to cook the meat whereas other carnivores do not! That should be enough for people.
yeah, keto diets makes you sick in the first stages because your body is in shock. but once you get over this state, does not last more than a couple of days you shall feel a lot better...
Since watching "What the Health?" I start a vegan diet, that's 2 month from now and feeling absolutely great, stronger at the gym, injuries practically gone overall I just feel excellent.
@FluffyFungus Why don't you just watch it yourself so you can actually understand it, it explains its case on specific detail of why animal products are the actual cause of diabetes and not "carbs" and its correlation with other diseases. Propaganda is either lies or using negative tones to engage your agenda, also watch forks over knives its even better than What in the Health, it's very science and close study based with no emotions around it.
@FluffyFungus Why should he eat meat? What magical property does meat have that makes it inherently and objectively healthier? Besides, what do you think the animals you eat eat?
Great video. Like the haircut. That Dr. is the reason why people are so confused. How irresponsible to put people at risk. It just goes to show main stream "doctors" know very little.
Hey Mic, just wanted to let you know that suddenly YT is recommending your videos to me again (even 5 year old ones). I'm happy to see you in my YT space once more!
I've watched that documentary two days ago and I'm know changing my diet to vegan. I've been a vegetarian since February so I was kinda happy with myself when watching the documentary. :)
He's an obvious narcissist who has no idea what he is talking about. I've been a vegan for two years now and I have never felt better! Before becoming a vegan I used to get sick quite often with both allergies and colds caused by all the nasty animal fats I used to put into my body. As a Martial artist I used to think that the only way to keep up with my training was to eat animals. Thanks to your channel I found out that I was greatly mistaken. Thank you sir for enlightening me.
Vegan martial artist here!! I went through a period of time where I wasn't vegan, and feel like I lost a lot of muscle definition. My back, shoulders and abs were so much more defined when I was vegan. Back at it again and can't wait to see the vegan gains come back. I'm making sure to eat enough in a day this time.
if it fucked you up, then you did something wrong, for example: vitamin d, b12 suplements??? maybe youu ate the same thing over and over?? didnt have enough wisdom into the lifestyle??
I was skeptical of the narrators/documentarists’ agenda however after watching game changers and many other videos and peer reviewed studies that are out there, more people should give plant-based diets a chance. Been vegan since July of 2021, and immediately I was finding myself to be more energetic and clear of mind - plus I’m never bloated and regular when it comes to the bathroom trips - like clockwork . Couldn’t be happier! Plenty of ways to treat yourself too and you’ll expand you pallet in a global way by seeing what cultures around the world have enjoyed for millennia that are also plant based.
Stop being so sensitive? what he did right there was exactly what bullies sound like. Complaining and speaking up about stuff like that is exactly what discourages asswipes like him from being sexist FYI.
All I know is this...vegetarians, vegans, and meat eaters all have around the same life expectancy, similar rates of heart attacks and strokes, but vegans/vegetarians have higher rates of scary neuro disease mortality. Yet vegetarian and vegan diets are better? ROTFLMAO!
With the lactose intolerant bit, since humans have first evolved (from Africa may I put in), we've been naturally lactose intolerant. Look at mammals. After you're a baby, you don't drink milk anymore in the animal kingdom. So why do we? Over time, we have made ourselves accustomed to milk and dairy. And since the dawn of time, our species started out as gatherers first, then hunters. But while we hunted, we still primarily focused on gathering fruits, berries, nuts, etc.
Oh really you were there with early humans? Show me a shred of evidence that as hunter gatherers human beings mostly went after berries and nuts? DNA evidence and real science disagree with you. Also if early humans didn’t kill and eat/ build shelter from bones and fur of wolly mammoths during the ice age we would have all died out. That’s a fact. We never would have existed to go “HUMANS NEVER ATE MEAT” your very existence is proof we did get over it loser.
Yeah all other animals just drink water after they wean off milk. That's because they dont make tea. We use our intellect to gain nourishment from many sources and behave past our physical ability. No other animals fly planes, should we stop? No other animals drink the milk of another but across many cultures, cow, camel, horse and goat milk are all used.
So glad you made this video and put that negligent horses ass in his place. I'm am currently in my first inpatient internship as a student and find that approximately 80% of the patients I come into contact with have DM2, HTN, CAD, obesity and ESRD. It's unreal. I watch their meals of bacon, sausage and eggs covered in cheese arrive for breakfast and wish I could help them. Not a lot that can be done once you're on dialysis, but the lack of awareness is astonishing. How detrimental to have so-called MD's like this guy, putting out emotional and reactionary opinion pieces because he's too lazy to read research. What happened to evidence-based medicine? He clearly doesn't give a shit about helping people, only the views he gets.
Ughhhh reminds me of my ex... we watched what the health and immediately after the movie he went out and got 3 big ass pieces of chicken ☠️☠️ ignorance is bliss!
Try watching "Cowspirisy" which discusses the environmental affects of corporate farms. Also, watch "Earthlings" which shows the cruelty side to it all. If you're only vegan for health reasons, I'm sure you can still be healthy while eating meat and dairy as a limited part of your diet. But I, like many other vegans, do it because of all the reasons combined, mainly the cruelty to animals part of it. I refuse to let animals suffer to provide a product that I do not NEED to survive and be healthy. That's why I do it.
James Jordan I think the best doc is one called food choices which covers health, environment, and cruelty. Especially if you want to educate a loved one it's a great place to start.
It seems to be more common for people to adopt a vegan diet for health reasons. Later, they learn about the other benefits in regards to reducing animal cruelty. As for myself, I wanted to try a vegan diet for ethical reason, but I thought my health might suffer some. Now, I am learning that it might be the best thing for my body as well.
Mike Michaels Going on a vegan diet actually causes the deaths of *more* animals per meal than if you just used locally-sourced meat, or, even better, hunted the animals yourself. Especially if you use traditional archery equipment.
CavemanJoe. Brilliant! The answer has been right in front of us the whole time. How do you sustainably feed over 300 million people a meat based diet? Easy. Bow hunting. How could that fail?
One of my biggest regrets in life was watching What The Health just a week ago. I’m trying to go vegan now. But still looking for stores in my area to source some of my goods which are not too expensive. My cholesterol levels are above normal and I’m hoping for an improvement with being vegan.
All these labels are throwing people off man, "doctors", "psychologists", "psychiatrists", it's all trash. It's like if two people both get there drivers license from the same DMV, are they both going to have the same skill at driving? Such trash what people believe these days when it comes to a label. The only labels I look for is whether something has meat, milk, eggs, cheese, or dyes tested on animals. I love you Mic, thanks for keeping it real!
As a doctor, he should be constantly striving to acquire science- backed knowledge, not striving to support what he wishes was true. He's uninformed and arrogant. Also, gotta love the fact that he wears his stethoscope during the video on the off chance that someone might not realize he's a "doctor. "
You will be so happy... I ate meat every meal, eggs every day and consumed very little fruits and veggies. What a change- all aspects of your life will be positively affected. Great luck!!!
Before I saw this video, I was addicted to cheeseburgers. The part that really spoke to me was the pus coming out of a pig's and cow's legs. I almost threw up when I saw it, and I have never been tempted again. There are some really great documentaries about healthy eating, but, for this old bird, THIS was THE ONE to get me to change my eating habits. That pus grossed me out and changed me forever!
I think you should pursue a bigger audience. Perhaps a documentary or television series. You have a gift. The way that you see the whole picture and know how to pinpoint and draw out important aspects that others overlook. You have a very holistic understanding of the issues. So I think you could organize and arrange a really great full length film or ongoing series. I mean I realize thats what you are doing with your youtube videos. But you would kill it with a larger audience and conventional structure . Your persperspective and gift for rooting out and conveying evidence and points should be used in a larger platform. You have all teh necessary skills and talents to be a huge voice.
I think this might be happening on its own, check out how many views this video has gotten now. Most of his vids get 20-30, 000 views. This one is already up to 200,000. Go Mic indeed.
This is well done. I'm not sure what to think after watching what the health, but I am strongly leaning toward Veganism. Can anyone back up being a vegan....? I mean my grandmother is Mexican woman who grew up on a heavy Mexican diet of Steak, Chicken, pork, cheese, you name it. She is 82, but does have high blood pressure.
SMS Well eating animal products is kind of like playing Russian roulette with your life. The probability of you having a problem that could have been prevented is extremely high but sometimes people get lucky. That's all it is. Most people die from diseases that could have been prevented on a plant based diet. I suggest reading 'How Not To Die' by Dr. Michael Greger. That book changed my life.
Hey SMS, a bit late but I have been vegan/vegetarian for 3 years now and have recently had a full blood work done. I didn’t mention to my doctor that I was vegan because I wanted the results to speak for themselves and they came back all in healthy zones- no problems and my doctor never even asked what my dietary preference was! I hardly get sick, a cold 1 or 2 a year but it doesn’t stay long and I am back at it within a few days so I would definitely vouch for a vegetarian/ vegan healthy lifestyle 🌱
Honestly, you’ll wonder why you worried about it. Mexican food is super easy as a vegan as there are veggies and grains a-plenty (well, there should be!) as well as meats. Your g’ma and family might not get it but stick to your guns. This is your health and your life you’re worried about. They will come around eventually. But maybe you’ve already experienced this by now haha!
Mic. the vegan we knew what you meant :p. btw I believe you meant to say "on" after "observed" in your third sentence.
Mic. the Vegan Around 2:17 you show a chart sourced from the CDC and make the claim that it shows smoking dropped 60% since '65. It looks like it was a basic math error, but it doesn't diminish the point you're making. Smoking actually dropped 25.6% according to the chart which is still A QUARTER OF THE POPULATION. Which is still huge!
Mic. the Vegan deficiencies in vegans
Mic. the Vegan
No worries mate, I'm dyslectic too.
"People are really just looking to hear good news about their bad habits."
On point.
adnanp88 Exactly right.
Adnan ... That’s what I used to think . Ironically that phrase is much more apt for vegans.
@Hydroart Must be the cultist in me.

i wouldnt believe ANY doctor that behaves so unprofessional and keeps on using insults and fake humor. its not respectful.
especially one named "z dawg" lmfao!
I agree, it's extremely childish.
And crass language.
I also agree, it's impossible to take him seriously as a doctor with that wierd behavior
He’s a snide manbaby trying to emulate Joe Rogan
For what it's worth, I am a doctor (yes, a medical one, not a PhD), and "What the Health" transformed my eating habit. Many of my colleagues (also pediatricians) changed their dietary pattern too.
Check out Forks Over Knives too. It’s also on Netflix and I prefer it to what the health
So glad to hear that, inspiring!
You're a doctor and a Netflix documentary impacted your eating habits? Wow.
I'm with *YT19890151*
I find this to be an incredibly silly comment.
youngsatchmo, I wonder if the so-called "doctor" in this video was actually a paid shill for the beef, dairy, poultry, or pork industry.
I went vegan about two months ago for 10 days. It was easier than I thought...
Then I ate meat again and it made me feel uncomfortable...
I've been vegan for a month since then, and it's been great. I've lost some weight too :)
GlobalGaming101
Congratulations on being vegan it's the best thing for your health planet and the animals keep inspire keep in educating yourself. ❤️❤️
Belex hahaha it is totally like doping. I recover faster and have put on muscle easily, I even found myself aching to run everyday (something I have always hated!) - hit up some of that black strap molasses for an extra boost of vitamins ;-)
GlobalGaming101 Congrats!!!
The guilt from the knowledge of where it came from will get you. Keeps you away from it. Tastes good but it will hurt your heart. Figuratively and literally
just find some replacement meats you like once you have the craving
i have those maybe once every few months
the fact that he put on a stethoscope for the video lmaooooo
The fact Mic appears hyperactive, and constantly on edge.. See I can do that too.
Right?! Same thought here :D
without the prop we might forget his credentials - might think he's a gasping drag queen, clutching his pearls during an audition for a stage version of 'One foot in the Grave'

How does Mic not have a million followers at least? This guy is fun, brief, hilarious, informed, and entertaining. Much like I wish all my educators were.
Because people dont want to go vegan lol
He has no knowledge 😂
well I'm diabetic and have neuropathy . every time I go to my ten doctors each one says the same thing," take these pills and I will see u next month". so I will try the vegan route for a couple months see if it real works? What do i have to lose? I'm suffering from nerve pain and I guess I have nothing to lose

King B so why is prince fielder still fat and he is a vegan# ⚾️
Mrs Plant love your story! So glad this lifestyle changed your health :)
Damn... i'm 33 and i can't run 1k...
8 months Vegan, Lost 70lbs, Feeling better than I have my entire life. Will never go back to eating meat (Unless I want to feel like shit the rest of my life again)
SgtTeddybear59 congratulations that's awesome stay 💪 for the movement for your health the planet and the animals we can do this
SgtTeddybear59 Very good sir!
Thank you, sir.
I definitely will. Absolutely dedicated to this.
Michael S. How’s it going? Check out Forks Over Knives too that’s my fave doco about being plant based
I promise it will.
Those who are too attached to eating meat are starting to get worried. Brace yourselves. It's about to get worse.
suburban homestead yes you're absolutely right about this one, they do not want to give up their addiction to meat dairy and eggs, but deep down inside I know it's the truth. Should be interesting to see what happens
suburban homestead fuck yeah man!!
I don't think so
It's actually just sad that their whole lives revolve around cheese and meat
I disagree, I want more people to go vegan. Just because I enjoy meat products doesn't mean I don't care about how animals are treated. If more people become vegan they may stop the factory farming bullshit. Also if more people become vegan meat prices may fall :)
ZDogg sounds like someone I'd buy heroin from, not get health advice from.
Ethical Meat Eating Vegan I really hope you're username is just a joke.
P.S: I can't like you're comment enough.
Ethical Meat Eating Vegan I couldnt agree more 😂
Roadkill would be Ethical Meat that you could eat.
Even Gary Yourofsky called it a "Loophole".
But who wants to eat corpses ? xD

I am a Doctor..In fact I am an endocrinologist...Mic is Accurate.Good job.
Bharath Bachimanchi a plant based diet reversed my autoinmune thyroditis
Yeah? Look up insulin resistance, since you claim to understand hormones.
I am a Doctor, and he's wrong.
Cool... did you know that Deepak Chopra was an endocrinologist?
Surgeon
Lol, ok internet tough guy. Like if I told you what kind of surgeon I am that would somehow prove that I'm a doctor to you.
Ok shoot. I'm really intrigued now ha.
Mauling
Ahh, yes. Asking someone on the internet medical questions. That is a TRUE test to determine whether or not one is a doctor.
Which questions? If they're nutrition and basic science medical students could probably answer them better than doctors can ha.
I thinks it's pretty cool that Dr. Garth Davis made a reply!
IKR! called his kid-ass out straight-up. LoL
‘People just want to hear good things about their bad diet.’ I love that!
Thank you again!
but he had a stethescope and few books so he must be right...

Nancy McGill I know it's tough at first cause you can literally find anything online for or against what you look up
I know it doesn't seem like it but the fact that you are confused is a good thing. It means that you are still thinking critically about what you are being told to eat. Unlike the majority who just follow that social pressure blindly like sheep. :)

As a new vegan (8 months), i watch many videos. Yours are my favorite ones!
Mike, I truly and deeply admire your ability to answer the twerp in such a mature and academic way. Perhaps it is because I am older, I would have no patience for this quack!
Indeed, he is quite the quack.
That part with the graph about smoking joints is THE BEST and actually illustrated ur point really well lol
James Dewey no you dumbass he's a doctor so he will talk about the medical facts (no matter how bad or good he was at it)
Exactly my thoughts.
My doctor told me to eat healthier at one point and they didn't start talking to me about how the companies are out to get my money because that's not really related.
James Dewey exaaaaactly
Because they totally care that much about one single documentary right? A documentary that might turn a couple thousand people vegan out of millions. You do realize how insanely paranoid you sound, right???
YES! I was waiting for this. Sitting back with my smoothie for this one. :D
You didn't disappoint as usual, Mic! The stoner/joint analogy was so good!

I just noticed because for certain reasons I was quite aware which day the 30th is
you are right, it was Tuesday 27, my calendar sucks!
True, but never in my life i had this much gas
Benjamin P The gas will settle - it's just your gut getting rid of all that build up of putrid bacteria caused by animal products and replacing it with good gut bacteria. It takes a while to adjust... It was about a month or so for me. I find if I eat "vegan junk" and gluten I get gassy! keep it up bro! 😊
your body needs to adjust it's a good sign

The Horny Vegan I can't "like" this post enough. Hahahaha!
Oh my god I love your username, haha. Takes the concept of using cucumbers to a new level ;)
The Horny Vegan and your name is better? *facepalm*
Oh man... This "doctor"... I can't look at him or listen to him. I love your work but can't watch this video because of him ;). I can't believe anyone would believe in something a doctor like that says.
Aga in America doctor like that? Why does his personality change his credibility
Individual is smart, population - dumb. There will always be much more dumb people than smart ones. Sad.
"What the Health" is what finally made me go completely vegan. I've been vegan for one week and and one day now. :)

Charmaine Carter How much did that cost?
Where do you practice, and can you become my primary? :D
Yes! Thank you!!!
Also Mic. the vegan, im always so impress with how much research you read. You are more of a doctor than most doctors these days. Good job! 😎

You can tell who pays this “doctor “. This is the type of doctor that keep people sick
Kailee M yesss, I enjoy hearing counter arguments. However, Zdogg didn't bring any good arguments, just a bunch of childish crap.
check out Garth Davis's response. He clarified what he meant.
Good point! Unnatural Vegan made an interesting response called "A Vegan Debunks 'What the Health' Documentary". I want the world to go vegan... but the science definitely isn't as clear cut as it is sometimes made out to be.
The science and facts are clear. Keep eating your Bacon & coagulated puss. Bon Appetite
Haha I'm vegan man, have been for well over a year... 7 months pregnant with a healthy vegan baby :) as I said I want the whole world to go vegan and I am so proud as a Canadian that our new Canada's Food Guide recommendations are going plant-based (i.e. they are ditching the dairy group and urging people to prioritize plant sources of protein like beans and lentils over meat, whaaaaaaaat amazing!)
I definitely think that plant-based diets are healthy, I just don't think we can categorically say that 100% plant-based is the absolute healthiest. I'm a scientific skeptic, not a vegan zealot!
Thorough and comprehensive as usual! So glad to see people fighting back on his BS!
We will witness a vegan world in our lifetime soon. I can not wait. =)
Juice keep dreaming. ..
If I found out my doctor was making videos like that, I'd immediately switch doctors. What a quack!
Great video, Mic!
great video?
Watched what the Health and went vegan overnight. Even watching "Zdoggs" video wouldn't make me go back to eating an omnivore diet.
Taylan Polanco
Try carnivore diet
I have been vegan for over a year and a half now but What the Health made my parents vegan :) I hope they stick to it!!!!
11:20 Imagine being a doctor making fun of new mothers’ concern for their own and their baby’s health. Ewwww
Also what I find remarkable is that when you're pregnant, the long list of foods they give to you to avoid are like meats, fish, cheese and list they give you to increase intake of are like fruits and veg - so doesn't it make sense to eat like that all the time?!
xHaniffax , well said!
I would like to know what list they gave you because they have never given a list like that to any woman I know that has given birth or pregnant now..
xHaniffax right?!? Lol aaaah, the system, I shake my head at you 🙄😂
I went on the plant based diet after watching What The Health and in 3 weeks my blood sugar has gone from 312 to 121. I have lost 27 pounds and feel better than ever. Still needs to come down some but hoping by next week it will be normal.
Janet Horton wow that’s great, what do you eat to get full without getting high blood sugar? I’m prediabetic
Has your blood sugar gone down?
The title should be why vegan doctors like to hate anything that's non-Vegan I can make a whole video about why brown rice is unhealthy because the high level of arsenic cause cancer so therefore brown rice is unhealthy what about the DHA IN Fish is better than ALA in plants and much more bioavailable I think I would rather listen to what longest living healthy Japanese are eating whole food unprocessed diets
Any idea, why pesco-vegetarians had the lowest hazard ratio for all-cause mortality in the Adventist Health Study 2 despite pollution? I can see the ecological and other ethical problems with eating seafood, but doesn't epidemiology contradict the claim that a vegan diet is healthier than a pescovegetarian diet? I don't think I know better, it's just that I see some contradiction here. Thanks for your reply.
nice logic very non-biased video 😂😂

Adding meat and eggs wont make your blood sugar go up.
how can a "doctor" be so unprofessional and immature.
That documentary changed my life. I haven't gone full vegan. I'm working on it!

Same here!
You went full stupid.
Zdogg is so obviously working for the food industry, and not conveying his own opinion. He is so blatantly getting paid to have that opinion. I'm surprised more haven't caught on yet.
you underestimate people's stupidity
look at his eyes he's feeling like shit from his diet, the money keeps him going
Thank you.
my husband has changed his diet because of this awesome documentary and we are now striving to be vegans as best as possible :)
Melly Rodriguez
Congratulations, stay motivated do you like to research it does get better and better, for lots of reasons for your health the planet and the animals.
Everardini chuka did you do it!! You should ! There's no where to go but up!
Everardini chuka good luck to you
Excellent video, I love it! Is he really a doctor? I’m concerned for his patients
He advocates for keto but then claim that he doesn't support "one size fits all" diets?
he advocates any diet that will make us sicker so he can profit off us
christine Truth
That should be enough for people.
keto can be made into slightly less keto ( you can adjust it)
while vegan diets is vegan forever, cannot be adjusted
yeah, keto diets makes you sick in the first stages because your body is in shock. but once you get over this state, does not last more than a couple of days you shall feel a lot better...
@FluffyFungus Yeah, they're not biochemists, lol
@@drveg6579 my wife is Einstein, my mum is Stephen Hawking and I’m Sheldon so any of my arguments win against yours

This just verifies what the documentary stated on the lack of accurate knowledge regarding nutrition among doctors.
Bless you for all these sources. I've been looking for hours.
Michaela Jo glad for you
Jose Caceres thank you. :)
Fantastic. The transition might be a bit hard in the beginning but it looks like you're doing very well.
Michaela Jo cool!
My only regret is not going vegan sooner.
I was vegan 15 years , now that I eat meat I feel a million times better , being vegan was legit fucking up my life . One diet doesn't fit all
Freddy bates why does every other species of animals consume the same diet if ‘one diet doesn’t fit all’
if it fucked you up, then you did something wrong, for example: vitamin d, b12 suplements??? maybe youu ate the same thing over and over?? didnt have enough wisdom into the lifestyle??
That's patently untrue. Racoons live on just about anything. Same with Mice and rats. They just eat what's available.
The industry WILL THROW EVERYTHING They got to discredit this documentary. In doubt, follow the money. Thanks for this vib.
How exactly?
This doctor should be ashamed of himself... Great video!
Leo Venus he needs ppl to be sick so he can have a job
From my experience, he is a real doctor, i.e. egotistical and God acting. I do know some good doctors, however.
Also, the part where he is mocking the woman talking about toxins is... sexist as fuck tbh.
agreed.
Thats what people do when they dont have a strong point to make.
He was mocking the way she was speaking. Google 'uptalk' and the social implications of how women speak.
Stop being so sensitive? what he did right there was exactly what bullies sound like. Complaining and speaking up about stuff like that is exactly what discourages asswipes like him from being sexist FYI.
giphy.com/gifs/comic-vine-yoda-G4ZNYMQVMH6us
HAHAHA Misogynist spotted! PaleDale you are as much of an asswipe as that "Doctor"
All I know is this...vegetarians, vegans, and meat eaters all have around the same life expectancy, similar rates of heart attacks and strokes, but vegans/vegetarians have higher rates of scary neuro disease mortality. Yet vegetarian and vegan diets are better? ROTFLMAO!
the fact is, you cant just say diabetes....you need to identify the type....they fail to do that in the video, giving false information about type 1
👏
Oh really you were there with early humans? Show me a shred of evidence that as hunter gatherers human beings mostly went after berries and nuts? DNA evidence and real science disagree with you. Also if early humans didn’t kill and eat/ build shelter from bones and fur of wolly mammoths during the ice age we would have all died out. That’s a fact. We never would have existed to go “HUMANS NEVER ATE MEAT” your very existence is proof we did get over it loser.
@@gibsonflyingv2820 That's rude
Yeah all other animals just drink water after they wean off milk. That's because they dont make tea. We use our intellect to gain nourishment from many sources and behave past our physical ability. No other animals fly planes, should we stop? No other animals drink the milk of another but across many cultures, cow, camel, horse and goat milk are all used.
As an adult you are supposed to drink blood...

Sounds like he dodged a bullet glad he's left you 😂.
Really? ZDoggMD exists, and is for real? Does he have any real followers? Who in their RIGHT MIND could treat this guy seriously?
Try watching "Cowspirisy" which discusses the environmental affects of corporate farms. Also, watch "Earthlings" which shows the cruelty side to it all. If you're only vegan for health reasons, I'm sure you can still be healthy while eating meat and dairy as a limited part of your diet. But I, like many other vegans, do it because of all the reasons combined, mainly the cruelty to animals part of it. I refuse to let animals suffer to provide a product that I do not NEED to survive and be healthy. That's why I do it.
Cowspirisy is made by the same people
James Jordan I think the best doc is one called food choices which covers health, environment, and cruelty.
Mike Michaels
Going on a vegan diet actually causes the deaths of *more* animals per meal than if you just used locally-sourced meat, or, even better, hunted the animals yourself.
Maybe it's the quantity you eat? Do you exercise? Eat junk food? Have extra body fat?
This 'doctor' was laughing right at the start of the documentary!!!! Hummmm I wonder what he thinks about Vegans..... what a sausage!

Also, gotta love the fact that he wears his stethoscope during the video on the off chance that someone might not realize he's a "doctor. "

The statement that carbs don't become fat is pretty wild, though. I'm not advocating for low carb diets, but this is highly controversial.
That pus grossed me out and changed me forever!
noprivacy2003. The pus did it for me, too.
Anne Akris Totally agree with you! Go Mic!!
I think this might be happening on its own, check out how many views this video has gotten now. Most of his vids get 20-30, 000 views. This one is already up to 200,000. Go Mic indeed.
omg the weed comparison was so funny :D
Do Americans still believe fat makes them fat but not sugar :)
