I needed to cast a lead keel for a model yacht I'm building so here's my first attempt. Happy with the results :-) Also new to movie making and editing Lol I guess it shows.
In college Bronz sculpting class we used.. Plaster, Vermiculite, Perlite, Tarpaper, and Wire mesh shell. The chicken wire/hardware wire was to hold it all together so it did not pop open dramatically. We also used a thin coating of silica sand to refine the surface of the negative. (Lost wax method). but that's a little expensive. Nice boat, I'm looking at building something traditional and elegant so I can lay inside. Probably about 11ft. Love scratch and builds. Nice looking boat.
I did the same thing with my keel, casted it from lead. I used molds made from casting plaster instead of lead. You have to let the molds completely dry, a couple of days, before pouring in the lead. You get a much smoother finish on the lead casting. Great video.

I like the format, no fast forward with "alleged" music just live as it happens action.
Great job mate just gone on your channel it's great
Great video, thank you
Great video. I have to make a couple keel bulbs for some ongoing projects so your example is helpful.
Wow that's great. If that's the first TH-cam you've done it's very good. As is the casting!
You have every reason to be pleased, it's excellent!
Bravo! A great, entertaining, and educational first video.
Great work!
Beautiful first attempt
Well done mate - good video 👍
