I’ve just got a 78 none pedal model that needs some TLC and watching this gives me hope, never done anything quite like this, but I’ll give it a go

I got mine, same colour same year in July, one month before the new S reg plasticky ones came out. Two of my friends managed to get the new model but un-governed. I think I paid something like £198 for it new and I sold it almost two years later for £250 as it was un-goverend and in great nick. What a start to some great motorbiking years. GOt a Suzuki SV1000s and a Yamaha XJR12000. I bought the XJR in 1998 as a retro bike, it's now a retro-retro bike :D. I bought the XJR as third owner with 67 miles on the clock. The first ownere did 66 miles on it the second owner drove half a mile to his work and half a mile bakc, he was too scared of it. Bargain...!

How is the duck dock now a days? How did you anchor the dock? I love how it looks.

Can you tell me where you saw her ? Is it too late to save her?

That is exactly Grey Plover ! Although she never went that fast under motor in my experience. I learned to sail on her in the late 70s at the Humber yawl club in brough. Sanded the anti fouling, got winched up the mast in a rolly anchorage off spurn point. But I fell in love with her and sailing. So pleased you have made the model

I'm in New Zealand I have a Luke 5 Tonner named True Love, built 1950 by Luke Bros. I'm restoring her, such a beautiful boat with wonderful lines. Do you know this boat? She has always been named True Love and came down here with Colonel Brown, the gentleman that commissioned her to be built.

I used to sail on a Luke 5 ton called Grey Plover in the Humber when I was young with my father and his friend who owned the boat and kept her in the HYC. I guess this was the same boat that your father owned? Such a pity to see her in such a sorry state. I've got early photograps of Grey Plover if you are interested?

Wow Yes it was the same Grey Plover. Im guessing your fathers friend was Charlie Haywood ? What was your Father called ? My Father is Melvyn Parish im sure your father would have known him. Yes i would love to see some photos.

Hi, Yes it was Charles Hayward RNR. My father was Alan Smith who sailed for many years with Charles. I have to figure out how I can send you some photos. @@andrewparish437

In college Bronz sculpting class we used.. Plaster, Vermiculite, Perlite, Tarpaper, and Wire mesh shell. The chicken wire/hardware wire was to hold it all together so it did not pop open dramatically. We also used a thin coating of silica sand to refine the surface of the negative. (Lost wax method). but that's a little expensive. Nice boat, I'm looking at building something traditional and elegant so I can lay inside. Probably about 11ft. Love scratch and builds. Nice looking boat.

I did the same thing with my keel, casted it from lead. I used molds made from casting plaster instead of lead. You have to let the molds completely dry, a couple of days, before pouring in the lead. You get a much smoother finish on the lead casting. Great video.
