I watched your video a few times before taking this task on. I cheated though!! Rather than unplugging the harness from the switch I left it attached and just ground a small hole in the tin cover with a Dremel tool and then picked the plate out with an awl. Worked great!. I liked how your didn't disassemble the switch like some of the other video's did. Keep it simple eh. Great video.
hi Bro, I loved your video! I have a question, maybe someone can help me with this: my CX only has 1 key and the remote lock does not work. What do you recommend I do to make the remote lock work (and also have another copy). My question is: If I install a new lock (Key Assembly) like in the video (I saw a used replacement part on the internet that comes with 2 keys and that works), would that solve my problem? Would the remote electric lock work? Or do I need to do some additional programming? best regards to all from germany
I believe you can reuse your transponder ring and use a different ignition barrel, but you also need to make sure the key is the same. Any other people can confirm this?
Its possible, but I've heard usually the blower motor resistor is what gets bad on these. Double check the owners Manuel to see what fuse 33 is or is not suppose to have a fuse for.
@@FixCarYourselfthanks for the reply. I’ve tried all the techniques you showed to get the key to turn but no luck. Can the key assembly still be removed? I’m stuck at the pin and the pin will not budge to slide out the key assembly, which I believe is because the steering wheel is locked. Drill the pin out?
After 2 hours of wiggling and jiggling the steering I still cannot get the key to turn to the #1 position. I have put graphite powder in the tumbler, but still no luck. On a positive note the screw that is at the bottom of the hole was apparently never installed and I was able to actually get a socket on the 10mm clamp screw. But the key will not turn.
My srt6 has a problem. When i start my car the cooling fans come on automatically. After 20 min the air and heat will light back up. It goes on and off every 30 min. Could it be a sensor?

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. One of the best step by step car repair videos I've watched.
Wow, thanks! Glad you enjoyed the details!
Great instruction, I fixed my key-issue with your video and it works very fine now, please continue with such vids.

Thanks so much, will do!

Nice job, and nice to hear of your experience on how you did it a bit differently! Theirs's always a way to do things differently.
Very very helpful - completely solved the problem - thank you so much
Very glad to hear.
Best one out here step by step
Thanks!
Nice detail; great tips; well videoed 👍🏼
Glad you watched the installed video as well. You'd be surprised how many people just watch the remove but the installation is just as important.

If you change ignition barrel for a new one can the transponder ring work with the new barrel

@@FixCarYourself thank you got it done it works many thankz👍🏾
Awesome!
Any solution if you cant get the key into the first position? Ive been at it for like 2 hours.
Watch this video it may help: th-cam.com/video/Pdgnkb7pmxM/w-d-xo.html
So you left that hole there right you didn’t put the spring back correct?
yep. No spring.
I checked the fuse. Would the climate control fuse be a problem? Theres no fuse in 33 slot
Its possible, but I've heard usually the blower motor resistor is what gets bad on these. Double check the owners Manuel to see what fuse 33 is or is not suppose to have a fuse for.
What if the key won’t turn to accessory/position 1? Can the ignition still be removed?
I made a separate video that might help you so you can turn it again.

808bicycle- did you get it? Just grind that pin off and remove the ignition
@@brentmulligan1970 I did. And got it working. Thanks!
@@808BicycleWorksbro what did you grind it out with ? I’m currently at the same problem

Can't turn key to unlock steering wheel. Can't push pin to release part. Help

I can't get the pin pushed in on my starter mechanism to pull it out
Can anyone help me figure out how to get the pin pushed in to release my ignition mechanism

Check your fuses 1st, make sure your coolant is good the level, use a scan tool to see if you have any codes, and or do a reset if necessary.
Can you take one ignition barrel from one car and swap it over onto another?
Haven't tried it but I think so, with the exception of the key part which would have to be the same.
