Hey guys! Just to clarify, my GPA and AP exam scores mentioned in the video were from 9th through 11th grade. My overall GPA including 12th grade was a 3.92 unweighted GPA / 4.22 weighted GPA. And I took 3 AP exams senior year: AP Psychology (5), AP Statistics (5), and AP Environmental Science (4). P.S: if any of you are applying to college soon, I’m wishing you guys the best! : D

Yield protection. UCI does that for those who they think are not coming. I also got accepted to all the UC schools I applied, which were UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, and UCI, except for UCI. UCI just waitlisted me.
Essays are a huge factor. I'm a transfer student and I was rejected by the local cal state colleges (cpp, cssb, csf, csla) and accepted at Columbia. Someone explain that one if it wasn't my essay lol
@@sparkle0859 they don't. Grades only. My grades from 10 years ago were bad (part of why I dropped out) and outweighed my current grades from CC. My essay basically explained all that and then some. So the state schools said no, the schools that gave an option to explain said yes.

Ketan Guthula Nah Berkeley is much more prestigious than UVA. But keep in mind VA also has w&m which is good for IR, business, and economics, and VT, which has stellar engineering and compsci programs.

at my school anything below 1500 is considered trash. I got 1490 which is considered horrible and when I tell anyone at my school "I did bad on the SAT" they say "wait but you AT LEAST must have gotten 1500 right???"

I realized this year that the "mid tier" UC's like Davis, San Diego, and Irvine are not good matches. I had around the same stats as you, if not a bit better, and I got rejected from Davis and San Diego, as well as LA. But then afterward, I somehow got accepted to Berkeley?? UC system makes no sense, maybe Berkeley was actually the true match school this whole time.
I enjoyed this more than other college accept videos. I feel like so much has changed from when I was doing this about 10 years ago. Coming from California I cannot believe how much of an advantage I had in decisions from UCs -especially when compared to the kids I'm hearing weren't accepted from other states. Really surprised that UCI would turn away a kid with your profile -when I was applying it was definitely considered a safety school. I'm also surprised by the amount of kids who applied to Rice -that's my alma mater and my friend and former roommate is one of the Admissions Directors there now. Crazy how competitive it seems now. Best of luck at USC -definitely a great option.
Hey, a lot had happened since the 8 months after I discovered your channel. I ended getting into one of my dream schools: The College of Engineering at UC Berkeley to study Energy Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. I ended up getting into the SEED Scholars Honors Program, got a full ride, and a 40k research stipend. With some extra money I've been saving up and being an Elevate Scholar and the Francina Hester Scholar for my school, I am really looking forward to what comes next. I just want to say thank you for humor, relatability, and insightful videos throughout this part of my journey. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors! I'll post my stats if anyone is curious. Disclaimer: My curriculum is on a 4.0 UW Scale and a 5.0 weighted. I went to a project based learning charter school in the High Tech High family. No IB or AP courses are offered. We follow the A-G curriculum and offer UC approved honors courses in 11th and 12th grade. If your curriculum is not as similar to mine, my stats may not be the best indicator to your success. UW GPA: 3.87 W GPA: 4.3 UC GPA. 4.3 SAT/ACT: N/A (These are only my academic stats. I won't have enough room for extra curriculars)
You seem like such a nice and humble guy, I really do hope you have the best of live moving forward and this is just the start, moving down the lane at least 5-6 years down the line it won’t really matter, what will is how much skill you possess and what you actually did while being at uni. Are you a junior or senior? Also what is your score breakdown for each section? Reading may take a couple weeks to hit 700+ assuming that you’re in the high 500’s or low 600’s right now. It can definitely be stressful but you WILL 100% improve in reading. You have to be confident (not overly so) when it comes to the SAT. It will help you. And for grammar, buy a prep book like college panda. For math, grind through a TON of practice problems and use stuff like khan academy and Uworld.
Watching this as someone who is getting close to graduating from UCI, and I wish you best of luck man. For you to be confident enough to share all of this with the world means you were already halfway to being a real college student/adult. You remind me a lot of my older brother so I hope good fortune comes your way.

This might sound weird, but I have kind of secluded myself because of this sat. I am trying to do better on the sat reading section. I am taking my sat on Saturday, so It is just nice to see somebody that does not pretend to help others
Hmm since your SAT is this Saturday, I would go through a good amount of practice problems (and maybe buy a prep book and go through that quickly). Try reading 30 min each night except the night before your exam. I don’t recommend studying TOO much the day before exam. Light review is okay. And did you seclude yourself to focus more? You can study with friends, sometimes that helps. No need to seclude : )

I actually respect that you didn’t unnecessarily try to score higher on your SAT. Many people at my school-all of my friends in fact-consider that a low score and will try and try until they get a 1550 or higher.

I just found this channel and I feel like I am looking at myself. We both have the same major, play an instrument, have slightly higher pitch voices, have the same SAT score, and seem to be the ethnicity (comments). Is this my long lost twin to my older brother? I guess not because 2 of these qualities are not independent and SAT scores are bound to line up since it is just a test with a small window of viable scores for college acceptances. Still makes me feel like it’s a small world and confirms that I’m not trash so I love it.

Lol I didn't even apply to any schools out of high school, I just went to community college and am now guaranteed admission into UCSB, UCD, UCI! And these last 2 years at community college have been hella easy, and free. I got a 3.5 GPA and a 1240 SAT while in high school, so I wouldn't have gotten into any good schools. Community college is the best decision any of yall can make.
I applied only to 2 "safety schools" with average accepted student GPAs about 0.8 lower than my GPA. Got a thicc scholarship offer for both, got my results in November, and didn't have to pay to apply. A lot of people were shocked that I went to a local private Christian college when I have stats that line up with a lot of Ivy applicants, but you gotta do you, boo. Watching this video was a fun what-if of what it could of looked like for me to do what was expected and apply to all the big boy universities out there. Congratulations dude!

Hey, a lot had happened since the 8 months after I discovered your channel. I ended getting into one of my dream schools: The College of Engineering at UC Berkeley to study Energy Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. I ended up getting into the SEED Scholars Honors Program, got a full ride, and a 40k research stipend. With some extra money I've been saving up and being an Elevate Scholar and the Francina Hester Scholar for my school, I am really looking forward to what comes next. I just want to say thank you for humor, relatability, and insightful videos throughout this part of my journey. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!

Disclaimer: My curriculum is on a 4.0 UW Scale and a 5.0 weighted. I went to a project based learning charter school in the High Tech High family. No IB or AP courses are offered. We follow the A-G curriculum and offer UC approved honors courses in 11th and 12th grade. If your curriculum is not as similar to mine, my stats may not be the best indicator to your success.

W GPA: 4.3
UC GPA. 4.3
SAT/ACT: N/A
(These are only my academic stats. I won't have enough room for extra curriculars)

Pro tip: even if you didn’t get into an Ivy, you can likely transfer there as a Sophomore if your grades are good.

I have been taking tests and grading them, and my highest score is still a 1250, I do not think I am improving. Sometimes I just feel like crying
Are you a junior or senior? Also what is your score breakdown for each section? Reading may take a couple weeks to hit 700+ assuming that you’re in the high 500’s or low 600’s right now. It can definitely be stressful but you WILL 100% improve in reading. You have to be confident (not overly so) when it comes to the SAT. It will help you. And for grammar, buy a prep book like college panda. For math, grind through a TON of practice problems and use stuff like khan academy and Uworld.

This might sound weird, but I have kind of secluded myself because of this sat. I am trying to do better on the sat reading section. I am taking my sat on Saturday, so It is just nice to see somebody that does not pretend to help others
Hmm since your SAT is this Saturday, I would go through a good amount of practice problems (and maybe buy a prep book and go through that quickly). Try reading 30 min each night except the night before your exam. I don’t recommend studying TOO much the day before exam. Light review is okay.
And did you seclude yourself to focus more? You can study with friends, sometimes that helps. No need to seclude : )

I actually respect that you didn’t unnecessarily try to score higher on your SAT. Many people at my school-all of my friends in fact-consider that a low score and will try and try until they get a 1550 or higher.

I just found this channel and I feel like I am looking at myself. We both have the same major, play an instrument, have slightly higher pitch voices, have the same SAT score, and seem to be the ethnicity (comments). Is this my long lost twin to my older brother? I guess not because 2 of these qualities are not independent and SAT scores are bound to line up since it is just a test with a small window of viable scores for college acceptances. Still makes me feel like it’s a small world and confirms that I’m not trash so I love it.

Lol I didn't even apply to any schools out of high school, I just went to community college and am now guaranteed admission into UCSB, UCD, UCI! And these last 2 years at community college have been hella easy, and free. I got a 3.5 GPA and a 1240 SAT while in high school, so I wouldn't have gotten into any good schools. Community college is the best decision any of yall can make.

I applied only to 2 "safety schools" with average accepted student GPAs about 0.8 lower than my GPA. Got a thicc scholarship offer for both, got my results in November, and didn't have to pay to apply. A lot of people were shocked that I went to a local private Christian college when I have stats that line up with a lot of Ivy applicants, but you gotta do you, boo. Watching this video was a fun what-if of what it could of looked like for me to do what was expected and apply to all the big boy universities out there. Congratulations dude!
