    I'm Molly, a typical sushi, makeup, and fashion loving millennial girl who just so happens to be blind! I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at just 4 years old and began public speaking at age 5. I started just doing motivational speaking, but now I make videos and even model! Even though I can’t see, I know that there are bright spots in everything we face. Let’s find them together. 💕

It is also so annoying to carry a EpiPen every time you go out btw a EpiPen is a needle that saves you if u have a anaphylactic shock it is so annoying but it has saved my life over 24 times so if u have a disability it is nothing to be ashamed of or to be annoyed about 😊 im 12 at the moment and i have been told i will never get rid of my anaphylaxis i may get rid of my exisima so i understand there is a high chance of begin tubfed in the future

    I just received my first guide dog Stella about 9 months ago from Leader Dogs for the Blind in Michigan and I’m loving every minute of, she has changed my life so much in the short time we have been a team. It is because of your videos about Gallop that I finally made the decision to get a guide dog and I’m so glad I did. I mean I have known since I was in high school that I eventually wanted to get a guide dog, but my O&M instructor told me that she “did not think that I need a guide dog” well I am glad I didn’t listen to her and that I did get a guide. I will never go back to the cane unless something happens to Stella but hopefully that will be a while. Thank you so much Molly for all of your inspirational videos!

      Megan Ramsey so do people keep their dogs after they retire? I remember the video when molly had the dog psychic visit gallop and molly had stated that she was going to give gallop away when he retires? (Even though it was family she was going to give him to) I thought that was super sad, but assumed that was protocol since she would even consider that.so can people keep their dog? If so, I wonder why molly would even consider giving him to someone else when he loved and took care of her for all those years?

    • @meganramsey5459
      @meganramsey5459 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@greyedgrl2 for some Service dog programs they require no other dogs in the home, or it could just be a personal decision, sometimes keeping the retired SD in the home makes it harder to bond with the new one or it could make things too difficult and interfer with the new SDs ability to work. Choosing to keep or rehome a retiring SD is a hard and personal decision to make. Also I would imagine with the amount of traveling she does gallop wold have to have a sitter or be boreded alot and he would probably be happier with her dad vs. all that. (Just my opinion only Molly can give the true explanation)

    I’m not a service/guide dog user, but I had a similar experience with my dogs. I grew up with a collie that we had for his whole life, 9 years. He was my best friend. He went through hard times with me, he was always on my side he was an absolute sweetheart. Then he had puppies, one of which I took. It turned out that the puppy was sick and only lived to be 3 years old. I was devastated when he died. It was unexpected. After the puppy died, the collie was still there to comfort me, and I don’t think I would’ve survived without him. Then my mom got me another puppy because I was just crying in my room for months. I didn’t want him. I didn’t want a replacement. I didn’t make an effort to get to know him that well. Then my collie got cancer. He was put down last spring. Again, I was devastated. I grew up with that dog, he was always there and suddenly he’s gone. He saved my life, what was I supposed to do now? I then started training my at the time two year old puppy every day. I got to know him. Now he just turned three and I live with him. This time he saved my life.

    Mines a different kind of dog story. I had just moved in with an (ex) fiancé and really wanted a puggle. The one I wanted was a puppy and $1,000. My mom talked me into going to the adoption center in town and I knew they wouldn’t have a puggle puppy like I wanted. We went through the entire kennel and I didn’t connect with any dogs. We were leaving and a lady at the desk asked if I saw any dog I liked...I told her I didn’t see the kind of dog I wanted. She then (rudely) asked what kind. I told her a puppy puggle. She said come this way..took us to the back quarantine area and sat us down in a room. We waited then she opened the door in runs a puggle (he looks like a mini boxer) about 1 yr old. His name was Cooper and he jumped in my lap facing me and it was love at first sight.
    His name is Griffy now and he’s about 10...he’s been with me through things that dogs aren’t normally there for...like me grabbing Griffy in the middle of the night after an altercation with that ex fiancé where he broke my phone....took my keys... I had Griffy in my arms ringing neighbors doorbells looking for help. Finally someone answered and Griffy went straight in...I called my parents hysterical while he found a frosty on the floor and ate it. So many other things. He got me through that abusive relationship and breakup. I got hurt 4 1/2 yrs ago and I am currently bedridden. He stays right by me all day everyday. He’s been my one constant in such dark times... especially since I got full body CRPS and my life forever changed. He got a brother Tig (chiweenie) about 5 years ago. Tig stays with us in bed as well. They are my babies... my world. The amount of love I have for Griffy... and Tig...Griffy will always be my #1 though.. is extremely hard to put into words. Griffy has kept me alive. I think of them as physical reminders of how much God loves me and that I’m never alone.

    Any other disabled folks cry when Molly was the one who informed them that International Day of Persons with Disabilities existed in the first place? And cried again several times throughout the video?

    I was on the verge of tears for this video. I haven’t lost my sight yet and I haven’t had a pet in my life, but the way you’ve talked about gipsy in your previous videos and then this video... just got to me. I’m glad that she was there during your through your hardest timesavers I know gallop (and maybe future doggos) will help you through your life. You are an inspiration along with your family and friends, and with your guide dogs. ❤️

    I cried when I watched the Gypsy passing away video, that story just really hit me. Thank you for sharing such personal experiences with us. I had no clue the process to get one of those dogs was so rigorous! I also have a pet that has been through a lot with me (a Goffin cockatoo) and yes, she's tons of work but pets really do give so much back to their owners. Cheeky has been through grade 9 with me, bullying, losing my confidence, my Traumatic Brain Injury, me mourning the person I was before the injury, etc. (Too much of my identity was wrapped up in being a French Immersion student and basketball player). Animals are so incredibly rewarding, whether they're guide dogs, or simply pets. Thank you for spreading awareness, I learn so much and have so much fun watching these videos. 😁💕

    Dogs are amazing creatures, and service/guide dogs are just extra special. I have my "Gypsy", and she's my black lab Tilly. She's not a guide or service dog, but she is completely in tune with me and there is just no way to describe how special she is. But I am glad that Gypsy was able to grow you into the person you are today.

    I’m not disabled or have a guide dog.. but the way you talk about gypsie makes me think of my dog. She’s been there for me through so much, and she always shows me the positives in the negative situations. I really do think of her as my spirit animal, and no other animal or human for that matter will ever be able to replace her.

    I'm waiting on my guide dog but ive been around them all my life. A few years ago I use to volunteer at a rehab centre for the blind and visually impaired teaching technology. All people knew I walked in the room as the dogs use to wag their tails heavily on the floor. The best thing is the dogs all had different personalities and match their owners

    I love Molly Burke. I have a learning disability and ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). I used to have ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder). Now I don't have the hyperactivity part that much of ADD like I used to. I have trouble with Math, Science, English, Health, and History. History and English coincide together and Science English Math and History coincide together.
    I had a few dogs like Gypsy too. Trudy was incredible. She was like a second mom to me. She truly showed me what true friendship was all about. She was everything like Gypsy was except calmer than Gypsy.

I loved it! And I, of course, thought about you every single second I was there. I'm proud of myself but, above all, very proud of you ❤️ Thanks for bringing awareness to the world and being such a wonderful person ❤️

    I retired my first Service Dog at the end of our summer school semester, about a year earlier than planned due to a medical issue. He is still here with us, but I BAWLED on the way home from our last day at school together and I don't even want to think about the time down the road when he leaves me permanently! My Service Dog in Training that succeeded him is AMAZING in his own way, but yeah, that first one is so incredibly special! Thanks for sharing, Molly!
