  • This is what a typical day looks like for me in Sierra Nevada. Luckily I got the Olympic Champion, Krisitan Blummenfelt as pacer on my session and I got Gustav Iden as a photographer! Thanks guys!

    Hi Cedrik, great vlog again ✌️✌️
    Was wondering what Lt1 and Lt2 means and what adaptations are you looking to achieve ,
    Thanks 😊

      Yes, why do LT1 intervals with a warm up and cool down instead of just a continuous LT1 ride?

    • @cedrikbakkechristophersen
      @cedrikbakkechristophersen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! LT1 is basically “fat max” and LT2 is threshold. Stands for Lactate threshold 1 and 2. The reason why I’m doing it is because I have to become more efficient. Efficiency is key;)

    • @cedrikbakkechristophersen
      @cedrikbakkechristophersen  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Everyone got shocked when the news came and it’s surrealistic that people think Mikal is involved in this.. I know for sure that the Norwegians have nothing to do with this case. Other than that, it good that those who cheat are getting caught. There’s no shortcuts in sport.

    What is the rational behind having a morning and afternoon session? I know this is very common for swimmers but less so for cyclists.

    • @cedrikbakkechristophersen
      @cedrikbakkechristophersen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Main reason is to get some more volume in, but it make it also easier to have more specific sessions like today (1xLT1 session + 1x harder interval) because you have several sessions a week

    Have you always been doing many threshold training (for the intervals) during your career of have you been training on a regular 'polarized training plan'? What is the reason that you only do one or tho vo2max sessions each month? Does this change during race season? Keep on the good work!
    Wouter

    • @cedrikbakkechristophersen
      @cedrikbakkechristophersen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Yes, my needs in training have been threshold for the last couple of years now. That’s also the reason why I’m not doing to much vo2. I’m pretty good at vo2 max and my limitations is more at threshold and not at vo2 for now;)

    How are you creating progressive overload below LT1 during the base season? Via increasing the time in zone or slowly increasing the power over time, or both?

  • @cphilipbrown
    @cphilipbrown ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Two questions: why the running intensity? I get the shorter run recovery sessions but why the intervals?
    Why two cycling sessions? I’ve never heard of a pro rider doing 2 a days, normally one long ride of 4-6 hours

    • @cedrikbakkechristophersen
      @cedrikbakkechristophersen  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Run intervals: To get some more volume at higher intensity in and at the same time do something slightly different after few weeks with lots of cycling.
      2 cycling sessions a day: Main reason is to get some more volume in, but it make it also easier to have more specific sessions like today (1xLT1 session + 1x harder interval).

    • @cphilipbrown
      @cphilipbrown ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cedrikbakkechristophersen interesting approach. Very atypical for the cycling world. 39 hours a week is also very high for a cyclist. My understanding is it’s rare to have even a to pro over 25 hours a week.

    What are the values of lactate in LT1 and LT2 that you target in this video? LT1 session and Threshold/ LT2 one?

    • @cedrikbakkechristophersen
      @cedrikbakkechristophersen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At LT1 I’m aiming for having the highest power as possible with the lowest lactate as possible. LT2 I’m aiming for around 2.5mmol

    • @XavierHipolito
      @XavierHipolito ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @dastolh

    Hva er grunnen til at du kjører to "kortere" sykkeløkter i stedet for en sammenhengende? Trodde man gjor det i løping pga slagene mot bein/muskler etc, og at man i utgangspunktet får mer treningseffekt av en større økt?

    • @cedrikbakkechristophersen
      @cedrikbakkechristophersen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rett og slett for å kunne trene mer. Kjører jo såklart flere lange økter, men innimellom har jeg 2x sykkel på samme dag for å få opp volumet. Gjør det også lettere å kunne ha flere økter med forskjellige fokusområder som i dag (LT1 på morgenen og i3/i4 på ettermiddagen).
